Fated love: the unwanted bride

Chapter 2647: She Knew, That’s Called Liking

  • Next Chapter

Sylvan Cheney’s technique for styling hair was quite skilled, even to the point where he was a bit surprised himself.

"Alright, take a look and see if you’re satisfied." Sylvan Cheney pulled her over to the mirror.

Jasmine Yale, now neatly dressed, looked spirited, her complexion rosy, lashes curled, and her eyes full of vitality.

Sylvan Cheney had styled her hair into dual ponytails.

Jasmine Yale gazed at her reflection in the mirror. For a moment, her eyes filled with astonishment, as if she saw herself at sixteen or seventeen.

Back then, she loved wearing dual ponytails, looking very obedient, charming, and sweet, or as some would say, particularly likable.

Likable... likable to whom really.

Time hadn’t left much of a mark on her face, except for the baby fat fading from her cheeks, her eyes being not as bright as before, and her smile not as radiant, everything else seemed unchanged.

In moments of ambiguity, she often felt like she was back in the days gone by.

Sixteen to seventeen, the age of youthful innocence, when the tender buds of longing first break their shells.

Back then, she started paying attention to her every word and deed, started behaving properly, speaking softly, and began to focus on her attire and appearance.

She exhibited all the typical traits of a teenage girl.

She bought many cheap little accessories and learned various beautiful hairstyles, all to ensure she looked pretty every day.

Because every morning, she could share a table and have breakfast with him, and he would exchange a few words with her, inquire about her studies or sleep.

Just having his glance fall on her would make her excited, her heart would race, her speech would quicken, words not matching thoughts.

She knew that was called liking.

The purest kind of liking, without any impurities.

And now, seeing herself in the mirror once more, she reached out in an attempt to undo the ponytails he had styled.

Sylvan Cheney frowned and pressed down her hand, "Don’t like it?"

"Hmm."

"I think it’s quite nice, suits you well."

It was a spur of the moment thing for him to suddenly style her hair into dual ponytails because last night, he dreamed of her like this.

Due to insomnia, anxiety, stress, emotions, he who wasn’t much of a dreamer had been dreaming almost every night lately.

Last night, he dreamed of that young girl again, the one who looked so much like her.

The young girl still appeared to be sixteen or seventeen, lively and cute, quite unlike Jasmine Yale’s personality.

In the dream, he and the girl sat across each other at the breakfast table.

He cut a piece of bread, spread it with blueberry jam, and handed it over: "Eat more, moving up to high school will bring pressure."

The girl nodded frequently, eating the bread he had handed over, occasionally glancing at him.

As soon as he raised his head, she would quickly retract her gaze, pretending not to care.

"Your hairpin is too eye-catching today, don’t wear it tomorrow." He looked at the girl blandly, noticing the star hairpin in her hair.

She touched her head in grievance: "Not pretty?"

"Not pretty." He casually dropped three words.

"Oh, not pretty, huh." Disappointment was immense in her tone and on her face.

After a while, she tentatively asked again: "Then... is my dress pretty today?"

He raised his head, glanced briefly, his furrow deepened: "No more wearing such bright-patterned dresses, wear uniforms whenever possible, students should look like students."
