Chapter 745: 744 Mo Xiuchen hates her
Qin Mu’s eyes flickered, a light smile traced across his lips, one which seemed to reveal that she had seen through his thoughts, “You’ve seen through me, the truth is, I’m feeling tired and I want to go back.”
Wen Ran raised her eyebrows slightly, noticing the faint traces of fatigue in Qin Mu’s demeanor.
She laughed and said, “Then let’s go back. We probably will have to stay until late, they seem to be really enjoying singing.”.
Luo Haofeng had to return to City C tomorrow, so he probably wasn’t in a very good mood tonight.
Hence, he sang songs to alleviate his tension and sadness.
When Luo Haofeng and An Lin finished singing a song, there was a brief pause.
Qin Mu then informed them that he and Wen Ran had to leave early, and told them to take their time and enjoy themselves.
Luo Haofeng simply waved off, eyes fixated on the TV screen, ignoring the departure of Qin Mu and Wen Ran.
An Lin’s eyes wandered between the two of them, before she finally chuckled and said, “Ah Mu, please make sure Ran Ran gets home safely.”
She rarely had time to unwind, and didn’t want to go home early tonight either.
But she didn’t want to keep Qin Mu and Wen Ran if they were tired, hence, she let them leave.
The pair reached the parking lot, and Wen Ran extended her hand to Qin Mu, “Give me the car keys.”
Qin Mu paused, a flicker of confusion crossed his handsome face. Wen Ran calmly explained, “Aren’t you tired? I will drive, you can rest.”
“No need to, I’m a little tired, but not enough to be unable to drive.”
With a slight curve of his lips, he pressed the remote control and opened the passenger door, indicating for Wen Ran to get in.
Wen Ran stood in front of the car, her delicate facial features portraying a seriousness, her gaze calmly resting on Qin Mu. She had no intention of getting in the car.
“Wen Ran, I really am okay,” Qin Mu insisted.
Seeing Wen Ran’s serious expression, he felt a sense of warmth arise from within.
He sighed helplessly and handed her the car keys, “Alright then, you’ll drive.”
With that said, he got into the passenger’s seat.
A smile finally bloomed on Wen Ran’s face.
She got into the driver’s seat and found Qin Mu already buckled in, and looking at her with a smile.
“This morning, was it Mo Xiuchen who texted you?”
Wen Ran had just reached for her seatbelt when Qin Mu suddenly broke the silence, causing her to pause.
But it was only a momentary pause, as she then smiled lightly, wrapping her seatbelt around her and calmly acknowledging, “Yes, it was him.”
Qin Mu quietly pursed his lips, saying nothing.
Wen Ran paused, then added, “Mo Xiuchen said that he found a new secretary.”
“A new secretary? What about Cheng Jia, didn’t she stay by Mo Xiuchen’s side even after he lost his memory? Is it possible that Mo Xiuchen still dislikes her?”
Surprise flitted across Qin Mu’s eyes as he stared solemnly at Wen Ran.
That Mo Xiuchen, he was always an odd one.
If he really still dislikes Cheng Jia after the memory loss, that would be normal, right?
Speaking of Cheng Jia, a delicate smile inadvertently spread across Wen Ran’s lips.
Her voice carrying more joy than before, she said, “Yes, Mo Xiuchen said he dislikes his previous secretary, and that he had even bought her a ticket to send her back home, to spare him from seeing her around.”
Qin Mu felt a strange mixture of emotions.
He felt a little happy, a little sour, surprised, and partially relieved…
In the dimly lit car, Wen Ran’s eyes shone like stars, their brilliance each ebb and flow affected his emotions, completely out of his control.
Whenever Mo Xiuchen was mentioned, she seemed to transform into a completely different person.
Or perhaps, it was only when talking about Mo Xiuchen that Wen Ran could genuinely be happy.
Her smile radiated a sincere joy, making those around her feel happy for her.
“Mo Xiuchen’s previous secretary was Cheng Jia, right? It seems that Mo Xiuchen, he really does… still dislike Cheng Jia even after losing his memories.”
Qin Mu’s lips curled into a delighted smile, expressing confidence and pride in his words, no one could compare to Mo Xiuchen.
Wen Ran nodded, “That should be the case. Cheng Jia stayed with him, not only as his fiancée but also as his secretary. But why would she agree to go back home?”
Wen Ran could imagine the cold demeanor Mo Xiuchen had towards Cheng Jia. Cheng Jia must be heartbroken.
Qin Mu chuckled, “Mo Xiuchen has his ways. Even though he lost his memories, his character remains the same. If he dislikes Cheng Jia, naturally, he wouldn’t want her close by. You don’t have to worry, Mo Xiuchen will surely come back to you.”
Wen Ran looked at Qin Mu, her eyes brimming with anticipation and fear, “Really?”
How she wished Mo Xiuchen would come back to her.
But she knew clearly that it was impossible for her and Mo Xiuchen to be together again.
That Mo Xiuchen would remember her number, send her messages, and communicate with her this way, she was already very grateful to heaven.
She wouldn’t dare to be overly ambitious.
Back then, when Cheng Jia had forced her to swear an oath, she was only hoping for Mo Xiuchen to live well.
As long as Mo Xiuchen was alive and well, it didn’t matter where he lived or who he was with, she could accept it.
While in A City, Fu Jingyi had said, when the person you loved forgets you and lives happily with another woman, then you’d understand what absolute despair feels like.
There were indeed times, when she felt like she was living in absolute despair.
But so what? She won’t be deranged like Fu Jingyi.
Nor would she be as despicable as Cheng Jia. She could control herself, even if it was she herself who was dying of pain, she wouldn’t hurt the person she loved.
This… was perhaps what differentiated them.
They were both hurt, both enduring the pain of their beloved one leaving, but their actions were different.
The brightness in her eyes was gradually replaced by gentleness.
Drawing her gaze away from Qin Mu, she stared ahead and spoke softly within the confines of the car, “I am not yearning for Mo Xiuchen to come back to me. My biggest wish now is to maintain this relationship with Mo Xiuchen. If it could stay this way for my entire life, I will be content.”
Qin Mu looked at her beautiful face, felt her stoicism, and sensed the contradictions in her emotions.
His heart suddenly ached and he blurted out, “Ran Ran.”
Hearing his words, Wen Ran’s body stiffened slightly.
This wasn’t the first time Qin Mu addressed her as such.
The atmosphere in the car became strangely delicate.
Having uttered those words, Qin Mu saw Wen Ran’s slightly stiff body, he couldn’t help but let out a bitter smile in his heart.
Wen Ran thought of the time when she jumped off the cliff and how shocked, anguished, and desperate Qin Mu’s voice was as he shouted ‘Ran Ran’.
Other than that shout, there was also the moment they fell off the cliff when Qin Mu held onto her and whispered into her ear, ‘Ran Ran, don’t be scared’.
‘
All of a sudden, her nose stung slightly.
She suddenly didn’t know what to say. For a long time, she hadn’t known about Qin Mu’s feelings for her.
But since that incident where he jumped off the cliff after her, even if she was thick-skinned, she understood it.
As such, she ran away. The moment he woke up, she went back to G City.
Qin Mu was Mo Xiuchen’s good friend. She didn’t want to hurt him, nor could she reciprocate his feelings. There seemed to be no choice but to let him down.
She pursed her lips, a profound sadness began to spread within the depths of her heart.
