Five Broken Beast Husbands, One Wicked Female with a Pocket Dimension
Chapter 92: Good Fortune
Chapter 92: Chapter 92: Good Fortune
Based on her predecessor’s memories, Qiao Suluo knew there were bandit beasts on this Beast World Continent. They were composed of rogue Beastmen who routinely intercepted and killed other Beastmen to rob their food.
Logically speaking, their County Magistrate governed well and had eradicated the nearby bandit beasts, leaving the entire county town free of them. Because of this, everyone living in the mountain caves had let their guard down. Who could have expected them to suddenly appear while everyone was roasting beast meat?
Anxious, Qiao Suluo quickly inserted the final acupuncture needle and ran to the entrance.
At this moment, Bai Qianluo had just slain a bandit beast with a single strike of his blade. Simultaneously, he tested out channeling his Water Ability. A swirling water tornado formed, directly engulfing two nearby bandit beasts and strangling them to death. Seeing this, Qiao Suluo was shocked; she never expected the Water Ability could be used like this.
As if sensing something, Bai Qianluo turned his head. Looking at Qiao Suluo at the cave entrance, his eyes were gentle and reassuring as he said, "Don’t be afraid. I’ll guard this place. I won’t let anything happen to you."
Qiao Suluo nodded. She was still worried about her father and brothers, but right now, her mother and Hao Hao were still in the adjacent cave.
Qiao Feishuang emerged from the cave wielding an axe. She swung it with fierce, tiger-like vigor, quickly chopping down a bandit beast. Seeing her mother’s actions, Qiao Suluo was stunned. She never imagined her mother possessed such formidable martial skills.
Recovering from her shock, Qiao Suluo looked at her mother and asked, "Mom, Dad and my brothers will be okay, right?"
"Don’t worry. They all have some skills. With your father there, they’ll be fine." When mentioning Qiu Bin, Qiao Feishuang wore a confident and calm expression, fully believing her husband would be safe.
Qiao Feishuang fought for a while before noticing what was happening behind Bai Qianluo. Startled but with brightening eyes, she went into the cave, handed Hao Hao to Qiao Suluo, and said, "I’m leaving Hao Hao in your care. I’m going to help the others." As the tribe leader, it was her responsibility to protect everyone.
"Mom!" Qiao Suluo called out anxiously. Her mother didn’t look back, instead steadfastly joining the counterattack against the bandit beasts.
Watching her mother’s heroic and valiant figure, Qiao Suluo felt a mix of shock and deep admiration. She wondered if she could help her mother awaken a superpower later.
However, awakening the superpowers for Bai Qianluo and Chu Moyuan had drained all her strength. She wouldn’t be able to help anyone else awaken their abilities for the next few days. She needed to rest and recover her energy first. Moreover, her master had said that even if some people possessed superpower talent, they wouldn’t be able to awaken it if their physical constitution was too weak.
A moment later, a fierce gale surged within the cave, nearly blowing Qiao Suluo away.
Turning her head, she saw that Chu Moyuan had woken up. His body seemed to be enveloped by a swirling gust of wind. Setting Hao Hao down, she quickly rushed to the bedside. "You’re awake! Did you awaken the Wind Ability?"
Chu Moyuan sat on the edge of the bed, his hands still trembling slightly from the sheer shock of it. "Yes, it’s the Wind Ability." He stared deeply at Qiao Suluo, a complex expression surging in his cold, profound eyes.
Originally, he would rather have become a cripple than be her Beast Husband, but it wasn’t up to him to decide. He had been mercilessly abandoned by his family. He was used as a bargaining chip and married off to Qiao Suluo, this notorious, ugly, and fat female, as a substitute. During that period, she constantly beat, scolded, and humiliated him in every possible way, and he endured it all. She had even sold him to the Underground Beast Fighting Arena. After surviving countless near-death experiences, the first thing he wanted to do was kill her.
Yet he never expected that she would go into the Ancient Secret Forest to find him.
Many things had happened since then, and his mindset had long since changed. Even less did he expect an even greater surprise to follow. The greatest fortunate encounter he had ever received was given to him by her. It revived his despairing heart and allowed him to feel hope once more.
