Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband

Chapter 397: I Don’t Want To Turn The Page

  • Next Chapter

Overwhelmed by Yvonne’s aura of authority, the crowd didn’t dare to say anything. They continued to eat with their heads down. And no one bothered to pay attention to what she was going to say.

Lisa had to return to her seat.

Brant glanced at the crowd and spoke, "Yvonne, let’s talk after dinner."

"Okay then."

Yvonne was not in a hurry. She lowered herself into the sofa and waited patiently.

Brant returned to his seat, with no appetite.

Under the watchful eye of Yvonne, the Whites finished the meal quickly. All of them obviously felt something wrong.

"Brant, we’re too stuffed. We will go back first," Jane said and hurriedly gave her husband and daughter a wink.

Brant did not stop. "Goodbye."

Jane hurriedly dragged her husband and daughter towards the door.

Suddenly, Yvonne spoke, "Uncle Brian, Aunt Jane, what a pity you have to leave so soon!"

Brian and Jane looked at each other. Then Jane spoke, "We’re full now. And Jeanette has to do her homework."

"Mom, I don’t have homework today."

Thanks to Jeanette, Yvonne detected Jane’s lie.

Jane glared at Jeanette, and Jeanette shut her mouth.

But it was already too late.

Yvonne only felt amused. "Please don’t rush back. I want you to be the witnesses."

Hearing this, Brian and Jane were stunned for a moment. And then they coincidentally looked at Grace, who was sitting there calmly, without even raising her eyes.

Brian and Jane were now in a difficult position.

"Yvonne..."

Yvonne, however, turned to look at Ralph and Lisa.

Lisa naturally knew what she meant. After a pause, she said, "Yvonne, Ralph and I are not leaving. Just say what you want."

After she finished, Ralph nodded in agreement.

Seeing this, Yvonne smiled and looked at her father Brant.

Brant didn’t say anything. He looked at her and then turned his head to look at Grace, who was eating with her head down. Finally, he got up and sighed, "Yvonne, just say it. We’re listening."

Other people at the table put their knives and forks down.

And Jane and Brian returned to their seats.

Yvonne got up and walked over. "Then I will not beat around the bush. It’s an important event that happened more than ten years ago."

The crowd was stunned and looked at her in confusion.

Yvonne saw their faces and continued, "Some of you must know what happened to my mother."

Their faces changed instantly.

Lisa reacted and hurriedly sent away her son who did not know anything. And Jane also sent away his daughter.

Brant quickly dismissed all the servants present and said seriously.

"Yvonne, it’s water under the bridge. Don’t mention it again."

Brant was reluctant to mention it.

Yvonne retorted resolutely, "I don’t want to turn the page."

...

Brant knew Yvonne well. Having once decided to do something, she would not give up easily. He said after a pause, "If you want to know what happened, come with me to the study."

He got up and was about to leave.

"Just talk here." Yvonne refused.

Brant’s face fell. He scowled at Yvonne and snapped, "Yvonne, be sensible."

"Dad, do you know why I have to say it here?" Yvonne asked rhetorically.

Brant didn’t quite understand what she was trying to say.

Yvonne snorted, "You talked about my mother loudly and offensively. How come I’m not allowed to bring that ’scandal’ up now?"

Her tone was thick with sarcasm.

Brant was embarrassed.

He said stubbornly, "That’s not the same thing."

"Why? Because Grandpa isn’t in charge this time?" Yvonne questioned.

She sounded sarcastic.

All the people in the room were embarrassed and silent.

"Yvonne, no more nonsense!" Brant snapped.

Yvonne gave a small snort of laughter.

Her gaze swept over everyone’s faces and finally landed on Grace’s.

From the moment Yvonne brought up the death of her mother, Grace had been very calm as if all this had nothing to do with her.

And when she looked at Grace, Grace didn’t avoid her eyes at all.

Yvonne had a feeling of doubt and uncertainty, whereas Grace was being deliberately provocative.

It was as if she was saying, "Try me. I’m not afraid!"

Yvonne was a bit puzzled. <How on earth can Grace be so calm?

