Chapter 167: Chapter 167: How to Eat This Thing

"Thank you for the pangolin, Queen. I appreciate your hard work." Xiaqing carried the small pangolin back into the house to test it. The Head Wolf’s performance was consistent—it was still Green Light.

The small pangolin weighed over six pounds. The scales on its body were much lighter in color than those of the larger one in the yard. Its head was already smashed in, likely with a rock.

Xiaqing wasn’t the least bit surprised that the Wolf Group had used rocks to hunt this time instead of their claws and teeth. ’A pack of wolves that could intimidate a weasel into coming over for a plucking? What was so surprising about them stoning a pangolin to death?’

Xiaqing had no idea how to eat this thing, nor did she intend to. She planned to trade it away.

This time, she didn’t contact Ji Li from Territory Land No. 7. Instead, she sent a message to Luo Pei.

An Evolutionary Pangolin was a valuable item that could be used in medicine. It had been five months since Luo Pei was poisoned, and his skin still had a faint reddish hue, which probably meant the poison hadn’t been completely purged.

’With the Green Dragon Team’s power and Luo Pei’s status within it, the fact that he hadn’t fully recovered after so long meant it definitely wasn’t a lack of money or doctors. It had to be a lack of a key medicinal ingredient.’

’She just didn’t know what medicine they were missing, or if this pangolin would be of any use.’

’If it was no use to them, Xiaqing would just trade it with Territory Land No. 7.’

A few minutes after she sent the text, Luo Pei called. In a very gentle and casual tone, he asked, "Xiaqing, what time is it now?"

"Four twenty-six," Xiaqing answered precisely. Having given the countersign, she let Luo Pei know she wasn’t under duress.

Only then was Luo Pei convinced that Xiaqing had really obtained a pangolin. He asked, "The Wolf Group brought you a Green Light Pangolin?"

"Mhm, it feels like it weighs over six pounds. There’s a bigger one too, but the Wolf Group brought that for two of their injured wolves to eat."

This was truly...

They had searched high and low for one to no avail, yet Xiaqing had obtained one without any effort at all.

The three leaders of the Green Dragon Team exchanged glances. Yang Jin made a "ten" gesture to Luo Pei with his fingers.

Luo Pei nodded and replied gently, "An Evolutionary Green Light Pangolin can be used in medicine to purge poison. It’s exactly what I’ve been searching for everywhere. I’ll offer one hundred thousand points. Can you trade the entire small pangolin to me? Or I can provide other equivalent resources you might need."

’One... hundred thousand? A single dead Green Light Pangolin was actually worth the price of five Evolution Cats?!’

Xiaqing immediately agreed. "Of course. Brother Luo, which part of the pangolin is used for the medicine? If it’s the scales, once the wolves are done eating the large pangolin’s organs, should I save the large one’s scales too?"

Luo Pei laughed. "It is the scales. If you can get your hands on the large pangolin’s scales as well, I’ll trade three hundred thousand points for both the large and small sets. How does that sound?"

’Of course it was okay! How could it not be?!’

Outwardly, Xiaqing remained polite. "Since it will help Brother Luo’s recovery, of course I have to get them for you. Mentioning points is too formal. Brother Luo, just deduct it directly from the debt I owe for the mountain."

’One thing at a time,’ she thought. ’The deal she discussed with Yang Jin last night was to trade spinach juice for Protective Masks and Protective Suits. That couldn’t be mixed with this morning’s pangolin deal.’

To this day, Xiaqing still owed the Green Dragon Team over seven hundred fifty thousand points for buying the mountain on her behalf. The reason it was down by over forty thousand was that she had exchanged some spring water with the Green Dragon Team this month at their previously agreed-upon price. The points for the spring water were deducted from the original eight-hundred-thousand-point debt.

’She never expected pangolin scales to be so valuable. The two the Wolf Group caught could be sold for three hundred thousand! With one toss of a rock, the Wolf Group had helped her slice off almost half of her debt.’

’Awesome!’

’Speaking of which, Yang Jin had told her this and that had gone up in price. Shouldn’t her own Pollution-free Spring Water also get a price hike?’

’She had to find a way to inquire about the current price the Fiery Fire Team was selling their spring water for. If the Fiery Fire Team had raised their prices, she would have to raise hers too the next time she traded resources with the Green Dragon Team.’

