From Trash to Treasure: The Sinclair Family's Beloved Genius
Chapter 432 - 430: Heave-ho, Pulling Radishes
Of course, he snapped the first few radishes in half while trying to dig them up.
Laughter filled the livestream chat.
"Hahaha, Gabriel’s reaction is so real. Over the New Year, my cousin from the city came back to help our grandparents with some digging. He didn’t even recognize potatoes and kept insisting they were yams. I died laughing. So I wasn’t surprised at all when Gabriel said radishes don’t grow in the ground. It just means he recognizes a radish but has no idea where it grows, leading to this blunder."
"Totally. Plus, Gabriel is a rich kid. I think his dad is the wealthiest man in Kennet. This is probably the first time he’s ever even held a hoe."
"All I can say is, you’re working hard, young master."
"I think Gabriel is actually taking it pretty seriously. Even though he doesn’t know how, he’s copying the motions well. I counted—in the first ten minutes, he managed to dig up ten radishes, but he snapped every single one of them in half. But then, after that, he finally pulled out a whole one."
"Proof that he’s improving, hahaha."
"Our boy’s got some serious skills."
"Holy crap, you guys, go look at Chloe Sinclair’s stream! She’s pulling radishes so fast!"
Suddenly, a fan from the other stream popped into Gabriel’s chat and shouted, and everyone scrambled over to see what was happening on Chloe Sinclair’s side.
And they discovered that Chloe Sinclair’s speed was truly superhuman.
For a full half hour, Chloe Sinclair didn’t look up once.
She either used the hoe to loosen the soil or just pulled them out with sheer force.
After pulling one out, she’d toss the radish aside and immediately bend down to dig up the next one.
"Why isn’t Chloe Sinclair putting the radishes in the basket?"
"She hasn’t damaged a single radish."
"Actress Garrison and Actress Ford have broken five, and Senior Hollis has broken seven. Hailey Beckett hasn’t broken any so far, but she’s less than half as fast as Chloe Sinclair."
"Why does Chloe Sinclair know so much about farm work? She doesn’t hesitate at all."
"FYI: Chloe Sinclair was switched at birth. She lived in the countryside for eighteen years before returning to her wealthy family. That’s probably how she knows all this stuff. But still, I think her speed is insane. Look, even the professional farmer next to her can’t keep up."
"So Chloe Sinclair must have done a lot of farm work growing up. What were her adoptive parents thinking?"
The viewers were a bit shocked.
After all, Chloe Sinclair’s grades were so good, one would think her adoptive parents had intentionally nurtured her and loved her dearly.
But what kind of loving parent would make their own child do farm labor?
Chloe Sinclair’s practiced movements and the things she said during the demonstration earlier clearly showed she’s done this many times before.
"What were Chloe Sinclair’s adoptive parents thinking?"
"I didn’t even notice until you guys brought it up. Haven’t you realized that Chloe Sinclair often mentions her brother and father online, but never her adoptive parents? You think there’s a story there?"
As a public figure, if Chloe’s adoptive parents had treated her well, given her personality, she would surely have been good to them in return.
Yet online, there wasn’t a single peep about this adoptive couple.
But just then, a viewer dug up an incident from last year at Emberfall University.
"I’m a student at Emberfall University. I just want to say that Chloe Sinclair’s good grades have absolutely nothing to do with her adoptive parents. As for why she doesn’t mention them online, it’s not to protect them. It’s because she scorns the very idea of mentioning them."
"Before the New Year, Chloe Sinclair’s adoptive brother showed up and immediately demanded 500,000 from her. When she refused, the boy started cursing her out. The gist was that if Chloe didn’t give him the 500,000, he’d have his parents come and ’deal with her.’"
"The way the boy said it was so practiced, I have to wonder if he’d threatened Chloe Sinclair like that often in the past."
"If you don’t believe me, you can search for it online. This happened two months ago, and you can still find the video."
"The reason I’m saying all this is to make it clear that her adoptive parents will not get a single penny of Chloe Sinclair’s future success. And they shouldn’t even think about using her name to pull any shady stunts."
Now that it was brought up, many viewers started to recall the incident from a few months prior.
Quite a few people began to remember the event.
"Thinking about it, Chloe Sinclair is actually quite pitiful. If she didn’t have such a strong moral compass, we might have seen another person who’d do anything for their younger brother."
"I saw that video from a few months ago. I was so pissed off. The kid looked like he was only in his teens, probably not even an adult, yet he had the gall to demand 500,000. How dare he?"
"The way he said it so casually, he must have asked for money like that a lot before. No wonder Chloe Sinclair returned to her rich family without a second thought. It probably wasn’t because she looked down on them for being poor, but because she wanted to escape a family like that."
At that moment, the viewers suddenly noticed Nina Sinclair’s stream.
By the time Chloe Sinclair was more than halfway done with her task, Nina Sinclair had barely managed to dig up fifteen radishes.
Because she was wearing a dress, her movements were extremely careful. When she got a radish, she would just toss it directly into the basket.
A nearby farmer saw this and winced. He walked over to look at the radishes in the basket and saw that the skins on most of them were scraped.
Finally, unable to hold back, he said quietly, "Next time you toss the radishes, be more gentle. They’re delicate and the skin breaks easily. If they don’t look good, no one will buy them."
Nina Sinclair was already angry that her dress had gotten muddy, so his words were like pouring oil on a fire.
"It’s just a little scraped skin, isn’t it? I’ll just go to the market and sell them for you tomorrow."
Nina Sinclair was annoyed just looking at the radishes.
’A single radish isn’t even worth much. I really don’t get why these people waste so much time and effort growing these things.’
Nina Sinclair’s words made the few guests who were close enough to hear turn and look.
Yara Garrison was older, with a son who was already an adult.
She’d had a bit of a temper in her youth, and since her own parents were farmers, she turned around and frowned when she heard what Nina Sinclair said.
"Miss Sinclair, if the radishes’ skins are broken, their price will be driven down. If you really don’t want to do this work, just go up there and rest. We’ll finish up your patch for you after we’re done."
"Also, the man in front of you is over two decades your senior. He’s old enough you should be calling him Grandpa. Don’t be so rude."
Yara Garrison’s words were a devastating public rebuke. Nina Sinclair’s eyes went wide, furious but not daring to talk back.
She looked at Yara Garrison’s wrinkled face and felt sick.
’Isn’t she just some has-been actress? Does she really think she’s a top-tier celebrity?’
