Forbidden Women Only Empire Where NO Man Could Set Foot. [Eden’s Vault]
Chapter 51: Midnight Stroll with Medusa
The last bites of Medusa’s spiced sand-drake and Euryale’s glazed forest meats had long since disappeared.
Hyun-woo leaned back against the cushioned bench, his one arm still loosely wrapped around Vespera’s waist.
The ancient dragoness hadn’t moved an inch from his lap. Her weight pressed comfortably against his thighs. Her six golden eyes were half-lidded in quiet contentment, her long midnight tail curled possessively around his calf beneath the table. She never knew she could feel this content and comfortable.
She made no attempt to leave, and honestly? He wasn’t in any hurry to make her.
“Still comfortable?” he murmured, his voice low and teasing as his free hand absently traced small circles on her hip through the silk.
Vespera gave a soft hum, nuzzling just a fraction closer to his chest. “A Sovereign’s throne is wherever she chooses to sit, Consort.”
On his left, Stheno let out a dramatic snort, her golden tail thumping once against his leg.
Ebonara, pressed warmly to his right, had gone suspiciously quiet—her eight gem-like eyes swirling with shifting colors as she watched the two of them.
Euryale pushed her chair back with a sharp scrape of wood on stone. “Ugh. I’m not watching this anymore,” she muttered, gathering empty platters with practiced efficiency.
Her emerald snake-hair hissed in mild annoyance as she began clearing the table, clearly opting out of whatever storm was brewing. “You lot clean up your own mess later.” Her thumbs were already twitching toward her console controller.
No one stopped her.
The moment Euryale left the room, Ebonara leaned in close to Hyun-woo’s ear, her full breasts brushing deliberately against his arm.
Her breath was warm, carrying that sweet, intoxicating scorpion-musk as she whispered, low and velvet-soft: “Cutie pie… come spend the night with me. In my cavern. Just us. I want you all to myself tonight.”
Her voice was meant for him alone, but in the quiet dining room, it carried just enough. Stheno’s golden-red eyes snapped wide. Medusa’s cool gaze sharpened from across the table. Even Vespera’s ears twitched.
Hyun-woo’s lips curved into a slow, mischievous grin. He turned his head just enough to meet Ebonara’s swirling gem-eyes, his voice light and playful. “Oh? Is the big, scary scorpion queen feeling lonely already? After all that belly-rub therapy earlier?”
Ebonara’s cheeks flushed a faint violet beneath her pale skin. “Shut up,” she hissed, but there was no real heat in it, only flustered affection as her tail curled tighter around his ankle.
Stheno barked a loud, teasing laugh, leaning forward so her wild golden snake-hair spilled across the table. “Hah! Look at you, getting all whispery and needy!”
Medusa rose from her cushion, her long serpent tail gliding silently as she circled the table.
A rare, cool smirk played on her lips, the green crystal pendant he’d given her swaying gently between her breasts. “How bold, Ebonara. Whispering your desires like a shy maiden when you usually just pin him down. Are we making you nervous, dear sister-in-chaos?”
Ebonara’s gem-eyes flashed crimson for a second, her tail lashing once in embarrassment. “You two can choke on your own venom for all I fucking care! I was just being nice, not to hurt your pussy-tingling feelings!”
Stheno shot up, golden scales rippling as she jabbed a clawed finger at the scorpion girl. “Shut up, you bitch! Like your pussy isn’t tingling to begin with? You dropped him in the desert and tried to eat him! I at least gave him a proper date before claiming anything!”
“You hissing, scale-brained brute…!” Ebonara snarled back, rising to meet her.
Their voices climbed in that familiar, explosive rhythm—tails whipping, snake-hair hissing, insults flying like sparks. It was almost comforting at this point, like background music to their strange little home.
Hyun-woo chuckled softly, one hand still resting on Vespera’s hip as he watched the show. Vespera merely observed with amusement, though her own tail gave a tiny, jealous flick.
Medusa, having completed her slow circle, stopped directly in front of Hyun-woo. She leaned down, cool fingers brushing his cheek with surprising gentleness. Her emerald eyes locked onto his, soft and inviting beneath her usual icy poise.
“Wanna come with me?” she asked simply.
