Five Broken Beast Husbands, One Wicked Female with a Pocket Dimension
Chapter 113: Can Warm the Bed
Chapter 113: Chapter 113: Can Warm the Bed
Dongqing’s cheeks were bulging as he munched on the savory crepe. "Yue Hanzheng, you’re so nice for giving me such delicious food.
"It’s so good! I don’t know what kind of flavoring was added, but it’s incredibly tasty."
His eyes curved into happy little crescents.
Initially, Yue Hanzheng hadn’t cared much, thinking it was no big deal to just throw the food away. However, seeing Dongqing devour it with such immense relish right in front of him changed things. Yue Hanzheng hadn’t eaten much for breakfast, and now that it was noon, he was genuinely hungry. His appetite was thoroughly piqued.
"Is it really that good?"
Dongqing nodded continuously. "Of course it is!
"That’s why it’s such a shameful pity for you to waste food."
Smelling the savory aroma of the crepe, Yue Hanzheng found himself secretly wanting a bite. He immediately felt that this line of thought was wrong and said, "Qiao Suluo probably drugged it."
Dongqing shot him a weird look. "Wouldn’t I be able to smell it if it were drugged?"
He was the Young Valley Master’s trusted attendant, after all. While his Medical Skill wasn’t as formidable as his master’s, he had followed him for years and possessed a sharp nose. He could easily tell whether something had been tampered with.
Afraid that Yue Hanzheng might go back on his word, Dongqing quickly wolfed down the rest of the savory crepe. Only then did he continue, "It is strange, though. Why are you so deeply prejudiced against your wife?"
"It’s not prejudice. She’s drugged us before," Yue Hanzheng replied coldly.
Dongqing scratched the back of his head, thinking it over. "But Miss Qiao doesn’t look like that kind of person. Could there be some sort of misunderstanding?"
"Don’t be fooled by her superficial disguise," Yue Hanzheng said stiffly.
His impression of Qiao Suluo was completely stuck in the past. Even though she had indeed seemed different the last two times he saw her, he still refused to believe her.
"I don’t think so," Dongqing retorted. "Any female who can make such delicious food must be a good female."
Eating that mouthwatering savory crepe had instantly changed Dongqing’s opinion of Qiao Suluo. He genuinely believed she was a wonderful female; it was rare enough for a female to be willing to cook for males with her own hands. Moreover, he was just a lowly attendant, yet Miss Qiao had still prepared a portion for him. That proved she had a very kind and approachable nature.
Besides, he had been with the Young Valley Master long enough to understand him. Their master probably had a good impression of Miss Qiao, too. Without wasting any more breath on Yue Hanzheng, Dongqing went off to find Gu Songlan.
At the moment, Gu Songlan was still sorting through medicinal herbs.
"Young Valley Master, you should eat while it’s hot. It’ll get cold if you wait," Dongqing urged.
"I just had mine, and it was delicious.
"Please eat first; I’ll take over sorting the herbs."
He handed the savory crepe on the table to Gu Songlan. Only then did Gu Songlan go wash his hands and take the food. While Dongqing moved aside to tidy up the herbs, Gu Songlan took a delicate bite. He paused, mildly stunned by the incredible flavor.
"Young Valley Master, I’ve never had anything so delicious in my life," Dongqing chattered. "Miss Qiao’s culinary skills are amazing."
"Mhm," Gu Songlan replied softly.
Although he only gave a single-syllable response, Dongqing was thrilled. It meant the Young Valley Master agreed with him!
"I wonder if we’ll ever get to eat Miss Qiao’s cooking again.
"That Yue Hanzheng actually told me to throw it away. What a reckless waste of God’s gifts!
"But hey, if he won’t eat it, I will."
Because of that, he had eaten two full portions. He was completely stuffed, and his stomach felt wonderfully warm and satisfied.
Gu Songlan’s expression shifted slightly, but he didn’t comment further on the matter. "I’m going out to gather herbs this afternoon."
He wanted to formulate the Powder for Anesthesia as soon as possible so he could test its effects.
