Chapter 118: Chapter 118: Wrapped Around the Finger

Chu Moyuan had gotten injured just to protect her.

Even so, he continued to shield her tightly. With a pale face, he ordered in a deep voice, "Don’t move."

As he spoke, his Wind Ability was already at work. He hurled transparent Wind Blades behind him, aiming straight for the assassins’ lives. The Wind Blades let out a sharp howl, as if tearing through the air itself, and directly knocked the Erosion Spirit Whip away. Suddenly, the assassin on the left lunged forward, aiming a deadly strike at Chu Moyuan’s heart. Qiao Suluo watched from the sidelines in terror, but she didn’t dare to move recklessly, afraid of distracting him.

Fortunately, she had taken Gu Songlan’s medicinal herbs from her space. She silently absorbed the herbs to enhance her Healing Ability, preparing to treat Chu Moyuan’s injuries in a moment.

Chu Moyuan’s wrists flicked rapidly as his Wind Ability continuously entangled and struck down the assassins. When Chu Moyuan struck down another killer, the remaining two assassins’ expressions changed as they realized the situation was turning against them.

"Retreat!"

They tried to pull back, but Chu Moyuan took a step forward. A sudden whirlwind directly blocked their path of retreat.

"Did you ask for my permission before trying to escape?"

Although Chu Moyuan had suffered internal injuries, he knew he couldn’t let them leave. Otherwise, the next assassination attempt wouldn’t be this simple. His black clothes fluttered fiercely in the wind, displaying his domineering aura to the fullest.

Using the wind’s momentum, he spun and leaped into the air. The hem of his robes drew a sharp arc around him, and his sleeves billowed even without a natural breeze. Like a bolt of lightning, he struck out at the two retreating assassins. Their fighting silhouettes moved so fast that Qiao Suluo couldn’t even see them clearly.

In the end, Chu Moyuan finished off the two assassins. He had sustained severe internal injuries himself, but he merely wiped the corner of his mouth lightly, not wanting Qiao Suluo to notice.

When he stepped in front of Qiao Suluo, he withdrew all his hostile aura. Reaching out, he gently touched her pale face and looked at her with concern. "Are you alright?"

Qiao Suluo’s eyelashes trembled, and a layer of mist welled up in her eyes. She shook her head. "I’m fine. You’re the one who got hurt. Let me heal your injuries first."

Saying that, she hurriedly channeled her Healing Ability into Chu Moyuan’s body, helping him repair both his internal and external wounds.

Chu Moyuan just watched her quietly, feeling the warm aura emanating from her. However, as he looked down at her, he noticed the unshed tears in her eyes. He reached out a hand, his fingers gently wiping away the moisture at the corners of her eyes.

"I’m sorry. Did I scare you?"

In truth, shifting into his true form would have given him far greater combat power. However, Chu Moyuan always remembered that she was afraid of snakes, so he refrained from transforming for the fight.

Qiao Suluo shook her head. "No, you’re injured. It must hurt a lot, right?"

She didn’t know what kind of Magic Artifact that whip was, but it had inflicted a grievous wound on Chu Moyuan’s arm. Seeing him bleed so much made her heart ache terribly. Yet he seemed to feel nothing, not even furrowing his brow once.

"It’s just a minor injury. Don’t worry about it," he said.

He paused, suddenly realizing something in hindsight. He lowered his head to look at Qiao Suluo, a rippling light shimmering in his deep, ink-black eyes. "So my wife is worrying about me?"

From childhood to adulthood, the number of injuries he had sustained was countless, but no one had ever asked him if it hurt.

While using her Healing Ability to treat him, Qiao Suluo replied, "Of course. Of course I’m worried about you. It’s my fault for dragging you down and getting you hurt."

Hearing her words, Chu Moyuan felt as if his icy heart was melting into a pool of spring water. A surge of warmth seemed to flow through his limbs and bones, dispelling the coldness and darkness deep within him.

"Silly girl. How can you blame yourself? They were coming for me."

Qiao Suluo’s expression grew solemn. "They were coming for you? Who exactly wants to kill you? You’re already in this state, and there are still people who won’t let you off?"

