Fated To Three, And I Broke Them All

Chapter 385-Well, It Is A Full Moon’s Night

Verity:

I had decorated the entire mansion beautifully, especially the royal hall.

Everyone was praising it. Every person who arrived said the event had been arranged perfectly.

Couples were happily dancing with their mates, while Jenna was still getting ready.

Thankfully, this time she wasn’t anxious like she was on her birthday.

At least she knew there was no one waiting to blackmail her.

"Okay, everyone! It’s time for the entrance of the she-wolf this mate ball has been arranged for," I announced, clapping my hands excitedly as I stepped aside.

I was wearing a beautiful pink gown myself, but the moment Jenna appeared, all eyes went to her.

She wore the most perfect green gown, with a bright smile lighting up her face.

Her friends immediately rushed toward her, and this time, Jenna welcomed them wholeheartedly.

No tears.

No worries.

They took her hands and instantly started showering her with compliments.

Everyone else was there too, except Gigi.

I’d heard she wasn’t feeling well, which was why Ragnar had made it very clear that he would only spend a few minutes with everyone before going back to her.

It was a full moon, after all, and apparently he needed to be with his chosen mate.

The chosen mate he still hadn’t marked or officially accepted, by the way.

But who was I to complain?

More importantly, why would I?

Ragnar wasn’t my target right now.

The other two brothers came first.

A few days ago, I had successfully managed to dodge the conversation between them.

Weirdly enough, Theodore later told me that Ragnar had been the one to suggest he tell his brothers how he felt about me.

Which meant Ragnar already knew there was something going on between Theodore and me.

Obviously, Theodore hadn’t told him exactly how involved I was or how much I had been participating in whatever this was between us.

But eventually, that would come out too.

For now, they had apparently decided to wait until my wolf woke up before having that conversation.

Whatever the hell that meant.

As planned, the men had arrived wearing masks, while the women wore smaller ones that covered only their eyes.

Jenna began moving from one masked man to another, dancing with each of them because the whole point of the night was for her to find her mate.

I hadn’t had the chance to meet many of the guests, but I did spot Bruno arriving in a black suit and joining Lady Lucille, who immediately started complaining that he never came to see her.

Then there were Theodore and Jaguar.

Neither of them wore masks, just like me.

They stood in one corner with drinks in their hands, both of them watching me.

Theodore wore a dark brown suit that seemed to catch the light from across the room, while Jaguar was dressed in gray.

Their eyes remained fixed on me.

They were easily the most handsome men in the room.

Well, until their brother showed up dressed entirely in black.

Ragnar approached Jenna and interrupted her dance, immediately drawing everyone’s attention.

He spoke to her briefly, and from the way he carried himself, I could tell he was excusing himself from the event.

Jenna nodded and gave him a small bow before he turned to leave.

As he walked away, his eyes landed on me.

Then he looked down.

And looked at me again.

A quick double take.

He was so distracted that he nearly walked straight into an older man standing in his path.

"Oh, I’m sorry," Ragnar apologized, quickly stepping back.

He looked strangely awkward afterward.

Why?

Why had he looked at me twice like that?

Then again, knowing Ragnar, he was probably only staring because he wanted to fucking kill me.

That was the kind of attention I expected from him.

Jenna kept dancing, and soon everyone else joined her on the dance floor.

I still had to keep an eye on everything else, the food, the drinks, and whatever was being served.

But as midnight approached, a strange feeling started creeping through me.

Something was happening to my body.

There was pain, uneasiness, and this overwhelming sensation that I wasn’t the only one inside it anymore.

It felt like something else was there, fighting desperately to get out.

At first, I managed to keep myself under control.

I smiled at people, nodded whenever someone looked my way, and pretended everything was fine.

Then the pain became unbearable.

I couldn’t do it anymore.

Finally, I gave in and hurried toward Jaguar and Theodore.

The moment they saw me approaching, both of them straightened, as though they were already prepared to help.

Neither of them had danced with anyone all night.

Plenty of women had approached them and asked, but they kept politely excusing themselves as if they weren’t even interested in finding a mate.

"Is everything okay?" Theodore asked, immediately stepping forward.

I saw Jaguar glance at him before turning back to me.

There was something in his expression, almost like irritation.

"No. Nothing is okay," I answered, rubbing my chest gently.

"Why? What’s happening?" Jaguar asked.

"I’m feeling the same kind of pain I felt the other day."

I tried to clear my throat, but every attempt only made things worse.

It felt like I couldn’t swallow properly anymore, and the pain kept intensifying.

"Okay, calm down. How about we take you to the woods?" Theodore suggested. "It’s a full moon. Maybe your wolf is finally trying to come out."

Jaguar nodded firmly in agreement.

"Yeah, but the event.." I protested.

We had already decided I would go with them later, after all the guests had left.

"I don’t think we have time for that," Theodore said.

He pointed toward the back of my hand.

My veins had started swelling beneath my skin.

And they did not look good.

"Come on, let’s go. The event will keep running. Mrs. Bundy is here, and Bruno is too," Theodore said, reminding me that Bruno could handle things since he was also one of the managers they worked with at the company.

"Okay," I replied.

By then, I could barely walk properly.

My entire body hurt so badly that it felt as if every bone was breaking and then shifting back into place.

This was definitely not a picnic.

The moment we stepped outside, Theodore reached for my hand.

I noticed Jaguar pause and stare at him for a second.

Well, it seemed they were finally starting to notice each other’s behavior toward me.

But I honestly didn’t have the energy to care.

I tightened my grip around Theodore’s hand and let him lead me toward his car.
