Fated love: the unwanted bride

Chapter 2603: You Must Protect Your Wife and Daughter

"Do I look like I’m drunk? From now on, be a good husband and father. Don’t let others down." Jasmine Yale smirked, her lips maintaining an upwards arc.

Erin Janus glanced at Jasmine Yale from behind Sylvan Cheney, lifting her chin: "Is it your place to lecture Evan? Do I need you to judge whether he treats me well? Let me tell you, he treats me so well, he personally takes care of me, makes me breakfast, bathes me. So, yes, he’s a good husband and father, just not to you. Don’t be disappointed, you can’t covet other people’s men, take your daughter and find her another dad, stop trying to stick to Evan!"

Jasmine Yale looked at Erin Janus behind Sylvan Cheney, and also at Sylvan Cheney’s broad shoulders.

She smiled.

Yes, his shoulders already belong to someone else; he’s long accustomed to shielding another woman from the storm.

And she, she’s learned to protect herself from the elements, no longer needing him.

At this moment, Erin Janus was sheltered behind him, while he coldly looked at her.

"Evan, let’s go to the hospital, otherwise CEO Zaila will be back soon."

"Alright." Before leaving, Sylvan Cheney looked at Jasmine Yale again, a deep and profound gleam in his eyes, bottomless, only murky and icy.

Finally, his gaze landed on her bare feet as he departed.

Erin Janus wouldn’t let up, deliberately leaning on Sylvan Cheney as she complained: "Some poor women just want to turn into a phoenix, but however a sparrow tries, it can’t become a phoenix — not every ugly duckling can transform into a swan. Look at her dress, last year’s style, with no bust, she can’t pull it off, doesn’t even know that."

Erin Janus walked slowly, her voice drifting occasionally: "Evan, look at her drunken state, truly scary, like she wants to devour me. Luckily, you’re by my side; if you’re not here and she threatens me with a knife, what will I do... You must protect your wife and daughter."

Jasmine Yale lowered her head, picking up her heels from the ground.

A waiter came over to clean up the mess and debris on the floor.

"Miss, are you hurt anywhere? Let me take you to see a doctor." The waiter approached Jasmine Yale.

Jasmine Yale shook her head, smiling: "It’s fine, I’m not hurt."

"I apologize, Miss, it’s our hosting mismanagement, I’m really sorry."

"It’s alright, I’m really fine, just took a fall. Everyone has clumsy moments, being able to stand up again is what matters. Moreover, I didn’t even get hurt."

"Miss, if you feel uncomfortable at all, please inform me promptly."

"Alright, you go ahead."

"Let me take you to change clothes? There’s new clothing in the dressing room, you can pick something."

Jasmine Yale looked at the wine-dripping hem of her dress, feeling rather embarrassed. She didn’t refuse again and nodded: "Thank you."

Following the waiter to the dressing room, she picked out a simple blue shirt and a black pleated skirt.

A simple outfit, not as eye-catching as an evening gown, but fresh and minimalist.

She let down her updo, tying her hair into a ponytail with a band.

Just after tying her hair, Will Caddel’s call came through.

"Jasmine, where are you? I just heard someone fell – was it you?" Will Caddel’s voice was quite anxious.

"I’m in the dressing room, it’s fine."
