Chapter 384: Promises under Sunsetz

We walked side by side along the quiet evening street, our hands gently holding each other. The cool breeze felt nice after the warm day, and the orange glow of the setting sun made everything look soft and beautiful. Dry leaves moved across the pavement near our feet as we talked about what to do.

"So, where should we go first?" I asked, swinging our hands a little.

Aeri thought for a moment, then smiled. "How about we watch a movie together before dinner? There’s a new one I wanted to see."

"That sounds perfect," I replied. "Movie first, then we can eat something nice afterward."

After a few more minutes of light discussion, we finally decided on the plan. I took out my phone and pressed the button to call a cab.

*Beep*

"I guess I should buy a car now already," I said, looking at Aeri. "What do you say?"

"Umm... that’s up to you, Ezra," she replied slowly, careful with her words. "But do you have that much capital on you?"

"Pfft... haha..." I laughed, trying to cover my face because her question was so thoughtful and sweet.

"Ehhh, what are you laughing at?" she asked, swatting my shoulder playfully.

"I have the money... don’t worry," I said, pulling her closer by the waist. I kept my gaze straight on her face, smiling warmly.

The wind blew gently around us, making her hair move softly. Under the orange evening glow, she looked absolutely gorgeous. Her cheeks turned a light shade of pink as she blushed.

"I see..." she muttered quietly, looking down for a moment.

"Yep, I have saved enough to buy us a new home as well," I said, nodding slowly with a proud smile.

"Woahhh..." Aeri’s mouth opened slowly in happiness, her eyes widening.

"Yep. Our house," I said, showing my teeth in a bright, excited smile.

"Thank you, Ezra..." Aeri said softly. She placed her hand gently on my right cheek, her touch warm and full of affection. Her eyes looked at me with so much love and gratitude that it made my chest feel tight in a good way.

The street was peaceful, with a few people passing by and the soft sound of leaves rustling under our feet. Aeri stayed close to me, her shoulder brushing against mine every few steps. Even after everything that had happened — the hospital, the strange memories, the worries — this simple moment felt perfect.

I squeezed her hand gently. "I want to give you a good life, Aeri. A real home. Just us."

She smiled shyly and leaned her head against my arm for a second. "You already do. Every day."

Our faces moved closer and closer until our lips met in a slow, passionate kiss. We stood there on the footpath under the beautiful orange sunset, completely lost in each other. Our lips moved gently at first, then with more warmth and feeling. The world around us seemed to fade away — the sound of passing cars, the cool evening breeze, everything disappeared for those few seconds. It was just me and Aeri, sharing a quiet, loving moment together.

*Beep*

The sharp sound of a car horn suddenly broke the moment. We slowly pulled apart from the kiss, our lips still tingling. A taxi had stopped right beside us on the road.

"Heyy... did you order the taxi?" the driver asked, lowering his window and looking at us with a slightly impatient expression.

We both blinked, still a little dazed from the kiss. I turned toward the driver and nodded.

"Yess, just a second," I said aloud, trying to sound normal even though my heart was still beating fast.

"I guess we should go now," Aeri said, smiling cheerfully at me. Her cheeks were still a little pink from the kiss, and her eyes sparkled under the sunset light.

"Yeah, we should," I replied, smiling back. I opened the door of the backseat for her and held it gently while she sat inside. I made sure she was comfortable before closing the door softly.

*Thud*

I walked around and sat beside her in the backseat, closing my own door with a quiet sound. The inside of the taxi smelled clean and fresh, and the seats were soft.

"Yes, we are ready to leave, captain," I said to the driver with a light tone.

"Straight to the theatre," the driver repeated, nodding once before starting the car. The engine hummed softly as we began moving down the road.

The car glided gently along the pavement. We sat in comfortable silence for a while, both of us looking out the windows at the beautiful evening view. The sky was painted in shades of orange and pink, and the city lights were starting to glow as the sun slowly set. Trees and buildings passed by in a soft blur.

"The scenery is so good, right?" Aeri asked, her voice full of wonder. She kept staring outside, mesmerized by the colors in the sky.

"Truly..." I replied, looking at the sunset. But my eyes kept drifting back to her. She looked even more beautiful in this light, with her white crop top and mini skirt, her hair moving slightly from the open window.

"Hope the movie is also good like this," I said, continuing the conversation.

"It’s good. Come on. It’s one of the high-rated and trending ones right now," Aeri said, trying to convince me with an enthusiastic tone. She turned toward me, her eyes bright and hopeful.

"Yes, yes, we are watching it anyways," I said, nodding and smiling to calm her down. I reached over and gently held her hand in mine. Her fingers felt warm and soft.

Aeri smiled back and leaned her head against my shoulder for a moment. The taxi continued moving smoothly through the evening traffic. The city looked alive with lights, people walking on the sidewalks, and the gentle hum of the car engine. Everything felt peaceful and right.

Even though I still had questions and worries in the back of my mind about what had happened to her before the hospital, right now I just wanted to enjoy this moment with her. Aeri seemed happy, and that was enough for me.
