Chapter 2907: Calling Mom and Dad

As soon as Li Mingxi and the others arrived, the director came out holding Xinxin’s hand.

The little girl was still a bit timid and embarrassed when she saw them.

Xiao Lang主动抱起她,温和的笑道:"今天我就是你的爸爸,这个是你的妈妈,我们要带你出去玩,开心吗?"

Xinxin nodded. "I’m happy."

Li Mingxi hadn’t expected Xiao Lang to be so good at coaxing children, and she felt a strange sensation in her heart.

The director said a few words of thanks to them and then gave Xinxin some instructions before they finally got in the car and left.

The first thing they were going to do was have breakfast.

Li Mingxi sat in the back seat with Xinxin.

She held Xinxin in her arms and chatted with her for a while, and Xinxin gradually became less restrained.

When they arrived at the breakfast shop, Xiao Lang took Xinxin’s hand and said to Li Mingxi, "You go order breakfast, I’ll go find us a seat with Xinxin."

Li Mingxi had thought Xiao Lang would be the one to order, and hadn’t expected him to push it to her.

"Okay." She went to order without any objections.

Xiao Lang led Xinxin to a table and sat down, talking to her in a low voice.

Li Mingxi finished ordering quickly, then came over and sat across from them.

"I ordered soup dumplings, century egg and lean pork congee, and some spring rolls. Do you two like those?" Li Mingxi asked.

Xiao Lang curved his lips. "I like them."

Xinxin also nodded. "I like them!"

After hesitating for a moment, the little girl blushed and timidly added, "Thank you, Mom."

"Cough, cough..." Li Mingxi had just taken a sip of water and was immediately choked by it.

Xiao Lang hurriedly pulled out a tissue for her. "You okay?"

Li Mingxi covered her mouth with the tissue. "I’m fine."

She looked over at Xinxin. The little girl’s expression was very uneasy; she was worried that Li Mingxi was angry.

Li Mingxi smiled. "You’re welcome."

Only then did Xinxin smile, and Xiao Lang, sitting beside her, was also smiling.

The breakfast was quickly brought over. Xiao Lang placed the bowl of century egg and lean pork congee in front of Li Mingxi. "You just need to finish this."

Li Mingxi had ordered three portions of everything.

He only asked Li Mingxi to drink the congee; he didn’t insist she eat anything else.

Xinxin immediately asked nervously, "Will Mom have enough to eat?"

Li Mingxi thought, You should be asking whether I can finish it.

"What your mom has is enough. You should eat more in a bit—eat more so you can grow taller."

"Okay, Dad!"

This "Dad" from Xinxin came out even more naturally than her first "Mom."

Li Mingxi glanced at Xiao Lang, and he gave her an awkward little smile.

Xinxin must have started calling them Dad and Mom because he’d prompted her...

Li Mingxi didn’t hold it against him; they were acting today anyway.

Xinxin had a very good appetite today and ate a lot for breakfast, whereas Li Mingxi only managed a few spoonfuls of congee before she couldn’t eat any more.

"Why isn’t Mom eating? Is it not good?"

Li Mingxi smiled. "I’m not hungry."

"But you’ll be hungry later. Mom, you have to eat more. Otherwise, before noon, you’re not allowed to eat." Xinxin earnestly reminded her.

Both Li Mingxi and Xiao Lang knew the orphanage had very strict meal times.

If it wasn’t time yet, they weren’t allowed to eat. Even if they were hungry, they could only endure it.

Thinking about how the children there couldn’t even eat whenever they wanted, Li Mingxi felt she was being too wasteful with food.

She picked the spoon back up. "Okay, I’ll eat some more."

Li Mingxi forced down a few more spoonfuls of congee, and then Xiao Lang suddenly pressed down on her hand. "If you’re full, we can just go."

Li Mingxi didn’t push herself. If she ate too much, she’d throw up, so it was better not to.
