Chapter 93: Chapter 93: Hint

Qiao Suluo was stunned by his question.

For some reason, she felt there was a hint of ambiguity in his words. She wondered if it was just her imagination. With her current figure, that couldn’t be possible, right? She was quite self-aware.

Perhaps he still held a grudge over what she had done in the past?

At this thought, Qiao Suluo steadied herself and asked, "Then what do you want?"

Thinking about his past experiences, she couldn’t help but feel a pang of sympathy for him. Moreover, since she had taken over this body, the original owner’s actions were now her responsibility, and she needed to make amends.

Chu Moyuan looked into Qiao Suluo’s clear, earnest eyes, and the words he was about to say suddenly caught in his throat. His cold, breathtakingly beautiful eyes seemed to darken with a gloomy and restless aura. "I haven’t decided yet. I’ll tell you when I do."

Nearby, Bai Qianluo was boiling mushroom and meat soup in a stone pot. Hearing their exchange, he felt truly glad that he had spoken plainly with his wife earlier. Otherwise, if he had beaten around the bush like Chu Moyuan, his wife would never have understood.

His wife was so wonderful. After spending more time with her, Chu Moyuan had clearly discovered her good qualities too. At this thought, a suffocating tightness gripped Bai Qianluo’s chest.

Once the soup was ready, Bai Qianluo ladled out a bowl for each of them. The three of them sat together, drinking the mushroom and meat soup in a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere.

However, after they finished eating, Bai Qianluo looked at Qiao Suluo. A dark glint flashed through his aloof eyes as he murmured huskily, "Don’t move, wife."

Qiao Suluo, not understanding why, looked up at him. He leaned in close and reached out with his slender fingers, gently wiping the corner of her mouth. His touch was tantalizing, sending a tingling sensation through her that instantly made her mouth go dry.

She couldn’t help but dart her tongue out, accidentally brushing against Bai Qianluo’s fingers. Realizing what she had done, she swallowed hard and said, "I didn’t mean to."

"Mm, you can do it on purpose, wife. You can do whatever you want to me tonight." He certainly wasn’t going to be as vague as Chu Moyuan. He deliberately emphasized the word ’tonight’. If Chu Moyuan hadn’t been sitting right there, he would have made himself even clearer.

Qiao Suluo hurriedly waved her hands. "No, no, I didn’t want to do anything."

In the past, Bai Qianluo had been so distant. He wouldn’t even let her touch him, always looking ethereal and detached from worldly matters. How had he suddenly become such a tease? This time, she definitely understood the implication in his words.

She suddenly recalled what Chu Moyuan had said to her earlier. Could he have meant the same thing?

No, no, no. How could she think of Chu Moyuan like that? She was definitely flattering herself and overthinking things.

Chu Moyuan watched Bai Qianluo with a cold, dark gaze. Was he saying this deliberately in front of him? Was Bai Qianluo marking his territory and displaying his possessiveness?

Then again, it made sense. She was so wonderful that even someone with a cold temperament would want to fight for a place in her heart. Adult males had extremely strong territorial instincts when competing for a female.

Hearing Qiao Suluo’s refusal, Bai Qianluo sighed softly, putting on a sorrowful expression. "Are you dissatisfied with me, wife?

"Or did I make you uncomfortable back then?"

As he spoke, he gently lifted a lock of hair by her ear, twirling it around his finger playfully.

Qiao Suluo’s face instantly burned hot again. She covered her face with her hands, wishing she could find a hole to hide in. Couldn’t he see Chu Moyuan right next to them? How could he say such things so casually? They definitely shouldn’t be acting all lovey-dovey in front of him. She wasn’t that thick-skinned yet.

She thought, "When we rebuild the house, I definitely have to build more rooms so no one disturbs anyone else. And the soundproofing must be excellent."

"No, it’s just that I used up a lot of energy today helping you both awaken your superpowers and treating everyone’s injuries. I’m very tired now and need to rest," she explained.

