Fated love: the unwanted bride
Chapter 2693: The Comb—Such a Lovely Symbol
Little Clementine, the little guy, gets excited at the mention of a toy train.
Jasmine Yale holds her on the plush carpet, assembles the toy train, and plays by holding Little Clementine’s hand.
Little Clementine’s big eyes follow the running toy train, sparkling and lively.
Jasmine teaches her to play for a while, then she can play on her own, throwing the toy train down from a height and watching it run along the track.
Sitting on the carpet, Jasmine occasionally gazes out at the sunlight and gets distracted, her thoughts wandering.
The sunshine outside is beautiful, spilling onto high buildings, lawns, streets... Though it’s autumn, it’s still full of life, even the air breathes a serene atmosphere.
The window is open, with refreshing autumn breeze occasionally blowing in, lifting her strands of hair.
Little Clementine plays joyfully, playing by herself without any worries, very easy to care for.
At this moment, the lively Little Clementine and the feverish little fellow seem like two different people.
During lunch.
Jasmine watches the table full of dishes prepared by Butler Santana, eating quietly, hardly speaking for a long time.
Sometimes she feeds Little Clementine a little.
Halfway through eating, she speaks, "Butler Santana, please help me sell some things this afternoon. Get as much as you can, and donate all proceeds to charity."
"Things? Miss Yale, what do you want to sell?" Butler Santana is surprised.
"Just some unnecessary things, things I can’t take with me."
"Miss Yale, where are you going? Can you tell me?"
"The world is big, there’s always a place for me."
"Miss Yale, taking Little Clementine with you alone is too tough, and moving isn’t easy. Staying in Cakago... isn’t it good? Mr. Cheney said he’d leave UT after getting married."
"It’s unrelated to him, I just want to find a place to live peacefully, nothing more," Jasmine lightly brushes off.
"Can’t you tell me?"
"No need... Butler Santana, thank you for your care all this time, thank you. I’ve resigned for some time, and lately, there’s been nothing much, so I plan to leave Cakago soon. Butler Santana, will you leave or stay here?"
"If you leave, why should I stay in a place so unfamiliar to me?" Butler Santana sighs, "I’ve thought about it too, and I plan to return to Lonton; after all, I’ve lived there for so many years."
"That’s fine." Jasmine doesn’t argue.
Butler Santana knows Jasmine has made up her mind to leave and doesn’t interfere.
The meal goes without much conversation.
After the meal, Jasmine gives Butler Santana the things she had packed long ago.
The storage box contains all brand-new items.
"Miss Yale, you should keep some, don’t go against the gifts, no matter what," Butler Santana feels a bit reluctant; most of these are gifts from Mr. Cheney to Jasmine.
"These things are useless for me to keep."
"How about this comb? Keep it," Butler Santana picks out the comb Sylvan once gave Jasmine, the comb has such a good meaning.
"No need," Jasmine is quite decisive, closing the storage box and hands them all to Butler Santana.
"Miss Yale..." Butler Santana looks regretful.
"Take them all, they’re just things that you can’t take with you when you die, nothing to be regretted, they’re just some cold objects."
"I understand, I’ll sell them all this afternoon."
