Chapter 1209: The Great Dookie Deflection
Chapter 1209: The Great Dookie Deflection
“I find it strange that sister gets a party just for having intercourse for the first time. Why was I not given this celebration?”
Lisa paused in the middle of chopping vegetables and stared at her son. “Bash, you didn’t even want us to tell anyone it happened. Would you have really wanted a party for it?”
Bashenga fell silent as he placed his chin in his hand.
“…I still find all of this strange.”
“So should I take that as I have one less portion to prepare?”
“…No.”
“I didn’t think so.” Lisa booped her son on the nose.
Snorting at the unsolicited affection, Bashenga turned to his sister who sat at the other end of the bar.
Her hands were folded over her nose as she stared into empty space.
She had the same look as someone who was waiting on the feds to kick their door in for tax evasion.
Bashenga appeared beside her and sniffed her.
“W-What are you doing, you little parasite?!”
“I assumed that you were wondering whether or not you had a sexually transmitted disease. I am here to inform you that you do not.”
“…Bash, we can’t contract diseases from humans to begin with.”
“I did not know if you were aware of that, with how distraught you seemed to be. Is it pregnancy you fear then?”
“God, no! I can’t just be a little quiet and think about things sometimes?”
Bashenga shrugged.
“Leave your sister alone, boy. She’s merely basking in the glow of a transformative experience.”
Valerie appeared suddenly and wrapped her arms around her daughter from behind.
“You really are all grown up now. But you’re still my baby, you hear?”
Courtney stiffened at her mother’s embrace. “S-Sure, mom. No need to make such a big deal out of it or anything…”
Valerie smiled knowingly at her daughter as she kissed the crown of her head.
’You don’t need to be so nervous. Your mother and I aren’t going to tell anyone your secret. We’re just happy you found someone you trusted enough to take that step with.’
Courtney relaxed for the first time in over twenty minutes.
’Thanks, Ma… I don’t mean to lie, I just-’
’It’s not anyone’s business but yours and Fiona’s. I wish you both the best from the bottom of my heart.’
’W-Well, there’s not really a ’both’ right now, we’re kinda just in an arrangement.’
Valerie was a deity of sex, not love. She understood that there was a mutual attraction between the two, but could not say whether or not it was anything deeper.
’Well… if it helps, you could have certainly done worse. Fiona’s soul is quite beautiful. Why, if I were younger and single then-’
’Ma!’
’I’m just saying she’s a catch. Enjoy your time with her.’
Valerie gave her daughter a final kiss on the cheek before leaving her with her thoughts.
It became harder for Courtney to ignore Fiona after that.
More often than not, she found herself stealing glances at her as she played cards with Thrudd and Behemoth.
Her soul really was a beautiful thing to behold. Courtney was drawn to it like a moth to a flame.
Just as she was about to stand up and go talk to her, Nihil approached her first, rubbing the back of his head like a beaten dog.
“Hey… you got a minute?”
Fiona looked up from the card game with an unreadable expression. “Umm…”
“You have some nerve coming over here to bother her after all the shit you just pulled!” Thrudd slammed her hand on the table, nearly splitting it.
*Sigh* “Stay out of this, red.”
“Make me, piss-baby.” Thrudd stood up.
Fiona got in between the two dragons before things could get too heated.
“Whoa there, let’s keep cool heads in the family, alright? I’ll be gone for two seconds, and then I’ll be back.”
Thrudd grumbled something under her breath and sat back in her seat.
Fiona didn’t seem to hear what she’d said, but Nihil did, and he seemed none too happy.
She led him away before her attempts to maintain the peace went down the train.
Once the two were around the corner and to themselves, Fiona leaned against the wall and pulled a blue cigarette flower out of her pocket.
“…You must’ve really had fun hanging out with my cousin. She’s liked those things for years.”
Fiona closed her eyes as she pulled a lighter out of her pocket and lit the sweet-smelling flower.
Immediately, she felt all of her muscles relax and any tension in the air seemed to dissipate.