Seeing Qiao Suluo like this, Bai Qianluo’s heart softened completely. Aching for her, he scooped her up into his arms and carefully laid her on the inner bed, tucking her in securely. "Sleep peacefully, wife. I’ll stay right here and keep watch. Nothing will happen."

Chu Moyuan crossed his arms and let out a cold snort, indicating that he was also there.

With both of them nearby, Qiao Suluo did feel much more at ease. She had indeed exhausted a lot of energy and strength today. Feeling quite weary, she fell asleep shortly after lying down. Bai Qianluo and Chu Moyuan chose to take turns keeping watch for the night.

The next morning.

After Qiao Suluo woke up, Bai Qianluo had already poured water for her to wash up. Once she finished freshening up and eating breakfast, she heard a crisp, cheerful voice.

"Ms. Qiao, I caught these fish early this morning. They’re for you! Thank you for saving my grandmother last night, and for teaching us how to make Immortal Tofu and sharing it with us."

When Lin Yang looked up at Qiao Suluo, his eyes were filled with adoration. Because Old Mrs. Lin was elderly, her movements weren’t as agile as those of the younger Beastmen. She had been severely slashed by a bandit beast and almost lost her life. It was Qiao Suluo who had saved her using her Healing Ability.

Lin Yang wasn’t the only one bringing gifts; the other villagers came one after another to offer things as well. Some had picked wild fruits, some had dug up wild vegetables, and others had saved a portion of their wild beast meat from the previous night to give to her. Everyone was expressing their gratitude.

Some people tactfully asked if they could learn the recipe for Immortal Tofu. Qiao Suluo didn’t refuse, simply asking Lin Yang and the others to teach everyone else. This way, it saved her time and effort.

Looking at the handful of fish, Qiao Suluo planned to pour them out and clean them to make fish ball soup. To her absolute surprise, she spotted small crayfish in the wooden bucket. Although they were a bit tiny, they were definitely small crayfish.

Qiao Suluo took one out and examined it closely, her eyes lighting up. The system had told her to teach the villagers three new foods. Yesterday’s Immortal Tofu counted as one, and these small crayfish could count as another. According to her memories, small crayfish didn’t yet exist as a food source here.

Qiao Suluo asked Bai Qianluo, "Do you remember who brought the fish in this bucket?"

"Qiao Ping brought them."

Qiao Suluo dropped what she was doing and hurried off to find Qiao Ping.

At that moment, Qiao Ping was eating breakfast at the entrance of his family’s cave, having a simple wild vegetable and shredded meat soup. Seeing Qiao Suluo approach, Qiao Ping’s family hurriedly stood up and warmly invited her to join them for the meal. Even though their food wasn’t particularly presentable, they were genuinely grateful to her from the bottom of their hearts.

Qiao Suluo told them not to be so nervous. "Ma’am, please just stay seated. I’m just here to ask Qiao Ping something."

"Go ahead and ask. Qiao Ping, tell Miss Qiao everything you know."

Qiao Ping nodded.

Qiao Suluo took out the small crayfish and showed it to him. "Look, this got into the bucket. Where did you find this?"

Qiao Ping stepped back in fear. "Ms. Qiao, I didn’t mean to! I didn’t know this weird bug got into the bucket. I just caught the fish with a net and dumped them straight in. It must have been tangled in the waterweeds, so it just..."

The faces of Qiao Ping’s parents paled as well. This kind of bug looked quite terrifying, and it could pinch you if you weren’t careful.

Qiao Suluo smiled and said, "This is called a small crayfish, not a weird bug. It’s edible.

"Take me to the river where you caught the fish, and I’ll see if there are any more. When we get back, I’ll make spicy small crayfish and give you some to try. How does that sound?"

Qiao Ping’s eyes instantly lit up. "Ms. Qiao, is this really edible? The shell on this is super hard."

During summer after it rained, they would catch things like cicada nymphs to eat, but those kinds of bugs had soft shells that were delicious whether stir-fried or deep-fried. How could anyone eat this weird bug with such a hard shell?

Qiao Suluo gave a mysterious smile. "You’ll know once I cook it."
