Covered in dirt, Xiaqing ran to the chicken coop door. Peering through the small glass window, she immediately spotted a pinkish-white egg in a nesting box on the shelf against the wall.

Xiaqing opened the door and rushed in, cradling the egg, which was about the size of a pre-Natural Disaster goose egg. Eighteen ways to cook an egg flashed through her mind before she quickly made her choice.

’Scrambled eggs with tomatoes!’

Xiaqing carefully carried the egg into the house and placed it in the refrigerator, where the Yi Stone would protect it. Only then did she rush out to the terraced fields to pick three bright red Green Light tomatoes and pinch off two Green Light scallion leaves.

Hearing Sheep Leader’s call, the Black Feathered Rooster quickly led the flock out of the coop, guiding its brothers and sisters to follow Sheep Leader.

Watching this scene through the kitchen window, Xiaqing was genuinely impressed with Sheep Leader.

Sheep Leader had taken the chickens to the Deserted Village in the southeastern corner of the territory. This village had more snakes, scorpions, and mosquitos than the other two villages. Xiaqing had inspected it twice carefully but couldn’t find the reason why, so she could only spray it twice as much with insecticide each time.

Even so, insects still liked to gather here, so this village became Sheep Leader’s chicken-herding spot.

When Xiaqing arrived, she found Sheep Leader lying in the shade chewing its cud, while the flock of chickens searched for bugs in the overgrown grass nearby. Four Little Swallows were perched on a broken wooden windowsill, chirping away.

After listening carefully to make sure there were no reptilian animals nearby, Xiaqing moved a rock to sit next to Sheep Leader and began to read one of the animal husbandry books she had collected.

Once the hottest part of the day had passed, Xiaqing and Sheep Leader herded the chickens back into the coop and secured it. Then, she gathered her tools to set out. "Boss, I’m heading to Valley No. 1. Captain Hu said there’s a patch of Mountain Ginger there. I’m going to test it, and if it’s edible, I’ll bring some back. You’ll have Mountain Ginger leaves for dinner tonight."

When Chen Zheng of Hu Zifeng’s team came to guard the Third Territory, he had told Xiaqing something related to the Wolf Group. "Yesterday morning, people from the Research Institute asked about the tamed wolf beasts. Brother Dong said the wolves got angry because of the howling from the loudspeakers, left the team, and ran into the Evolution Forest. Today, Su Feng and Jiang Xiong formed a joint team, left the Safe Zone, and entered the Northern Evolution Forest of Mountain No. 49. They’re definitely going after the Wolf Group."

The Jiang Bear Team was ranked fifth in Hui San Base. The team raised over a dozen Evolutionary dogs. After failing to tame wolf beasts a few years ago, they had spent the last two years trying to breed wolf-dogs with greater combat strength than Evolutionary dogs.

Xiaqing had asked, "Who’s leading the Jiang Bear Team?"

Chen Zheng replied, "Their commander, Blind Jiang."

Xiaqing wasn’t surprised that the Jiang Bear Team had sent a squad over after learning the Green Dragon Team’s tamed wolves had run back to the Evolution Forest, but she hadn’t expected Blind Jiang to come personally. "How many people did he bring?"

"Two squads from Jiang Bear, plus two Evolutionary dogs, and one squad from Su Feng. Judging by the weight of their gear, they’ll probably be searching in the Evolution Forest for a few days." Chen Zheng was worried for the Wolf Group. "Sister Qing, if the Wolf Group runs into Blind Jiang’s men, they’ll definitely be at a disadvantage."

In terms of combat strength, the Wolf Group led by the Head Wolf was no weaker than the Jiang Bear Team. But the Jiang Bear Team was not only familiar with the habits of wolves and dogs, they were also skilled in using poison. Without Protective Masks, the Wolf Group could easily fall victim to them.

Xiaqing had asked, "Which way did they go? How long have they been inside?"

Xiaqing decisively dialed Tan Junjie’s number. "Captain Tan, could you please help me contact Lord No. 8, Xin Yu? I have a deal I’d like to discuss with her."

Now, a team with Evolutionary dogs is searching for it in the Northern Evolution Forest, and I’m worried it’ll be captured. So, I was hoping to ask your Tamed bird to spread wolf droppings in the Northern Evolution Forest to confuse the Evolutionary dogs. I can pay with edible Chestnuts or pine nuts, but the Chestnuts are only Yellow Light grade."

Aside from the Jade Belt Sea Eagle and the Evolutionary Eagle with the broken wing, Xin Yu surely raised other birds. The two types of nuts Xiaqing chose were both favorites of omnivorous birds.

As expected, Xin Yu was tempted. She asked, "Which team, how many people, and how large an area do you need covered?"

Xiaqing quickly replied, "Three squads from Su Feng and Jiang Xiong, over twenty people, plus two Evolutionary dogs. The droppings just need to be spread in their path of advance, to lead them towards Mountain No. 50 and Mountain No. 52."