“Yeah, well.. Courtney has some pretty good taste. She thought these things might help me feel a little bit less annoyed from work, so I took her up on her offer.”
Nihil looked down at his feet. “…I suppose that’s not the only thing you’re annoyed with right now, huh?”
Fiona exhaled a subtle blue smoke from her nose. “Don’t make this into some big drama it’s not. We’re both adults, and if something doesn’t work, it doesn’t work. Though you could’ve just told me you were only interested in sex before inviting me to dinner.”
“…And if I wasn’t only interested in that?”
“You’ve got a real funny way of showing it then. Maybe the next girl won’t mind your games as much as I did, so good luck to you.” Fiona tried to step past him, intending to be done with the conversation and all of the unpleasantness that came with it.
However, Nihil placed her hand on her waist before she could leave. That was all it took for a series of memories to come rushing back to her.
“…Take your hand off me, please.”
“I know you enjoyed our night together, and I was a real ass afterward, but if you give me permission, I want to make it up to you.”
Fiona clammed up as Nihil’s lips came ever closer to hers.
“…I can even make it up to you right now, if you want. Just say the word, and I’ll do whatever I have to so that-”
The duo heard the sound of something wet and heavy hit the floor.
They turned around and scrunched their faces in horror as Bayle sat beside a large, steaming shit.
“Eww..!”
“Bayle, what the fuck!?”
The komodo dragon wagged it’s tail innocently as it stared up at them.
Its beady red eyes seemed to be giving them an expectant look as if to say, ’Who’s gonna clean this up?’
Nihil gagged uncontrollably as he covered his mouth.
“You know aunts and uncles said you’re supposed to go outside.. and why the fuck would you go right here beside us, of all places!?”
Bayle continued to stare. His eyes seemed to scream, ’This won’t clean itself.’
Disgusted and disappointed that his moment was interrupted, Nihil turned to Fiona to apologize.
But much to his surprise, she was already gone. And to make matters even more perplexing, he hadn’t seen or felt her leave.
Turning back to Bayle, Nihil glared at him in frustration.
“Really, dude..? Really??”
Bayle would never feel guilty about his choice of dump location. No matter how much he was scolded or struck with a newspaper.
It would all be worth it when he was allowed to eat an entire pile of wagyu steaks that weighed even more than he did.
While Nihil resigned himself to cleaning up lizard crap, Courtney rushed up the stairs to her room with Fiona dragging behind her.
“Thanks for the save, but why aren’t we just going back to the kitchen?”
Courtney didn’t know. Her head was swimming with feelings of jealousy and anger.
It was her mom’s fault for getting into her head. Now, all she could think about was Fiona and the afternoon they had shared together.
And then, when she saw her turning the corner with Nihil, she knew she had to act.
But she hadn’t exactly planned anything past the shit heist. Now she didn’t know what she was supposed to do, or say for that matter.
The only thing she was aware of was an intense jealousy in her stomach, and a burning lust in her heart.
–
Across the house, Abaddon and Izanami had entered Gabbrielle’s room.
When they stepped inside, the last thing they expected was to find Seras already in here, sleeping beside their daughter.
They sat beside her bed and waited patiently for the two to wake up. Abaddon never took his eyes off his daughter for even a moment.
Izanami sat beside him quietly, running her thumbs along his knuckles.
Occasionally, she became aware of some kind of commotion taking place within the house, but she elected to push it out of her mind until later.
After over an hour, Gabbrielle’s eyes fluttered open, and she found her father staring at her.
Her eyes widening, they stared at each other for an uncomfortably long time as the tension in the room grew harder to ignore.
Swallowing his fear, Abaddon reached out and placed his hand on his daughter’s cheek. He was relieved when she did not immediately try to bite him or push his hand away.
“…Will you come with me?” He asked quietly.
Gabbrielle clenched her bed sheets tightly.
Abaddon, sensing an incoming refusal, started to pull his hand away.
But just as he did, Gabbrielle stood up in the bed and held her arms out for him to carry her.
