Chapter 2587 – Pointing His Sword at a Turbulent World, Disaster Reaches the Western Paradise

Inside a grand hall.

A sealed bronze box was delivered to Su Yi, but Su Yi didn’t rush to open it. Instead, he asked, “Who sent this to me?”

“Your Excellency, it was delivered by a local errand boy. This old man investigated his background and discovered no problems,” said the middle-aged man delivering the report. He responded to Su Yi’s questions with the utmost respect.

“Strange. Who could possibly have been so capable as to discover that His Excellency Su was currently visiting this particular branch of the Qilin Trading Company?” The old man running the branch frowned. He could tell that something was fishy here.

“It really is strange,” whispered Su Yi. He’d been in disguise throughout his recent travels in the God Domain to avoid unnecessary trouble.

Even when he interacted with Bai Yulou and the others from Fortuitous Sword Mountain outside the Ancient Forest Sword Sect, none of them realized who he was.

Yet now, someone somehow figured out that he’d come to the local Qilin Trading Company, and they’d even delivered a bronze box. It seemed as if someone had long since set their sights on him.

“I won’t lie to you, Your Excellency Su. We can tell that something fishy is going on here, so we searched that errand boy’s soul in an attempt to uncover the full story,” said the middle-aged messenger. “Strangely, the errand boy didn’t have any useful leads whatsoever. We suspect… that someone was using a secret technique to control his soul.”

Su Yi inclined his head. It seems that whoever really sent the bronze box doesn’t want me to learn their identity.

Su Yi pondered briefly, then undid the seal and opened the bronze box. Its contents left him stunned.

The only thing in the box was a robe stained with fresh blood!

The red was striking to the eyes, and the dense stench of blood mixed with an air of destruction, shaking the heart and soul.

“This…” The old man exclaimed, “That looks like Divine Corpse Blood Robe’s Bloodthirsty War Robe!”

“That’s because it is,” said Su Yi. His expression was calm, but his heart was heavy.

He’d met Divine Corpse Blood Robe during his time as Li Fuyou. Starting with the battle at Skybright Mountain, Divine Corpse Blood Robe had come to his aid on numerous occasions, helping him slay his enemies.

Divine Corpse Blood Robe’s only desire was that Su Yi would, upon mastering the full Laws of Reincarnation, free him from his shackles and help him achieve rebirth.

Su Yi had agreed to help him, too. Yet now, Divine Corpse Blood Robe’s characteristic robes had appeared in a sealed bronze box!

Others might not have known the robes’ secrets, but how could Su Yi not know? Divine Corpse Blood Robe’s Dao and very life itself were inextricably tied to his robes!

But now, the robes showed no sign of life force, and their spirituality was in tatters. That unquestionably implied that Divine Corpse Blood Robe had met with disaster!

Su Yi gazed intently at the robes for a few minutes before taking them out of the box. The blood-red robes were a striking, unsettling sight, but they no longer contained even the barest hint of life force.

There was a note at the bottom of the paper. It read, “Su Yi, you and I are similar in that we both disdain resorting to threats. I’ve killed Divine Corpse Blood Robe to repay you for what you’ve done. Please consider this my first gift to you and accept it with a smile.”

The handwriting was rough and casual, but there was nothing distinctive about it. It looked like it was written without a care.

But its contents made Su Yi frown. The depths of his gaze glinted with cold, irrepressible murderous intent.

When he picked up the note, he saw another line of text on the back.

“Next time, I’ll kill that Mu Bai kid. Consider his head my second gift to you. Right, I’ll send my next gift to the Qilin Trading Company, too. Don’t forget to pick it up.”

Su Yi’s expression never wavered. He remained as outwardly calm as ever.

However, the atmosphere silently grew stifled and oppressive. Both the elderly manager and the middle-aged messenger stiffened, their hearts quivering and their expressions shifting.

Amidst this deathly silence, a bundle of flame lit at Su Yi’s fingertips. The note silently burned to ash.

Next, he folded the bloody robe up and solemnly placed it back in the bronze box.

“Blood Robe, once I’ve killed the one who did this to you, I’ll burn both this box and your robes to comfort your departed spirit,” said Su Yi, gently running his hand along the box. “I can tell that this time, I’m up against a mad dog. He’s out for revenge against me, but I’ll make him understand what it means to live a life worse than death!”

Several figures floated into Su Yi’s sea of consciousness. All were his enemies: Di E, the Dipankara Buddha, Gu Huaxian, the Angler, Lu Shi, and the handsome young owner of the Book of Legends.

But in the end, he couldn’t be certain who was behind this; this didn’t seem like how any of his pre-existing enemies did things.

“You two, please step out for a moment.” Su Yi glanced at the old man and the messenger.

Both considerately stepped away. They saw only unrippling calm in Su Yi’s expression and mannerisms, but they could nonetheless feel his fury!

