Chapter 2533 - The Mysteries of the Fragments of Heaven’s Will
Chapter 2533 – The Mysteries of the Fragments of Heaven’s Will
A month later, the dark clouds finally receded from the dome of heaven.
Fragments of Heaven’s Will had poured down like waters bursting through a dam. Now, they lay strewn across the God Domain.
The firmament was no longer in upheaval, but there were now numerous startling spacetime rifts all over the sky, hovering there like wounds.
From time to time, lights reminiscent of shooting stars flashed past, then fell down to earth, gone in the blink of an eye.
These were the last remaining Fragments of Heaven’s Will, but they were already few in number.
The dark clouds had already dispersed, but the whole world was nonetheless overcast, with no stars, sun, or moon.
When night fell, the entire God Domain plunged into seemingly eternal darkness. It was extraordinarily unsettling.
A month later, the cataclysm that swept across the world faded away, but heaven and earth had transformed. There were ruins all over the place. Many mountains and rivers were now barren.
No one knew just how many living beings had perished over the course of just one short month.
However, the world’s cultivators were surprised to discover that just as everything seemed to reach its low ebb, life force and the aura of the Grand Dao suddenly surged throughout heaven and earth!
“The spiritual energy is recovering after hitting its lowest ebb?” Many people reached this conclusion.
“No! That’s the power of the Grand Dao emanating from the scattered Fragments of Heaven’s Will. At most… it’s just a reflection,” sighed some of the older-generation cultivators. “Once all the fragments have been seized and refined, the surging vitality and aura of the Grand Dao will wither once and for all!”
The Fragments of Heaven’s Will were like a downpour, but there wouldn’t be another like it. When the “rain” dried up, the earth would dry up with it!
When the last Fragments of Heaven’s Will was gathered, the God Domain would have no new source of vitality. The Grand Dao would no longer exist here!
That was the most terrifying part of this.
But for now, few were concerned about that.
When the natural disasters died down, the “sharp swords hovering over everyone’s heads” vanished.
Throughout the God Domain, the winds were rising and the clouds were gathering!
Those powerful factions that had lain dormant for years now ventured into the world, sending the full extent of their forces into the world to gather the scattered Fragments of Heaven’s Will.
The Western Paradise Spirit Mountains, Qingwu Divine Court, and other top factions re-entered the world, causing a storm.
Those factions of other spacetimes entered the God Domain through the scattered spacetime forbidden zones, causing a worldwide uproar.
Throughout the God Domain, powerful factions emerged like bamboo shoots shooting up after a spring rain. All of them worked like mad to gather Fragments of Heaven’s Will.
Where there were people, there was conflict
Especially now, when everyone was vying for Fragments of Heaven’s Well. In just a few short days, bloody battles broke out all over the God Domain, creating a storm of bloodshed. The skies were bright with beacon fires!
The world’s elites were vying for supremacy!
Chaos and bloodshed had already become the dominant flavor of the Dark Days of Legend!
The natural disasters were over, but manmade disasters had taken their place, sweeping across the world like a storm.
These manmade disasters were even more terrifying than the natural kind, and the resulting bloodshed was even worse.
If someone were to describe the God Domain in a single sentence, they’d say, “Everything beneath the heavens was in chaos!”
These were true turbulent times. The natural order had collapsed, and the former peace was no more.
Human life was worth no more than straw.
Everyone, no matter who they are, was destined to get swept up into the bloodshed and upheaval.
……
The Endless Ocean was in chaos, too.
Groups of experts were all over the place, scouring the water for fallen Fragments of Heaven’s Will. There were bloody conflicts all over the place too.
“Quick! There’s a tide of life force over there, and the spiritual energy is practically boiling. There’s got to be a Fragment of Heaven’s Will hidden there!” a gray-robed man called out excitedly and beckoned to his allies.
A group gathered around him and looked over.
Indeed, there really was radiant green life force rising from a distant stretch of ocean, and the spiritual energy of the Grand Dao seemed to boil. It spread like a current, and it was extraordinarily eye-catching.
“Hurry!” The gray-robed man couldn’t stand it anymore. He was about to rush over when one of his allies pulled him back.
“Don’t go there!”
“Why not?”
“That fragment is in Sunset Perch Island’s territory!”
The man in gray looked stricken. “No way! We’re tens of thousands of miles from Sunset Perch Island. How could this be part of its territory?”
“All waters within ninety thousand miles of Sunset Perch Island are considered its territory. Everyone knows that!”
“That fragment fell into Sunset Perch Island’s territory, so it belongs to Sword Venerate Su!”
“Let’s go. As wonderful as good fortune is, you need to be alive to enjoy it.”
Everyone found it a pity, but none of them dared to act recklessly. All of them urged the man in gray to leave with them.
“That’s just too tyrannical!” The man in gray glowered. “This good fortune fell from the heavens, raining all over the world. It obviously doesn’t belong to anyone, so finders keepers! It naturally ought to belong to us!”
He obviously wasn’t willing to accept this.
“You can leave. I’ll go get it myself!” The man in gray gnashed his teeth and shot towards the ocean.
His companions exchanged glances. They hesitated, but none of them dared to follow him.
Fortune favored the bold, but you still had to take the risks into account! Who’d dare lay hands on treasure in Sword Venerate Su’s territory?