Chu Moyuan looked at Qiao Suluo, a rippling light flashing through his ink-black eyes. Deep within his gaze, faintly scorching sparks seemed to ignite. His Adam’s apple bobbed slightly as he said, "Thank you. In the future, whatever my wife needs me to do, I will neither decline nor refuse.
"No matter what it is, absolutely anything goes."
This was his attitude and his promise. He didn’t make promises lightly, but once he did, he would carry them out.
Qiao Suluo couldn’t help but feel that Chu Moyuan’s aura right now was completely different from before. It was as if a glacier had melted; his aloof and arrogant disposition had completely softened.
"That’s wonderful! Then, can you help me protect my parents and brothers? And if possible, please help save the villagers too."
Chu Moyuan froze slightly before a wicked curve tugged at the corners of his lips. "Is this really what you want me to do, my wife?"
"Yeah."
What else could it be? What else could she possibly ask him to do right now? Wasn’t saving people the obvious choice? Looking at Chu Moyuan’s expression, Qiao Suluo felt a little confused.
Chu Moyuan chuckled softly. As he looked down at her, a dark vortex swirled in his eyes. "Whatever my wife tells me to do, I must do," he murmured. His hoarse, deep voice echoed by her ear, making Qiao Suluo’s ear twitch with a slight itch.
Saying this, Chu Moyuan quickly threw on his coat, grabbed his sword, and leaped down from the cave. "You have to protect yourself!" Qiao Suluo called out. "Don’t get hurt. Your own safety is the most important thing!"
Judging by Chu Moyuan’s stance, she had a nagging feeling that he was going to risk his life.
Chu Moyuan already possessed immense combat strength. Upon joining the fray, he slaughtered every bandit beast in sight. His movements were clean and decisive, as if he were venting some pent-up emotion.
Meanwhile, Bai Qianluo remained at the cave to protect the nearby elderly, weak, women, and children—primarily to protect Qiao Suluo and Hao Hao. Of course, he also periodically utilized his Water Ability to snipe distant bandit beasts, doing his best to keep everyone safe.
Qiao Suluo shielded Hao Hao tightly behind her back. Because she had exhausted her energy helping them awaken their superpowers, she didn’t recklessly leave the cave to show off.
Very soon, the more than twenty ferocious bandit beasts were completely wiped out.
Chu Moyuan simply used his Wind Ability to sweep their corpses deep into the mountains to feed the wild animals, saving everyone the trouble of disposing of the bodies.
Many Beastmen in the tribe had sustained injuries, but fortunately, no lives were lost. Everyone was deeply grateful to the leader’s family. They knew that if it weren’t for them, many of the Beastmen would have perished. Especially Qiao Suluo’s two Beast Husbands—their combat power was simply too terrifying.
Now, the villagers all hoped that Qiao Suluo would continue living in their settlement. They felt a sense of security only when she and her Beast Husbands were around.
Qiao Suluo also came out to help treat everyone’s wounds, earning their immense gratitude and respect. Only after everything was cleaned up did everyone begin to eat their roasted meat, relishing the joy of surviving the disaster.
After handing Hao Hao over to her parents and eldest brother, Qiao Suluo returned to the cave with Bai Qianluo and Chu Moyuan.
Bai Qianluo was uninjured, but Chu Moyuan had gotten hurt.
Staring at the massive gash on Chu Moyuan’s arm, Qiao Suluo felt a pang of self-blame. "Be more careful next time," she said softly. "Your own safety is the most important."
Chu Moyuan looked down at the expression in Qiao Suluo’s eyes. His gaze shifted slightly as he replied, "I’m used to it."
Hearing those words, Qiao Suluo’s heart trembled. Her thoughts immediately flashed back to his past experiences. Thinking of the countless life-and-death struggles he had endured in the Beast Fighting Arena, she was overwhelmed with guilt. "I’m sorry for the past," she murmured. "I will make it up to you in the future."
Suddenly, Chu Moyuan leaned in close. With a dark, mesmerizing glint in his eyes, he whispered, "Make it up to me? Does that mean my wife will give me whatever I want from now on?"