Soon, both of them had vanished from the room. Su Yi now sat there alone.

Just who did this? Who’d choose to seek revenge against me at a time like this? And why would they do this?

Questions flooded Su Yi’s mind, and he sank into thought.

Now that the Dark Days of Legend had begun, both he and the factions hostile to him had tacitly agreed not to cast aside all pretenses of cordiality.

Su Yi had his reasons; he was preparing for the Battle for Order. His enemies had their plans and arrangements, too.

It wasn’t that they didn’t want to kill each other, but that if fighting broke out now, it would only benefit those watching from the sidelines.

That aside, Su Yi was concerned for those around him.

His enemies had similar reservations.

Thus, Su Yi hadn’t attacked the Western Paradise Spirit Mountains, and his enemies hadn’t made any moves on Sunset Perch Island.

Everything was, by unspoken agreement, in a state of balance.

Both sides knew that this balance would break eventually, but it absolutely wasn’t the time yet!

Yet now, someone was actively seeking revenge against him. This gave Su Yi a powerful premonition that the culprit was not one of his old enemies, but rather, someone else entirely.

Or perhaps an unfamiliar faction!

Could it be someone from a spacetime forbidden zone? Su Yi sat there alone in silence for a long time.

In the end, he reached a decision.

He immediately sent word to everyone on Sunset Perch Island, as well as his friends exploring the outside world, warning them to be on guard.

Then, Su Yi called the elderly manager of this Qilin Trading Company branch back over and said, “Make an announcement in my name. Tell the Western Paradise Spirit Mountains to give up the culprit who murdered Divine Corpse Blood Robe, or else, I’ll attack within a week’s time!”

He paused, then repeated, “Remember: I want everyone to know about this.”

The old man exclaimed, “The culprit was from the Western Paradise Spirit Mountains?”

Su Yi shook his head slightly. “Almost certainly not.”

The old man was baffled. “Then why…?”

“Someone wants to duke it out with me. I naturally can’t let my enemies just sit back and watch. I have to drag them underwater too,” Su Yi said calmly. “It’s fine even if this throws the God Domain into upheaval!”

The killer was hiding in the shadows. Finding them would be like trying to fish a needle out of the ocean. In that case, better to muddy the waters completely. Stir everything up, and he might well force his enemy out into the open!

That aside, Su Yi wanted to find out if his enemies had participated in Divine Corpse Blood Robe’s murder.

“So that’s it,” said the old man. He finally understood Su Yi’s plans, and the look in his eyes shifted.

Before Su Yi went into seclusion on Sunset Perch Island, he explored the world, sword in hand, cutting down countless powerful foes and flattening untold numbers of factions both big and small.

As mighty as the Western Paradise Spirit Mountains were, for a while, they’d been forced to go into hiding not long ago.

It was also then that Su Yi fully established his reputation, shining as brilliantly as the sun illuminating the nine heavens and the ten earths. No one else could compare!

But then, Su Yi went into seclusion on Sunset Perch Island, and there’d been no further word from him.

Now, the Dark Days of Legend had begun, and the world was in chaos. Elites vied for supremacy, and the God Domain’s balance of power had undergone too many changes to count.

But Su Yi had remained a bystander in all of this, not leaving seclusion or participating.

By now, the God Domain’s perception of Su Yi was largely stuck in the past, dating back to before he went into seclusion on Sunset Perch Island.

It was only recently, when Su Yi fought that battle in the Heaven-Combating Hidden Realm, that he re-entered the public eye.

But that was the extent of it.

After leaving the Heaven-Combating Hidden Realm, Su Yi hadn’t participated in worldly affairs any further. There was practically no news of him.

But now, after Su Yi announced his decision, the old manager realized something. Sword Venerate Su was about to stir up the wind and clouds once more!

How many heads would roll this time? And would the balance of power be thrown into complete disarray?

How many factions would be consigned to the dust, unable to bear Sword Venerate Su’s wrath?

Waves of emotion coursed through the old man’s heart at the thought of it.

That very day, the Qilin Trading Company made an announcement to the whole world.

“Sword Venerate Su has decreed that the Western Paradise Spirit Mountains have seven days to give up the person who killed Divine Corpse Blood Robe. If they refuse, he’ll attack!

The God Domain had already been plunged into chaos and upheaval, but when this announcement spread, it was as if an explosion went off, shaking the entire God Domain.

Everyone was up in arms!

Lots of people were excited, their hearts coursing with emotion. “Sword Venerate Su is finally entering the fray! I just knew someone of his strength and prestige wouldn’t remain a bystander forever!”

Su Yi hadn’t yet participated much in the Dark Days of Legend, but everyone knew there was no way he’d stay out of things forever!

Thus, of late, countless people were waiting eagerly to see when Su Yi would join the battle and point his sword at the world.

Now, as word spread of his announcement, everyone realized something.

Sword Venerate Su had finally drawn his weapon!