Before long, the man in gray found that Fragment of Heaven’s Will. It was a palm-sized gray meteorite. The meteorite was full of an indescribable aura of the Grand Dao. Holding it was like holding a miniature star!
“This… this good fortune is now mine!” the gray-robed man said excitedly. His eyes lit up, and his hands trembled with excitement.
Fragments of Heaven’s Will were good fortune enticing enough to drive even Master Gods mad with desire!
Even if he couldn’t use it himself, he could visit any top faction and exchange it for a vast sum of wealth. That way, he could soar into the heavens in a single bound!
Suddenly, a burst of laughter rang out. “You’re dreaming.”
The man in gray shook from head to toe and, before he could even react, that Fragment of Heaven’s Will vanished from his hands.
A man had appeared out of nowhere. He now held that very fragment.
The man’s back was perfectly straight, and he was dressed in purple. Even standing there casually, he looked like a ruler presiding over the Nine Heavens!
Wan Zitian!
The gray-robed man looked stricken. The blood drained from his face, and he stammered, “Senior… That good fortune is… is…”
“Whose is it?” laughed Wan Zitian.
The man in gray hesitated, then lowered his head bitterly. “It’s yours.”
“Men die for wealth, while birds die for food. Don’t covet things that don’t belong to you. You’re lucky you ran into me. If you’d run into another old monster of Sunset Perch Island… you’d be dead already.” Wan Zitian shook his head, then turned to leave. “Hurry up and go.”
The man in gray stood there in a daze for a while before letting out a pent-up breath of turbid air. He felt a massive weight lift from his shoulders.
He was no longer bitter. All he felt was relief.
Relief that he’d escaped this with his life!
His companions had witnessed this entire exchange. All of them had broken out in cold sweats, and they celebrated their friend’s fortune.
The whole group quickly retreated.
Meanwhile, on Sunset Perch Island, the peachblossoms were as radiant as ever. The leaves of the Dao Enlightened Tea Tree and the Osmanthus Tree of the Toad Palace swayed.
Su Yi sat in a wicker chair playing chess with Xi Ning. The River Child, Mu Bai, and Yi Chen had gathered around to watch.
The bloodshed and upheaval of the outside world hadn’t affected the tranquility of Sunset Perch Island in any way.
“Brother Fuyou, I found another Fragment of Heaven’s Will. Have a look.” Wan Zitian walked over and tried to offer the green meteorite to Su Yi.
Su Yi accepted it, but didn’t examine it. He was focused on his game of chess. “I’ll look at it after this game.”
Wan Zitian smiled, not at all concerned.
When the game was over, Xi Ning’s beautiful eyes flashed with a hint of frustration. “You won again.”
Su Yi took a sip of wine. “You wouldn’t like it if I threw the game, either, so I had no choice but to win with poise.”
A smile tugged at Xi Ning’s lips. “I’ll be interested to see who’s willing to play chess with you after all this.”
The world was in turmoil, but Sunset Perch Island was as tranquil as ever. Su Yi frequently took Xi Ning fishing, and they often drank tea or played chess together. From time to time, they’d feast on seafood and drink. Their days were carefree and joyful.
“I’m afraid… we’ll have few such days of peace and tranquility going forward,” Su Yi said casually.
It was just an offhand comment, but it reminded everyone of the state of the world.
Everyone knew that the world was in chaos, and that Sunset Perch Island couldn’t possibly stay out of it forever!
Su Yi raised and examined the green meteorite. “This Fragment of Heaven’s Will is a bit interesting.”
The old monsters on Sunset Perch Island had been busy gathering Fragments of Heaven’s Will from across the Endless Ocean.
This had given them a preliminary understanding of how the fragments worked.
Firstly, the Fragments of Heaven’s Will were manifestations of the Laws imbued with the most ancient source Laws of the Grand Dao.
If ordinary cultivators acquired them, they could use the fragments to glean insight into the truths of the Grand Dao, but they couldn’t refine them.
Only Master Gods could fuse the fragments into their cultivation bases. The more fragments they fused with, the closer their powers of the Grand Dao would become to Heaven’s Will!
Secondly, Fragments of Heaven’s Will weren’t identical, and they came in varying qualities. All of it depended on the nature of the Laws imbued in them.
When the Fragments of Heaven’s Will scattered, they took the forms of different objects, like grass, grains of sand, or jades.
Or, in this case, a green meteorite.
In terms of quality, Fragments of Heaven’s Will could be roughly divided into four levels. The world’s top factions had already named them: third class, second class, first class, and supreme.
Third class fragments were the most common, while supreme fragments were the rarest.
The green meteorite was considerably higher quality than the third class fragments. That made it second class.
As of yet, only one supreme fragment had appeared in the entire God Domain!
The supreme Fragment of Heaven’s Will was shaped like a lingzhi, a shelfmushroom. It was purple throughout and dazzlingly resplendent. It had appeared in the Ancient Nirvana Divine Continent, and countless top factions had fought over it like mad
But the Western Paradise Spirit Mountains seized it in the end.
The whole world had been in uproar over this of late, and everyone was paying attention.
It was because of this incident that the world’s cultivators knew that supreme Fragments of Heaven’s Will even existed!
