Fated love: the unwanted bride
Chapter 2709: You Should Admit Your Defeat Wholeheartedly
Kieran Janus’s finger tightened on the trigger.
The cold muzzle was pointed at Sylvan Cheney’s temple, and he only slightly closed his eyes, with traces of exhaustion but calmness in his eyes, without any fluctuations.
He knew Kieran Janus didn’t dare to shoot easily.
"Kieran, Erin is still in the hospital. I’ve arranged the best bodyguards to watch over her. Aren’t you going to take a look? Hmm?" Sylvan Cheney’s deep voice carried a hint of threat.
Sure enough, Kieran Janus’s expression changed again.
"What have you done to her?"
"Nothing much, just having people watch over her, watching carefully. After all... pregnant women can’t afford any carelessness, isn’t that right, President Janus?"
"Sylvan Cheney, you’re despicable. You’ve planned everything flawlessly, just waiting for me to fall into it, right?" Kieran Janus gritted his teeth.
"This only proves one thing, Kieran. If you’re not as skilled, you must admit defeat. Whether it’s in a professional financial battle or in tactics, you are no match for me. I have enough patience to set up an impeccable scheme, while you have not even a tenth of my patience. You caught hold of my weakness to threaten me, with an air of superiority, yet never thought things through from beginning to end. Kieran, you should concede your loss without complaint, shouldn’t you?"
"You..."
Kieran Janus was infuriated, what a "concede without complaint."
He had been in the financial world for many years, experiencing numerous ups and downs, but this was the first time he had been given such a hard slap by a junior.
Although he had heard about Sylvan Cheney from Landon while in UT, he initially thought it was just a newspaper gimmick to attract attention. Now he knew Sylvan was ruthless, deeply scheming, extremely cunning and composed, and with very meticulous and cautious thinking.
From the partial documents and ultimatums he received today, it was clear the entire James Group was already rotten from the inside, just waiting for a collapse.
Once the headquarters collapsed, all branches across various locations would also crumble.
A single trigger point could bring down the whole thing, like dominoes; all rise and fall together.
Supporting such a large group was arduous, but if it were to truly collapse, it would happen very quickly.
Over the years, he had seen new companies rise in the financial world and big companies go bankrupt, so after taking over the James Group, he was eager to find a financial genius to help him hold up the facade.
He never expected that "bankruptcy" would come upon him so soon.
At this moment, his gun was still pointed at Sylvan Cheney.
He clearly understood what Sylvan’s actions meant for him, for the Janus Family, and for the James Group.
Anger and annoyance surged up again!
Yet, he still couldn’t fire the gun.
Outside the window, the night was deep, pitch-black, with a seemingly endless stretch of long night and rain; this darkness seemed like it would never end.
It was the quietest moment of the day.
"Kieran Janus, your competence in controlling the situation and ability to turn things around are far inferior to mine. People like you are only suited to enjoy the fruits of others’ labor. After all, you didn’t create or support James Group by yourself. You’re only fit for smooth sailing, not a headwind situation. People like you are destined not to be my match."
"Kieran, even if I didn’t use underhanded methods, in the fair competition of the financial world, you still wouldn’t be my match."
Sylvan Cheney spoke every word clearly.
Like a drumstick, knocking on Kieran Janus’s heart.
The pangs of pain came, Kieran’s heart pounded violently, his blood rushed backward, the whole person felt suffocating, struggled to breathe.
