Chapter 2869 - 1360: Speaking

In Motan’s eyes, the Ranger belonging to [Bee Sting] could be said to have died just right — in a way that highlighted the situation perfectly, wonderfully spectacular, and quite satisfying.

In truth, that person hadn’t really made any mistakes, after all, at this moment, Double Leaf was full of vulnerabilities. Not only did she voluntarily walk out of what could be called the ’formation area,’ which is the lifeline for Spellcasters, but she also defenselessly fell to the ground, crying her eyes out, giving an impression as if she had suffered some mental attack and suddenly turned stupid.

Under such circumstances, anyone who is eager for quick advantages would likely try to see if they could gain something from it.

He wasn’t completely sure he could take Double Leaf’s head, but he also didn’t believe his strike posed any danger, so he acted decisively and swiftly.

Scarlett and the leader of Bee Sting stopped the Ranger not because they could foresee that the other party would complete a counter-kill in an instant, but they thought such an attack would be unlikely to kill Double Leaf, and might even pull the girl out of a state that was quite entertaining to them.

The result, however, was astonishing.

Although Double Leaf continued to sob like a child on the ground, the poisoned arrow vanished in a space distortion, reappearing inches away from that Ranger’s heart.

Without any movement or even raising the Magic Wand in her hand, the girl who was crying heartbreakingly nonetheless instinctively completed her counterattack, performing an extreme counter-kill with the highest cost-effectiveness.

What’s worth mentioning here is that the extreme does not refer to Double Leaf being cornered before finally taking down the opponent, but rather her extreme control over Magic, observation ability, and reaction speed.

But from an objective standpoint, this was actually not a good thing for Double Leaf—

While [Bee Sting], as an Assassin, was directly reduced by one member, even if that Ranger hadn’t died, she wouldn’t have posed much threat to Double Leaf. The recent bombardment had perfectly proven this point, and Double Leaf’s instinctive optimal counter-kill directly revealed one of her carefully hidden bottom cards to Motan.

Having a mastery in Space Magic that doesn’t fall short of the Elemental School, this is probably the core reason Double Leaf could sit steadily in a waiting prey position here, and her previous operations that pushed Arcane Magic and Elemental Magic to the limit were fundamentally aimed at diluting others’ thoughts of ’could she also be very powerful in Space Magic.’

Fooling most people wasn’t too difficult, nor was there a need to be so meticulous. After all, even if she only used Arcane Magic and Elemental Magic, under Double Leaf’s full firepower, it would be difficult for anyone to be distracted to ponder too many possibilities. What she was wary of was always ’Tan Mo’, who she didn’t know where he was at the moment.

He could be observing coldly from somewhere nearby.

He could be typing with his hidden contact in the message bar.

He could be behind a ridiculous mask, sneering coldly.

He could be playing another person behind her.

If she couldn’t paralyze him, then even if she deceived everyone else, it would be meaningless.

Double Leaf understands fully well that in her schemes, regardless of when or where, that person would definitely handle all the details solely because they both know very clearly that besides each other, few could solve the opponent using ’force to break finesse.’

This is a kind of unfounded confidence, as well as inexplicable trust.

In fact, Motan indeed deserves caution because from the beginning until now, as Frank Hughes, he has always been watching Double Leaf from the closest, most ideal, most perfect position.

And Double Leaf’s handling is completely fine; in fact, until a few seconds ago, Motan hadn’t confirmed her prowess in Space Magic under this premise, rendering his situation quite passive.

Some might think that for Double Leaf, eager to escape, Space Magic is naturally something that should be most wary of, but the truth is otherwise. Although Space Magic itself poses a significant threat to Motan’s plans, it can’t be the ’most.’ In other words, the ’possibilities’ Double Leaf could utilize are actually too many – if not engaging in open tactics to counter moves, relying solely on plans could never achieve perfection.

And as long as it isn’t a perfect plan, confronting Motan or Double Leaf now leaves a high chance of finding a breakthrough immediately.

Motan can prepare many countermeasures, but the arrangements he can make in advance are relatively limited. It’s important to note this is during the convention period in the inner circle of Academy City. Even with Foster’s full cooperation, preparing a vacuum period of around twenty minutes with several hibernation points is already the limit; making extra arrangements would be too risky.

In this multi-temple winning match, both sides have adequate cards, and even plenty of bottom cards, but Motan never intended to force Double Leaf to reveal all her cards. One reason is that the price for doing so is too high; another is that there is completely no necessity.

Contrary to those idealists who exhaust everything before taking deadly action, for these two, letting the opponent fully utilize their preparation and advantages is simply foolish. Since action is required, it naturally should be as efficient as possible, making the opponent feel as frustrated as possible.