She doesn’t seem afraid of being seen through.

Well, we’ll see.>

Thinking of this, Yvonne looked at Brant and said, "Don’t you want to know the truth of what was really going on?"

In the face of her question, Brant did not answer but slowly hung his head.

Yvonne sneered, "You never believe my mother, did you? You thought she was a slut, right?"

"I didn’t think that!" Brant said.

"Then what did you think about her?" Yvonne pressed.

Brant fell silent.

Yvonne knew Brant wouldn’t issue a question even if he believed his mother. After all, he was cowardly.

Yvonne snorted and continued, "Since none of you ever questioned it in the first place, let me tell you the truth about what happened back then."

Yvonne took out her cell phone from her handbag and held it up. "Listen up, every one of you! My mother didn’t do that."

Yvonne played the recording.

The next second, a familiar voice rang out.

"You’re Jeff?"

"Yes, I’m Jeff."

"Do you know who I am?"

"Yeah ... you want to ask me about what happened more than ten years ago."

"Yup."

"I always planned on telling you. I’ve been holding it all inside for too long. It’s so good that I can tell the truth before I die."

The voice on the recording paused.

Yvonne looked at the crowd and said, "Do you know who Jeff is?"

The crowd was all at a loss, except for Brant and Grace, of course.

Yvonne knew it.

...

She stopped beating around the bush and said directly, "It’s the man who appeared in the photo."

After she finished speaking, she ignored the surprised looks and continued to play the video.

"Back then, I was still a fourth- year student who was about to graduate. Once during the school celebration, I fell in love with a female classmate..."

As the recording went on, the crowd quieted.

Yvonne noticed the change in everyone’s expressions, from interest to eagerness and then to confusion.

In the recording, she asked a question, "So you mean you were forced to pose?"

"Tell me, what’s the name of the female student who threatened you to do all this?"

"Grace White."

The recording stopped abruptly at this point.

Everyone present was stunned, and they all turned to look at Grace.

However, Grace sat there as if it had nothing to do with her. After everyone looked at her, she responded in surprise.

"Why are you all looking at me? Do you really believe that?"

She sneered and said, "With just one unconvincing recording? Who can prove that the person who spoke was the man from back then? What a load of crap."

She snorted and continued, "What’s more, I was busy with the graduate examination. How could I have time to do that kind of boring thing? What’s more, what’s my motive?"

She wore an absurd smile.

Yvonne finally understood what it meant to not cry until you see your coffin.

Things were already like this, yet Grace was still trying to argue her way out.

If she thought she could get away, she was very wrong. Yvonne sneered, then she took out a few photos from her handbag and said, "It doesn’t matter if you don’t admit it. Everyone can look at this."

With that, she threw the photos on the table.

Everyone looked over at the same time, and when they saw the contents of the photo, they could not help but be shocked.

"Heavens! How could this be?!"

Someone suddenly let out a sharp cry. Everyone looked at Grace with faces of

disbelief.

Grace felt that something was wrong, so she looked over. However, upon seeing the photos, her face changed instantly.

She quickly grabbed the photos from the table and wanted to hide them, but it was already too late. Yvonne picked them up before her.

Grace missed and glared at her angrily.

Yvonne sneered and said, "You must be very curious about where these photos came from."

Grace kept quiet.

Yvonne snorted and said, "These are from my mother’s belongings. When you had a crush on my father, my mother accidentally took these photos. You must have not thought that my mother had these pieces of evidence."

Grace’s face turned pale.

"That’s why you framed her, isn’t it?"

Yvonne questioned Grace fiercely.

Only now did the members of the White family understand, and they asked before Grace could answer Yvonne.

"Grace, you’ve actually been secretly in love with Brant this entire time?"

"Is this the reason why you haven’t been married?"

Faced with the crowd’s questions, Grace’s expression grew uglier and uglier.

It was as if someone had exposed her naked.

But for her, this embarrassment only lasted for an instant before she recovered her senses.

"So what? Is it wrong for me to like Brant?"

She acted as if she was in the right, and her stance made everyone shut their mouths immediately.
