Fated love: the unwanted bride
Chapter 2697: Headache, Striking Without Warning
Old York, James Group Headquarters.
President’s Office.
In the morning, a layer of fog appeared outside the window, hazy and dispersed.
After finishing the meeting, Sylvan Cheney remembered he hadn’t had breakfast yet, and just as he was about to go to the restaurant, his head started to ache uncomfortably.
Probably due to not resting well at night, the pain today was more intense than ever before.
His chest also felt uncomfortable, his heart racing, as if it was about to leap out of his throat.
He sat back in his seat, refrained from walking around, his expression deep, pressing his head with his fist, gasping for air.
A layer of cold sweat appeared behind him.
First, his head hurt intensely, then flashes of uncontrollable chaotic fragments appeared like when he first arrived in Cakago and met Jasmine Yale, who fainted under the scorching sun while heavily pregnant; later was when she secretly called in the office and was discovered by him, and he reprimanded her.
There were countless fragments, sometimes she brought him meals from home, sometimes she accompanied him working overtime, and sometimes he accompanied her shopping.
All these fragments, without exception, were related to Jasmine Yale.
Some things seemed etched in his mind, with a slight movement, all were triggered, causing an earthquake-like headache.
The headache came without warning.
His body felt uncomfortable as well.
Because he hadn’t eaten breakfast, he had to close his eyes slightly to relieve the discomfort.
After a while, he opened the drawer, took out several boxes of medicine, and swallowed them with mineral water.
Sylvan Cheney’s sharp eyes were always furrowed, his face reflecting deep emotions, like a sky before a storm, without a hint of a smile.
One hand rested on the table, and only after a long while did his body feel somewhat better.
He was very hungry, actually quite wanted breakfast, but even after more than a year, he still hadn’t gotten used to Cakago’s breakfast.
His taste was picky by nature, and he hadn’t found any restaurant that completely suited his palate.
If it doesn’t suit his taste, he’d rather not eat.
Not eating meant his body bore the brunt.
He rubbed his temples when his phone on the table rang.
"Hello."
"Evan, I’m receiving continuous bank default warnings over here, what’s going on?" It was Kieran Janus on the other end.
"Oh, banks always like to make a fuss over nothing. Send me the contract, I’ll talk to them." Sylvan responded nonchalantly.
"Is it making a fuss, or did you really default with those big banks? Delayed loans, misused funds, huge monthly interest owed, what does it all mean? And there are many strange loans, I’ve never approved them."
"Dad, that’s how foreign banks are, they like to show off trivial matters. I’ll resolve everything today, enjoy your vacation on Phaket Island, don’t let this ruin your mood."
"Can you resolve it today?"
"I can."
"Then go solve it, I don’t want to receive similar notices again."
"Certainly."
Kieran Janus seemed somewhat dissatisfied, asking him several internal group questions until Sylvan gave earnest answers before reluctantly snorting and hanging up.
Sylvan Cheney tossed aside the phone, opened his laptop, and habitually lit a cigarette.
His head still ached, but the medicine had helped somewhat.
Soon, Sylvan received several emails from Kieran Janus.
He carefully reviewed them and then made a phone call to the bank director to explain the matters.