Hyun-woo tilted his head, smiling up at her. “Where to?”
A faint, genuine smile touched Medusa’s lips. “Rounding our territory.”
His answer was immediate. “Yeah. Why not?”
Who wouldn’t want a peaceful stroll through glowing woods with one of the most beautiful, powerful women I've ever met, especially after the chaos of the day? he thought. Plus, I really want to see the territory, too.
Ebonara and Stheno’s argument stuttered to a halt mid-insult as they both turned, staring at him and Medusa with matching expressions of ultimate betrayal.
“Cutie pie…!” Ebonara protested.
“You traitor!” Stheno added, though her voice cracked with reluctant fondness.
Vespera simply nestled deeper into his lap for one final moment, as if memorizing the warmth, before gracefully sliding off with a dramatic little sigh. “Enjoy your walk, Consort. I shall… reflect on freedom, as you suggested.”
Hyun-woo stood, brushing a quick, reassuring pat across Vespera’s forehead, then ruffled Stheno’s golden snake-hair and gave Ebonara’s hand a gentle squeeze. “I’ll be back soon. Promise.”
Medusa slipped her cool hand into his, their fingers intertwining naturally.
As they stepped out through the arched doorway, the loud, echoing bickering of the treehouse faded into an absolute, tranquil silence.
The forest embraced them the moment they crossed the Gorgon house threshold. Cool mist curled around their ankles, carrying the sweet scent of night-blooming flowers and damp earth.
Massive trees pulsed with faint green sap, their leaves rustling softly even without wind. Glowing blue mushrooms dotted the ground like lanterns, and tiny luminous insects danced between branches in lazy spirals.
Medusa led him along a winding path only she seemed to know, her serpent tail gliding silently beside them. “There are four main access points we maintain,” she explained, her voice calm and measured. “It’s not that there is a barrier all around the outer forest. These places are just more likely to get invaded because of the less dense forest.”
They reached the first location after a short walk. A massive stone arch, cracked down the middle as if split by an ancient blade, stood half-buried in glowing moss. Silver runes pulsed faintly along its edges.
“This one leads toward the eastern dunes,” Medusa said, placing a cool hand on the stone.
Hyun-woo ran his fingers over the cool carvings. “Feels… watchful.”
Medusa’s snakes brushed his shoulder approvingly. “It is.”
Deeper in, the path opened to a serene pool fed by a small waterfall. The water glowed a soft turquoise, reflecting starlight and the silver veins in the surrounding stone trees. Ripples moved in patterns that almost looked like words.
“This connects to that bitchy mermaid territory,” Medusa murmured, standing close enough that her cool shoulder brushed his.
“I have to ask about the 'bitchy' part,” Hyun-woo prompted.
“You will see.” She didn’t explain further.
Hyun-woo didn’t press. Instead, he dipped his fingers into the water. It was refreshingly cool. Rather than looking at the pool, he turned his gaze to her profile, tracing the elegant slope of her jaw with his eyes.
“Beautiful,” he said softly.
She caught his meaning and allowed herself a small, fleeting smile. She liked it when he unexpectedly did things like that for no reason at all.
The third spot was wilder. Thick vines covered in glowing thorns formed a natural, living gate. The thorns parted slightly at Medusa’s approach, revealing a narrow passage leading toward rocky badlands.
“Now, this is the western exit,” she said. “Most dangerous. The thorns remember enemies. They’ll impale anything that doesn’t belong.”
Hyun-woo watched a small night creature get gently redirected by the vines. “Smart defense.”
Medusa nodded, pride flickering in her emerald eyes.
The final access point opened into a hidden glade bathed in soft moonlight. A gentle hill overlooked a vast carpet of glowing flowers that pulsed in slow, rhythmic waves of silver and soft blue, perfectly in sync with the stars scattered across the canopy above.
The air was thick with their delicate, sweet floral fragrance—light and intoxicating, like fresh honeyed dew mixed with cool night-blooming jasmine.
A soft, warm breeze carried the faint, earthy aroma of trees and the clean, mineral scent of nearby stone, brushing gently across their skin.
The moss underfoot was thick, velvety, and springy, yielding softly with every step like walking on living clouds warmed by the day’s lingering heat.
