"What happened then? Then..." Su Li took a long moment to find her voice.

"Then, then... that friend didn’t go, and we’re not in touch anymore," Qian Shengli replied as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

’She never imagined Wu Sheng had done so much behind the scenes for what she thought was just a simple meeting with a friend.’

While Su Li was still in a daze, Qian Shengli, on the other end of the line, offered this heartfelt summary and then hung up.

Su Li hung up and sat in a daze for a long while.

Just as she was spacing out, her phone rang.

"Who were you on the phone with just now? The line was busy when I called."

Wu Sheng could feel it even through the phone.

He let his tone lilt upwards on his last two words, teasing her.

"Yeah, I miss you."

"I’m serious. I’ll finish up early tomorrow and come find you after work. Or I can come see you right now. If you miss me, no matter where or when, as long as it’s possible, I’ll rush over to see you."

His matter-of-fact words reached her ears, followed by another rustle of static.

"Wait a sec, I’m heading out now."

"Don’t... Wu Sheng, you have work tomorrow. Don’t come over tonight. Tomorrow, let’s meet tomorrow."

Su Li hurriedly stopped him, but she couldn’t keep the smile from her lips.

Staring at the disconnected call, Wu Sheng blinked, then finally let out a thunderous shout.

He kicked the clothes on the floor against the wall again and again. "She misses me! She likes me! And she’s coming to find me tomorrow!"
