Five Broken Beast Husbands, One Wicked Female with a Pocket Dimension
Chapter 97: Clear Wind and Bright Moon
Chapter 97: Chapter 97: Clear Wind and Bright Moon
Looking at Qiao Suluo, Yue Hanzheng was still filled with furious resentment. He had hidden himself away here, yet this vicious female had still managed to find him. He wondered how she had tracked him down.
His handsome brow furrowed tightly, the dark anger in his eyes shifting into despair. He wondered if he would ever be able to escape her clutches. His face was deathly pale. He desperately wanted to ask her why—why did she treat them this way? And then there was Que Hongjin; who knew what he had been through to still be in a coma? In Yue Hanzheng’s eyes, Que Hongjin’s current state was entirely Qiao Suluo’s doing.
"Will you only be satisfied when we’re dead?" he asked, his voice weak and defeated. Looking down at his legs, a bitter smile tugged at the corners of his lips.
Qiao Suluo’s eyes widened in sheer surprise when she saw him. She hadn’t expected to run into Yue Hanzheng here; the system hadn’t warned her, so she had assumed only Que Hongjin was staying in this place.
"Yue Hanzheng?" she said. "I came looking for Que Hongjin. I had no idea you were here too.
"I’ve told you before, I never intended to harm you.
"When you were poisoned with that lethal drug by those two Stewards, I was the one who saved you and woke you up..."
Yue Hanzheng let out a cold scoff. "Don’t tell me a vicious female like you actually expects my gratitude. I was in that state because of you—you were the one who sold me to Medicine King Valley!"
The young servant standing nearby paused in shock before bursting out, "Hold on! Don’t you dare slander our Medicine King Valley! Our Young Valley Master spends his days saving lives and helping the world. He would never buy anyone!
"Do you know how many people fight for the chance to serve our Young Valley Master, only to be turned away?
"Look at how he saved you and that Peacock Beastman. Did he ask either of you for Silver? Did he force you to sign an indenture contract?
"No, he didn’t!
"He gave you a place to stay and used his own precious medicinal herbs to save your lives. How could you smear Medicine King Valley’s name like this?"
Bristling with indignation, the young servant pointed furiously at Yue Hanzheng as he defended his master. Earlier, he had addressed the Young Valley Master simply as "Young Master" because he was instructed to keep a low profile while outside the valley. But these people were going too far; he had no choice but to reveal his master’s true identity.
Yue Hanzheng’s expression shifted uncomfortably at the reprimand.
Qiao Suluo suddenly turned her attention to the servant. Did that mean he worked for the Young Valley Master of Medicine King Valley? As the realization hit her, her eyes lit up. She had searched high and low, yet here was the answer delivered right to her doorstep without any effort at all!
She had been trying to find someone from Medicine King Valley’s Inner Valley, ideally the Valley Master or the Young Valley Master. However, the valley was heavily guarded. Outsiders struggled to even enter the Outer Valley, let alone meet anyone from the Inner Valley. When the system mentioned that the Young Valley Master of Medicine King Valley had saved Que Hongjin, she hadn’t been sure if she would actually get to meet him. Now, it was confirmed.
"May I ask your name?" Qiao Suluo asked the servant politely. "To tell you the truth, I also know a bit of Medical Skill and would like to check on my Beast Husband’s condition." She felt genuine gratitude toward whoever had saved Que Hongjin.
"I don’t need her to check on my body," Yue Hanzheng rejected coldly.
Leaning against the doorframe with his arms crossed, Chu Moyuan replied with an icy tone, "Don’t flatter yourself. The wife isn’t here to examine you, nor does she consider you her Beast Husband. The person she wants to treat is Que Hongjin. This has nothing to do with you."
Hearing this, Yue Hanzheng finally noticed Chu Moyuan standing at the door. His shock deepened. "Chu Moyuan, you... what are you doing here?
"And you’re calling her ’wife’? Weren’t you at the underground auction house?"
Taking in Yue Hanzheng’s utter disbelief, Chu Moyuan stated evenly, "I went home."
"You..." Yue Hanzheng sputtered, still incredulous. "How could the underground auction house just let you go? This vicious female sold you for sixty taels of Silver!"
Qiao Suluo turned to look at Chu Moyuan with a guilty expression. He arched an eyebrow at her, a cool, dry smirk curving his lips. "The Qin Family gave me my indenture contract a long time ago. I tore it up."
Back then, the Qin Family had asked him to lead a team into the Ancient Secret Forest to search for a specific medicinal herb. It was a perilous mission. To secure his agreement, the Qin Family elders had promised to return his indenture contract once the task was complete. Of course, he had nearly lost half his life trying to find that herb for them—only for her to ultimately be the one who found it.
Though Chu Moyuan’s words seemed directed at Yue Hanzheng, he knew he was actually saying them for Qiao Suluo’s benefit. A lot had happened over the past few days, and he had witnessed everything she had done. He was finally willing to trust her.
Yue Hanzheng suddenly remembered how Qiao Suluo had torn up his indenture contract right in front of him. He wondered if this vicious female had really changed.
"Even so, you can’t just trust her blindly," Yue Hanzheng argued. "Who knows what kind of trick she’s playing this time."
Just as the words left his mouth, he realized something was wrong. "Wait, you can hear me?" He had almost forgotten that Chu Moyuan suffered from a hearing impairment.
A deep gleam flashed through Chu Moyuan’s eyes as he spoke softly. "Yes. The wife cured me."
His hearing had already been half-healed, and after awakening his Wind Ability, it had completely recovered. He could even hear distant sounds clearly now. The sensation of being able to hear perfectly again, coupled with his newfound mastery of power, had profoundly transformed his state of mind.
Yue Hanzheng froze, then gasped, "How is that possible?" No matter how much Chu Moyuan and the others praised Qiao Suluo, he refused to believe it. "I don’t know what methods she used to bewitch you all, but it won’t work on me."
He wouldn’t be fooled again. He knew better than anyone what he had endured in Medicine King Valley. A quick death would have been a mercy, yet she had chosen to torture him in such a cruel manner instead.
Observing Yue Hanzheng’s reaction, Bai Qianluo knew that given his stubborn nature, the more they defended their wife, the more suspicious he would become. He would only doubt her further, so Bai Qianluo wisely decided to keep quiet.
Watching the scene unfold, the young servant didn’t know who to believe, but he certainly didn’t dare let Qiao Suluo inside. What if she ended up killing the patient his master was currently treating? He couldn’t afford to take that responsibility. It would ruin the Young Valley Master’s reputation.
As Qiao Suluo moved to enter, the servant blocked her path. "I absolutely cannot let you in without the Young Valley Master’s orders.
"My master went to great lengths to bring that Peacock Beastman back from the brink of death. I can’t risk you going in there and killing him."
Standing at the doorway, Qiao Suluo felt a surge of helpless anxiety. "Then go get your Young Valley Master," she urged. "I’ll speak with him directly so you won’t have to take the blame."
"My master went out to gather medicinal herbs. He’s not inside."
Just then, a man carrying a bamboo basket on his back and wearing a conical hat walked slowly toward them. "Dongqing, let them in," he said softly. His voice rang out, clear, resonant, and ethereal.
It was a remarkably pleasant sound. Qiao Suluo turned her head and looked up, her gaze landing on an elegantly tall and slender man. Dressed in plain white robes, his figure was pristine and his features handsome. He exuded an aura as tranquil as distant mountains and clear waters, radiant like a gentle breeze under a bright moon.
The servant named Dongqing exclaimed excitedly, "Young Valley Master, you’re finally back!" With his master’s return, he felt anchored once again.
