Chapter 320 - 321: Get Out Here Yourself

Stone finally climbed to his feet. After a moment of hesitation, he followed.

Xiao Yu charged into the Princess Consort’s courtyard. The Princess Consort was reclining on a chaise lounge, lazily listening to Nanny Xu’s report on the manor’s affairs.

When she suddenly saw Xiao Yu rush in with his hair disheveled, her eyes lit up with surprise and delight. "Yu’er, you’re finally back—"

Before she could finish, the Princess Consort’s expression changed. Xiao Yu was glaring fixedly, his appearance utterly terrifying.

She trembled. "Yu’er, what... what’s wrong with you?"

Xiao Yu stared at the Princess Consort and said, word by word, "Why did you summon her?"

"Why did you humiliate her?"

"Why?"

The Princess Consort’s eyes widened. It took her a long moment to realize who Xiao Yu meant by "her."

She said guiltily, "Well, Mother also heard some unsavory rumors circulating outside, saying that you and she..."

Xiao Yu’s expression was glacial. "Is that the kind of person I am in your heart, Mother?"

"One who engages in illicit affairs and ruins the reputation of a decent woman?"

"Or do you think I have so little self-control that I couldn’t even restrain myself for half a year?"

The Princess Consort waved her hands frantically. "No, no, Yu’er! Mother... Mother does believe you."

"And listen to me, I didn’t do anything to that Miss Gu. I just asked her a few questions and let her go."

Veins bulged on Xiao Yu’s forehead. "What more did you want to do?"

"You forced her to make that kind of vicious oath! You—"

If this wasn’t his own mother, Xiao Yu would have already lashed out and beaten someone.

The Princess Consort was too panicked to know what to say. Beside her, Nanny Xu stepped forward. "Young Master Heir, please calm your anger. This matter isn’t entirely the Princess Consort’s fault. Her Highness was also deceived."

She was the Princess Consort’s childhood nanny; she couldn’t just stand by and watch the mother and son fall out.

She knew how much the Princess Consort cared for her son.

The Princess Consort quickly added, "Yes, yes, yes! I was deceived!"

Xiao Yu glared fixedly at Nanny Xu. "You. Speak. If you don’t explain everything clearly to me today, every last servant in this room will be beaten to death!"

The Princess Consort flinched. Behind her, Ruyu flinched as well, her eyes downcast, not daring to even glance at Xiao Yu.

Nanny Xu glanced at Ruyu and said unhurriedly, "A few days ago, the Princess Consort suddenly heard that the Young Master Heir had paid to free a girl from the Imperial Music Bureau. So, she had that girl and Miss Gu summoned for questioning."

"Originally, she intended to have them inspected, but ultimately, the Princess Consort trusted the Young Master Heir, so the inspection was not performed."

"When this old servant was escorting Miss Gu out, we happened to run into Housekeeper Wu. Miss Gu then pointed right at Housekeeper Wu’s nose and accused him of spreading malicious gossip before the Princess Consort to deliberately frame her."

The Princess Consort was completely bewildered. ’How did Housekeeper Wu get dragged into this?’

Standing behind her, Ruyu was now trembling uncontrollably.

Nanny Xu then repeated what Gu Fei had said that day. Only then did the Princess Consort understand that Housekeeper Wu and Miss Gu had an old grudge.

’Come to think of it, perhaps those rumors were passed to me intentionally.’

She turned and glanced at Ruyu, her gaze icy.

Hearing this, Xiao Yu began to laugh. "Excellent! Just excellent! I originally thought that even if Housekeeper Wu had no great merits in managing the manor’s affairs, he at least worked hard, so I let him off the hook. Who knew he’d dare to harbor a grudge?"

His face suddenly turned cold. "Get that dog of a slave, Wu Dahai, over here!"

Stone, who was waiting outside the door, heard Xiao Yu’s command and quickly ran off to get Housekeeper Wu.

Xiao Yu flicked his robes aside and sat down. "Who was it that fed those bastardly words into my mother’s ear?"

"Crawl out here yourself."