Luo Pei chuckled and agreed. "I’ll have Hu Zifeng come over to pick it up. Xiaqing, thank you."

"Okay," Xiaqing replied, adding a reminder, "Brother Luo, have Captain Hu come in twenty minutes. I have to wait for the Wolf Group to finish eating before I can get the large pangolin’s scales."

Luo Pei agreed. Then, Xiaqing heard Yang Jin’s voice from the other end of the line, "Brother Luo, tell Xiaqing that the two pangolins the Wolf Group captured are very likely the Su Feng Team’s tamed beasts."

Luo Pei asked Xiaqing with a laugh, "Did you hear that?"

"Heard it. I’ll destroy the evidence immediately," Xiaqing replied, then asked gossipily, "Brother Luo, were these two tamed beasts from the Su Feng Team impressive?"

Luo Pei didn’t answer directly, instead turning the phone toward Yang Jin. "Ah Jin, she’s asking you."

Yang Jin answered, "Very. They were specially trained to find Yi Stones. The Su Feng Team just spent a fortune on them last month. This was probably their first time out on a mission."

Xiaqing understood. "They suspected there was a Yi Stone Mine on Mountain No. 49, so they brought the pangolins over to dig while Brother Luo was away from the territory and everyone’s attention was on the Evolution Bird Group. But unfortunately for them, it was right when Captain Tan was using ultrasound to attack the Evolutionary Ape-eating Eagle. The pangolins got spooked and ran, and the Wolf Group caught them red-handed."

A third cheerful, young voice came from the other end of the phone. "Sister Qing, great minds think alike."

Luo Pei introduced him, "This is Xie Yu. You two haven’t met."

’The three leaders of the Green Dragon Team are all gathered together at four in the morning?’ Xiaqing quickly greeted him, "Captain Xie, just call me Xiaqing."

’She was neither older nor as capable as Xie Yu; she didn’t dare accept the title of "Sister."’ After hearing what sounded like a slap on the other end, Xiaqing heard Xie Yu continue:

"Alright, Xiaqing. Thank you for thinking of Brother Luo’s injury the moment you got your hands on such a precious resource. As a personal thank you, I’ll send you a thousand rounds of bullets. And don’t listen to Instructor Luo’s nonsense. Killing seven raptors without a scratch during your first battle with an Evolution Bird Group is already very impressive. By the way, could I ask a favor of you?"

’A thousand rounds of bullets?!’ Xiaqing thought. ’So Xie Yu is bald not just because he’s smart enough to think his hair off, but also because he’s so generous he plucks it all out to give away!’ With a pleasant expression, Xiaqing said, "Captain Xie, please speak."

Xie Yu stated his request. "Can we send Chang Li to your territory and Zone Three of Mountain 49 to search for any scales the Wolf Group might have dropped while carrying the pangolins?"

Yang Jin reminded Xiaqing, "If the pangolins belong to the Su Feng Team, their Evolutionary dogs and High Level Olfactory Evolvers are definitely on their way there now."

Xiaqing felt an even greater sense of urgency. "Can Doctor Chang come over with Captain Hu? The sooner we clean everything up, the better."

Chang Li was a Level 9 Olfactory Evolver. Her nose was as good as a military dog’s.

After hanging up the phone, Yang Jin, Xie Yu, and Luo Pei looked at each other and smiled.

Xie Yu scratched his messy hair and exclaimed in amazement, "Brother Luo, sometimes you just have to believe in fate. I think Xiaqing is your fated benefactor."

Luo Pei nodded. "That’s why I have to teach her well, so she can survive the Natural Disaster."

Yang Jin began to lay out the subsequent arrangements. "I just checked. There are clouds near Mountain No. 49 right now. After Chang Li finishes her search, we’ll make it rain on Mountain No. 49 to wash away all the traces."

Luo Pei asked, "Should we notify Xiaqing in advance?"

For farming Lords, every unforecasted rainstorm was a source of anxiety.

Yang Jin shook his head. "No need. The fewer people who know, the easier it is to cover up the truth. We don’t even need to inform Hu Zifeng and the others."

Inside the Third Territory, after sealing up the small pangolin, Xiaqing stared through the window at the Wolf Group eating meat in the yard.
