Motan politely smiled at the petite girl in front of him, whom he had only seen from afar in the contestant preparation area the day before. She now had her beautiful silver hair braided in three strands, with sweet features and fair skin, and greeted Theresa Tarosa.

"Ah..."

Theresa was momentarily stunned, then shook her head with a slight blush and softly said, "Those words should be from me to you. Your accomplishments in Misha County and Sumer, Black Vatican Priest, are far beyond what someone like me, who has always lived in the comfort of academia, could compare to."

After fluently finishing this sentence, even Theresa herself was taken aback. She had hardly been able to communicate with strangers in the past, yet now, during their ’first’ conversation, she acted so naturally, which was rather astounding.

"Let’s forget about Misha County..."

Motan sheepishly rubbed the tip of his nose and said with a bitter smile, "How did the fuss I caused in Sumer spread here too?"

He admitted it straightforwardly, driven by some subtle intuition and resonance, as if his business-like excuse would not work on this girl in front of him.

"Just a guess from reviewing the battle reports there..."

Theresa lowered her eyes and mumbled softly, "Not many can see it, but I’ll keep it a secret for you. Oh! I accidentally told Foster and Lian before... I’m sorry."

Motan shook his head and waved it off, saying, "It’s not a big deal, so no worries. I’m just curious why today it was you, Lady Theresa, facing me instead of Foster. Does he really want to win against me so badly?"

"Just call me Theresa!"

The girl inexplicably emphasized the address issue, then nervously looked down at her toes and said with a blush, "Actually... actually it wasn’t Foster’s idea. I asked him to arrange it... because I... I wanted to fight you, Black Vatican Priest."

Motan blinked and curiously pointed at his nose, "You want to fight me? Why?"

"It’s... it’s because... because... I saw those reports on the two previous times you commanded, and I thought you were amazing... but since I didn’t sign up before..."

The girl stammered a bunch before cautiously glancing at Motan’s subtly expression and timidly asking, "Do you believe it?"

"Theoretically, I should believe it."

Motan tugged at the corner of his mouth with a helpless laugh, "But after hearing your last sentence... it feels like there’s more to it."

Theresa pursed her lips, and her beautiful silver-gray eyes gradually began to fill with a mist of tears, simply put, she was on the verge of crying.

[Ah... did I say something mean? Why does it look like she’s about to cry! Is this girl a bit too delicate?!]

Motan immediately felt stuck and then thought, compared to the heaps of trouble he was facing at the moment, why this seemingly harmless girl wanted to fight him didn’t seem so important. He coughed lightly, preparing to say something offhand to shift the topic.

Even without any basis, Motan felt continuing this topic would somehow lead to something more frightening than Theresa bursting into tears.

Result—

"Because I like you!"

Before Motan could change the topic, Theresa suddenly shouted that sentence with all her might. However, considering her voice was genuinely sweet, even shouting didn’t sound harsh, instead inexplicably felt soothing.

But if considering the content of this sentence, for Motan at this moment, it was far more than just soothing; it was directly punching towards a cardiac arrest level!

The air froze at that moment, for the next, still frozen, and the one after, still frozen.

Continuing to freeze for a full five minutes, during which both Motan and Theresa fell into some near-crash stiff state.

Finally, after five minutes, the girl, too shaky to support herself, simply knelt on the ground, breaking the silence in a posture reminiscent of prostrating in an old year ceremony.

"You know... though I want to tell myself I must have heard wrong, but..."

Motan, whose back was almost soaked with cold sweat, forced a complex smile, then dragged a chair over and helped Theresa to sit on it. He said in a hoarse voice to the nearly exhausted-seeming girl, "I feel like there might be a misunderstanding here."

The girl curled up on the chair shivered and mumbled something in a voice humans couldn’t hear.

Motan blinked, "What?"

"No... there will be..."

"Huh?"

"No misunderstanding!"

The girl on the chair bit her lower lip, stared fiercely into Motan’s eyes filled with little question marks, and said word by word, "I! Just! Like! You, Black Vatican Priest!"
