"She’s in pain, didn’t you hear her? Be more careful. Why are you being so rough?"

Wu Sheng desperately resisted the urge to kick the doctor, but he couldn’t stop himself from speaking.

And it wasn’t just any comment. His tone was ice-cold and laced with killing intent.

Doctor: "..."

’Wasn’t I just examining her properly? Why do I have to endure this kind of pressure? What did I ever do to deserve this!’

When the examination was over and it was confirmed that Su Li had a slight fracture in her big toe, the doctor wiped the sweat from his face and nearly thanked the heavens.

Watching the troublesome pair leave, the doctor couldn’t help but mutter to himself.

"Young girls are so delicate."

’Crying out in pain at the slightest touch... that’s the very definition of delicate. She sounded so pitiful, no wonder her husband acts like that.’

The doctor sighed in utter helplessness.

Su Li, carried out in Wu Sheng’s arms with her hands clasped tightly around his shoulders, didn’t hear the doctor’s remark. She had no idea she had just been labeled a delicate little thing.

"It’s fractured! It’s a good thing we came to the hospital. You still can’t remember how you got hurt?"

Wu Sheng was terrified.

"I think something hit me during the chaos earlier." Su Li bit her lip. "I didn’t have time to feel the pain then."

"You feel the pain now, don’t you?" Wu Sheng huffed.

"Mhm." Su Li nodded.

"Why don’t you just stay in the hospital tonight? We can get you a shot tomorrow before we leave. What if it starts hurting in the middle of the night?" Wu Sheng suggested.

"No, that’s not necessary," Su Li countered. "Didn’t the doctor prescribe medication? We can just get the medicine and go home. It’s not right to be hospitalized for such a minor injury. Besides, aren’t those students here too? The hospital must be very busy, and beds are probably tight."

"Alright, I’ll go get the medicine first then."

Wu Sheng didn’t want to leave Su Li in the hallway. He thought for a moment. Since they were already at the hospital, they might as well check on the people who were sent here earlier.

Wa Wa Lian happened to be at the hospital too, so they could see if he was ready to leave.

With that in mind, Wu Sheng headed to the ward.

The ward was completely full. They had even added extra beds, all occupied by the students.

Wu Sheng quickly found Wa Wa Lian and the homeroom teacher, Xiao Hong. Xiao Hong had been mentally and physically exhausted. After arriving, it turned out she hadn’t suffered any major injuries and her check-up was done, but she hadn’t woken up yet and was still fast asleep.

Her hand was still tightly clutching the hem of Wa Wa Lian’s clothes, refusing to let go.

So, a pitiful-looking Wa Wa Lian was still sitting on a stool by the hospital bed. When he saw Wu Sheng walk in, it was like seeing his savior.

"Boss!"

Only after shouting did he notice Su Li being carried, and he immediately asked with concern, "What happened to Sister-in-law?"

"Her toe is fractured." Wu Sheng saw that the bed next to them was empty and asked, "Where’s the person from this bed?"

"The doctor wheeled them away, I think for some tests," Wa Wa Lian said.

"You sit here on the bed and wait for me. It’s warm in the ward." Wu Sheng gently set Su Li down, then instructed Wa Wa Lian.

"I’m going to get the medicine. Take good care of your sister-in-law."

"Yes, Boss!" Wa Wa Lian’s reply was resounding and forceful.

They were already drawing attention, and everyone had been paying close attention after hearing the story of what Wa Wa Lian had done. Seeing this scene, all the family members in the ward turned to stare.

With Wa Wa Lian’s demeanor and that form of address, anyone who didn’t know better would think they were some kind of criminals.

Wu Sheng and Wa Wa Lian didn’t notice everyone’s gazes. After they finished talking, Wu Sheng left, and Su Li, watching from the side, desperately tried to hold back her laughter.

"Sister-in-law, would you like some water? Does it hurt?"

Though his movements were slightly restricted by the grip on his clothes, Wa Wa Lian tenaciously carried out his boss’s order, determined to take good care of his sister-in-law.

He poured Su Li a glass of water, handed it to her, and asked caringly.