Medusa spread a thick silver fur blanket across the moss with a graceful flick of her tail. The blanket was incredibly soft, almost silky against the skin, and retained a pleasant residual warmth that countered the crisp night air.
A small basket waited on a flat stone, clearly prepared in advance by her quiet magic.
Inside were wrapped snacks that still carried the faint smoky sweetness of the earlier meal, along with a flask of chilled nectar. When Hyun-woo took a sip, the liquid was crisp and refreshingly cool, with a subtle floral sweetness and a faint honeyed aftertaste that lingered pleasantly on his tongue.
They settled down side by side on the blanket. Hyun-woo could feel the cool smoothness of Medusa’s emerald scales brushing against his leg through the fabric, a refreshing contrast to the gentle warmth radiating from the moss beneath them.
Her dark lotus and fresh rain scent wrapped around him, subtle yet intoxicating in the quiet glade. The distant rustle of leaves and the soft, melodic chirping of nocturnal creatures created a soothing, natural symphony.
They enjoyed the peace for a long while, sharing the nectar and light bites in a comfortable, grounding silence. Then Medusa spoke, her voice quieter than usual, carrying a rare note of vulnerability.
“Hyun-woo… why do you stay? With all of us? We are jealous, possessive, dangerous. No matter how beautiful we are, most men would run.”
He leaned back on his hands, the soft fur and moss cradling him as he gazed at the stars twinkling through the canopy. “Because... how do I put this into words? Your possessiveness, your neediness, your jealousy—even the annoyed faces you make—they are all just so precious to me. You make me feel so pampered that I never want to lose it.”
Medusa just looked at him as if he had grown a second head. Then, she smacked him in the arm.
“Ow! Hey, that hurts!” He dramatically grabbed the spot where she had just hit him.
“Just kidding,” he continued softly. “To be honest, you people feel like home. You’re people who’ve been hurt, cursed, and still choose to protect what matters. Ebonara’s obsessiveness, Stheno’s fire, Euryale’s hidden softness… and you.”
He turned to face her fully, his eyes steady. “You carry the weight of being the eldest with such grace. Your cool touch, your quiet strength… it feels like home now.”
Medusa’s slit pupils dilated, her snakes curling gently around his arm with silky, cool scales that sent a pleasant shiver through him.
“Home…” she repeated softly, tasting the word as if it were a foreign concept. “I have not heard that in centuries. Most see us as curses. Weapons. Things to be feared or used. Even after knowing everything… you look at me and see a person.”
Hyun-woo smiled gently, squeezing her hand. The contrast of her cool skin against his warmth felt deeply grounding. “Maybe because when I saw you laughing in the boutique, protecting me from those idiots at the base, and the way your snakes nuzzle closer when you think I’m not looking. You’re more than the myths, Medusa. You’re kind in your own way. Protective. Beautiful.”
A faint blush colored her pale cheeks, barely visible in the silver moonlight. She rested her head against his shoulder, her cool breath brushing his neck like a soothing breeze.
“Flatterer. You make it sound so simple,” she murmured. “I was cold for so long, inside and out. The kind of cold that seeps into your bones and never leaves. But when you touch me… I feel warm and alive. You warm me without burning, Hyun-woo. How do you do that?”
“Because I care,” he said simply, his thumb gently stroking her cool skin. “I don’t want to change you. I just want to be here with you, all of you. The chaos, the jealousy, the protectiveness… it’s part of what makes this feel real. I used to think I had nothing special. No talent, no place. Now I have all of you. And yeah, it’s messy, but it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
Medusa let out a soft, almost disbelieving laugh that vibrated against his shoulder. “You are far too kind for this world. Dangerous, even. One day we might overwhelm you with our possessiveness.” Her voice dropped to a conspiratorial whisper.
“But I find myself hoping you never leave. Stay longer tonight?”
Hyun-woo wrapped an arm around her, pulling her closer into his chest. Her scales were smooth and refreshing where they pressed against him, a perfect balance against his own body heat under the starlit sky.
“As long as you want,” he promised. “I’m not going anywhere.”
In the peaceful glade, under the watchful stars, the soft glow of flowers pulsed around them like living constellations. The forest hummed its gentle, ancient song, and the chaos of the world felt beautifully, completely distant.
