Chapter 2648: Thank You for No Longer Disturbing Me in This Life

"Oh." She lowered her head in disappointment, not arguing, and ate her breakfast slowly and deliberately, too embarrassed to look at him.

Later, he woke up from this dream.

Sylvan Cheney didn’t know why he always had such mundane dreams; that little girl had appeared in his dreams many times.

Her personality wasn’t much like Jasmine Yale’s; he once thought it was Little Clementine.

Later on, he dreamed of carrying a young girl upstairs and kissing her cheek.

That’s when he realized it couldn’t be Little Clementine.

But a dream is just a dream, and there’s no point in overthinking it.

By the time Sylvan Cheney refocused his thoughts, Jasmine Yale had already undone her hair tie, letting her hair fall back over her shoulders.

Sylvan Cheney frowned and picked up the comb again: "How would you like it tied? I’ll help you."

Jasmine Yale said nothing and casually tied her hair into a ponytail.

"Then let’s go, it’s getting late."

"I’ll go home for breakfast."

"Didn’t you just say you wanted to stay at the hospital for a few more days?"

"People change."

"Oh? Then you’re changing pretty quickly, even faster than the weather in June." His tone carried a hint of mockery.

She ignored him, brushing past his shoulder to turn back into the ward.

She packed up her belongings, preparing to leave.

"Leaving just like that?" Sylvan Cheney leaned against the bathroom doorframe, looking at her indifferently, "Not even a ’thank you’?"

Jasmine Yale stopped, turned her head, and looked at him mockingly: "Thank you for rescuing me while watching from a distance, thank you for looking down on me as I fall into the dust, thank you for letting me go, and also thank you for not bothering me for the rest of my life. Is that enough?"

"That’s fine." He was initially taken aback, then smirked, "You won’t be going back to work at ZR, right?"

"That’s none of your business."

"I saved you from Navy Caddel, not so you could send yourself back. You’d better cut all ties completely with Will Caddel; after all, there may be no one to save you again in the future."

"Sylvan Cheney, do you enjoy looking down on me from such a high horse? All my efforts over the past half a year mean nothing to you, right?"

"It’s not that serious; at most, it’s just not worth mentioning." A disdainful curve appeared on his lips.

Jasmine Yale suppressed the almost overwhelming heartbeat in her chest, clenching her teeth, looking nearly hatefully at Sylvan Cheney.

In the brightly lit hospital room, she glared at Sylvan Cheney for a long time, her eyes filled with red veins.

Not worth mentioning.

Yes, the results she had struggled to achieve, he could get with effortless ease, but he could not deny her efforts.

No one spoke.

Just then, Sylvan Cheney’s phone rang, breaking the silence.

He took out his phone, glanced at it, and answered: "Hello."

"Evan, when are you coming back to Old York? I really don’t want to eat the breakfast Auntie made this morning. I want you to buy me morning tea."

"I’m on a business trip."

"I miss you... Daddy really insists on having you handle that financial district project. I’m heavily pregnant and really uncomfortable."

"Hasn’t Stacy gone to Old York? Isn’t she with you?"

"Her? She’s always meeting this boyfriend or that boyfriend. How could she have time for me? It’s another boring day, I really want coffee."

"No way, I’ll have the butler keep an eye on you."

The voice on the other end burst into laughter.
