I and Aeri sat side by side in the theatre, chatting about random things while more and more people came in and filled the seats. The auditorium was getting fuller by the minute, and the excited chatter of the crowd mixed with the sound of advertisements playing on the big screen. The lights were dim, and the air smelled faintly of popcorn and sweet drinks from the snack counter outside.

"See, I told you it’s a good movie," she said proudly, placing her hand on her chest. "You should listen to me when I recommend something."

"Yes, yes. I listened, that’s why we are here now watching this movie together," I said, reaching out and gently placing a finger under her chin. I pulled her a little closer to me, our faces inches apart.

She scanned the entire auditorium, her eyes moving from row to row. People were settling in their seats, chatting quietly, eating popcorn, and getting comfortable. "The entire theatre has almost filled up," she said casually, still looking around, "but the seats in front of us and the three seats on your right are still empty." She blinked a few times, trying to make sense of it.

"Haha... I see... it’s okay," I replied, placing my hand on the back of my head and keeping the nervous smile. "I mean, we get more privacy. Who wants to stay covered by strange humans?"

"Ehhh? How does that make any sense?" Aeri asked, tilting her head. "I mean, that’s true, but it feels too odd... as if they are avoiding us and sitting somewhere else. Haha." She covered her mouth with her hand and laughed lightly at the silly thought.

"Haha, yeah, true...it’s weird" I laughed along with her, trying my best to sound relaxed and innocent. Inside, my stomach was twisting a little. I kept my face calm, but I was sweating more now.

Aeri shook her head, still smiling, and leaned back in her seat. The theatre lights started dimming even more, and the advertisements on the big screen began to fade. The intro music for the movie started playing softly.

"Ohh, it’s starting..." Aeri said, sitting up straight with excitement in her voice. She adjusted her short white skirt and looked at the screen eagerly.

"Yeah... right, right," I said, sitting up straighter too. I tried to focus on the screen, but my mind was elsewhere.

I gulped quietly to myself. Only I knew the truth — I had bought not just two tickets, but eight. I had reserved the entire front row and the three seats on my right side.