She couldn’t even imagine what Chu Moyuan had gone through. With just one look, she could tell those killers weren’t ordinary assassins.

Chu Moyuan’s gaze turned dark and profound, but he didn’t say much. He had faced too many assassinations growing up; speaking of some things would only bring Qiao Suluo trouble.

Offering her a reassuring smile, he said, "I probably offended quite a few Beastmen back when I was in the Capital City. Don’t overthink it."

His voice involuntarily softened, becoming gentle as he lowered his head to tenderly kiss away the unshed tears at the corners of her eyes.

"Don’t worry either. I’m fine. I’m not that easy to kill."

Otherwise, he wouldn’t still be alive and well right now. However, as long as he wasn’t dead, certain factions would undoubtedly make a comeback. He would have to be extremely careful in the future. In the past, he hadn’t cared about life or death, but now that he had someone he cared about, his state of mind was naturally different.

Suddenly being treated with such tenderness by Chu Moyuan left Qiao Suluo feeling a bit unaccustomed. He was usually domineering and forceful. But she had to admit, this side of him was actually quite charming. Her eyelashes fluttered uncontrollably. To Chu Moyuan, it felt like tiny brushes sweeping past his lips, sending a numb, sweet sensation straight to the tip of his heart.

Qiao Suluo nodded. "Okay. Let’s go home and eat first."

Later, when Qiao Suluo and Chu Moyuan finally returned home, Que Hongjin and Bai Qianluo immediately noticed that something was off with her. Upon learning about the assassination attempt, the two men looked at her in a panic. They inspected her carefully, only breathing a sigh of relief when they confirmed she was unhurt.

Seeing how tense the two of them were, Qiao Suluo could only try to distract them. "Let’s eat first. The dumplings will get cold if we don’t."

Only then did everyone sit down to have their meal.

Qiao Suluo took a bite of a dumpling and nodded inwardly. Dumplings were definitely delicious.

"Why aren’t you guys eating? Let’s eat together."

The three men initially had little appetite, their minds still lingering on the assassination. However, seeing Qiao Suluo’s cheerful and sunny demeanor put them at ease. As long as she was fine, that was all that mattered.

"Alright," they replied, finally picking up their chopsticks to eat.

Qiao Suluo ate bite after bite like a little hamster, looking at them with expectant eyes. "Well? How does it taste?"

Que Hongjin and the others all agreed that it was delicious. Seeing that they liked it brought her immense joy. Chu Moyuan watched her regain her vitality and secretly let out a breath of relief.

After dinner, Qiao Suluo returned to her room to wash up.

While freshening up, she communicated with the Space Mall. She used the medicinal herbs she had obtained from Gu Songlan to exchange for a massive amount of points, directly buying enough Weight Loss Pills to shed thirty-four catties.

"Host, do you really want to lose all that weight at once?" the system asked.

"Yes, I want to lose it all right now. Being too fat will only cause trouble for everyone. Besides, moving around is really inconvenient when I’m this heavy."

She wasn’t worried about explaining this to Que Hongjin and the others. She had already told them before that she could use her Healing Ability to make her body slimmer, and they hadn’t probed any further. In truth, Qiao Suluo could feel their protectiveness over her. They likely knew she had secrets, but as long as she didn’t offer the information herself, they never pressed her for answers. This made her feel incredibly comfortable around them.

With that, she directly swallowed the Weight Loss Pills.

Soon, her weight dropped down to a perfect hundred catties. Moreover, her figure slimmed down where it should be slim and remained plump where it ought to be plump. Her body felt exceptionally light and spry, putting her in a wonderful mood.

When she finished bathing and stood up to step out of the tub, her foot hit the floor. A puddle of water made the floor slippery, and combining that with the fact that she had forgotten her sudden change in body weight, she lost her footing. She slipped, nearly crashing to the ground.

In that split second, she felt herself fall into a strong, firm embrace. A familiar, alluring scent filled her nostrils.

Then, Qiao Suluo looked up and saw Chu Moyuan. Her brain completely short-circuited for a moment. "Why... why are you here?"