Back at the house, Que Hongjin and the others had already scrubbed and cleaned the new residence from top to bottom. The place was spotless, and all the newly purchased daily necessities were neatly arranged. The fresh quilts and mattresses were airing out in the courtyard, waiting to be brought back inside later that afternoon.
Seeing Qiao Suluo return, Que Hongjin breathed a sigh of relief and smiled warmly. "You’re back?"
Qiao Suluo nodded. "I made savory crepes for lunch."
Que Hongjin looked at her with a smile. "Bai Qianluo and the others cooked lunch in the kitchen.
"Leave the cooking to us from now on; you don’t need to work so hard."
He couldn’t bear the thought of her tiring herself out.
Qiao Suluo shook her head. "I’m not tired. Making food for you guys isn’t exhausting at all."
Handing a savory crepe to Que Hongjin, she wandered into the backyard to take a look before running back excitedly, arms open to hug him. "This will be our home from now on!"
Que Hongjin carefully held her at arm’s length. "Don’t hug me just yet. I’m covered in dust. Let me go wash up and change clothes first."
He was quite a neat freak. Having just finished deep-cleaning the house, he was worried about getting dust on her clothes.
"It’s fine, you’re not dusty at all!" she said, throwing her arms around him anyway.
Que Hongjin looked down at her with helpless indulgence. Only when he was holding her like this did his heart truly feel full.
Meanwhile, Chu Moyuan and Bai Qianluo were busy in the kitchen. Hearing the commotion, Chu Moyuan glanced out into the courtyard, his eyes turning dark and unreadable. "Our wife seems to be especially fond of Que Hongjin."
Bai Qianluo’s expression grew even colder. "He is our wife’s first Beast Husband. He is indeed different."
Yet, as he said those words, Bai Qianluo didn’t mean them at all. After he fell into the water back then, he had clearly noticed the changes in their wife, but his inability to express himself had caused him to fall a step behind.
Bai Qianluo looked over at Chu Moyuan. "Our wife is quite dense when it comes to romance. If you keep holding back and refuse to express yourself, you might find yourself falling a few steps behind as well."
Hearing this, Chu Moyuan’s already dark eyes grew so gloomy they looked ready to drip ink.
During lunch, the four of them sat around the table. Qiao Suluo’s eyes curved in a bright, captivating smile.
"Here are the savory crepes I made. One for each of you."
It paired perfectly with the soup Bai Qianluo and Chu Moyuan had cooked. Tasting the savory crepe, Chu Moyuan finally realized just how incredibly delicious it was.
"When I went out today, I ran into Tushan Feishang, and I struck a deal with the South Wind Tower Master..."
Qiao Suluo briefly explained her plan. By helping the Nanfeng Building double its profits, she would be able to bring Tushan Feishang back. Furthermore, she would spend two hours every afternoon going to the Nanfeng Building to teach them opera. That meant she wouldn’t be going out this afternoon; she needed to stay home and write the opera scripts.
"Did you see Tushan Feishang, wife?" Bai Qianluo asked in his clear, gentle voice.
"Did he agree to come back with you?"
Qiao Suluo nodded. "Yes. Once the South Wind Tower Master grants him his freedom, he’ll return.
"It’s a good thing we rented this house. We wouldn’t have been able to fit everyone if we still lived in the cave.
"This way, we also saved enough Silver so that you can enroll in the academy earlier, Hong Jin."
Que Hongjin actually wished he could delay it. He would much rather stay home with her every day.
Chu Moyuan recalled what Bai Qianluo had said while they were cooking. Their wife didn’t just have the three of them as Beast Husbands; there were two more. If he waited too long, he would fall even further behind. At that thought, Chu Moyuan’s gaze grew increasingly profound.
Later that afternoon, after the sun had sufficiently aired out the quilts, Chu Moyuan personally carried the bedding into Qiao Suluo’s room to make the bed for her.
Qiao Suluo, who was busy writing her opera scripts, turned around to see Chu Moyuan silently making her bed. She could hardly believe that a man like him would do such a thing for her.
"Chu Moyuan, are you... are you making the bed for me?"
Chu Moyuan looked down at her, swirling emotions pooling in his dark eyes. "Yes. Do you like it, wife? If you do, I can also warm your bed for you tonight."