Su Li took the water. "Thank you. It’s bearable."

As Su Li spoke, she glanced at the homeroom teacher, Xiao Hong. "How is she?"

"The doctor said she wasn’t seriously injured, just exhausted and resting. She’ll be fine once she wakes up," Wa Wa Lian replied.

A little while later, Wu Sheng returned with the medicine.

"Does it still hurt badly?" That was the first thing he asked.

Su Li nodded. "It still hurts. I should take some medicine."

’That doctor’s pressing really hurt.’

Wu Sheng got the medicine for Su Li and had her take it. Then, for some unknown reason, Wu Sheng suddenly broke into a wide grin.

Su Li looked at him, completely baffled.

Wu Sheng asked Su Li, "Does it hurt?"

Su Li blinked. "It hurts."

Wu Sheng coaxed her, "Say it hurts one more time."

Su Li: "...Wu Sheng, have you lost your mind?"

Wu Sheng shook his head. "No, I’m just suddenly happy. Hearing you say it hurts makes me happy. I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time."

Looking at Wu Sheng, Su Li understood what he meant.

He had told her before that when she didn’t cry out in pain, it made his heart ache even more. That’s why he always told her that if it hurt, she had to cry out. She absolutely had to say it hurt.

But she had never been able to... until today.

Wu Sheng had been too nervous before to think about it, but now that he’d had a moment to process, he was happy because he’d heard her say she was in pain.

For a moment, Su Li’s heart was filled with a bittersweet ache, but it was also incredibly sweet, as if she had eaten honey.

Just as Su Li was about to speak, Wu Sheng was suddenly yanked back by someone.

It was none other than Wa Wa Lian.

Wa Wa Lian looked at Wu Sheng, his face full of anxiety. "Boss, you... what’s wrong with you? How could you say something like that?"

"What do you mean, ’say something like that’?" Even while being pulled back and questioned, Wu Sheng’s face was still full of joy.

"I’m just happy! Your sister-in-law said it hurts, did you hear?"

Wa Wa Lian: "...!!!"

’His boss has either gone crazy, turned stupid, or been replaced by an impostor!’

’My majestic, awe-inspiring boss... how did he turn into this?’

’Can’t he see that everyone in the ward is looking at him with indignant eyes?’

’His wife is in pain, and not only does he not feel bad for her, he’s happy about it? He’s a total psycho!’

"Boss, you..." Just as Wa Wa Lian was about to find a way to snap his boss out of it, he saw him lean in close to Su Li again.

"Su Li, does it hurt?"

Su Li answered softly, "It hurts."

Hearing Su Li say it hurt again, Wu Sheng couldn’t hold back and burst out laughing.

"HAHAHA! It hurts! As long as you say it hurts, that’s great. This is great!"

’His Su Li had finally learned to cry out when she was in pain. How could he not be happy? From now on, he wouldn’t have to worry that she was hurt somewhere, enduring the pain in silence while he remained oblivious.’

Wu Sheng laughed heartily, bending down to hug Su Li in his delight.

At the side, Wa Wa Lian grimaced and scratched his head, squeezing his eyes shut. He couldn’t bear to watch.

Held in Wu Sheng’s embrace, Su Li could clearly see the numerous family members in the ward looking at them with expressions of sheer indignation.

They were restless, clearly wanting to come over and give Wu Sheng a piece of their minds.

Su Li knew from their expressions that they definitely thought Wu Sheng was a psycho, an idiot, and a bad man.

Su Li patted Wu Sheng’s shoulder, her heart a mess of complicated feelings. She patted him again to get him to let go, wanting to explain to everyone so they wouldn’t misunderstand him.

"Sorry to make a scene. Please don’t misunderstand, he... he’s not a bad person."

The moment Su Li started to explain, a kind old lady in the opposite bed sighed.

"Oh, my dear girl. He’s acting like this and you’re still defending him? If you’re married to him, you’d better be careful. If you’re not... you should leave him while you can. Grandma can introduce you to someone better."

Su Li: "..."

’Er... The old lady really meant well, even advising her to break up with him.’
