Chapter 166: Chapter 166: Tamed Beast

"That Evolutionary Sheep is her most important companion. Getting gear for the sheep is very important to her." Yang Jin flicked the ash from his cigarette. "She has something to protect now, and companions. Brother Luo has already pointed out her weaknesses. No need to rush her; she’ll work hard to shore them up."

"I was indeed too hasty. In the ten years since the Natural Disaster, Xiaqing is the best prospect I’ve ever met." Luo Pei didn’t finish his sentence, but both Yang Jin and Xie Yu understood what he meant.

After being poisoned with Qiang Synthesized Poison, Luo Pei underwent four months of agonizing detoxification treatment. His bodily functions recovered by ninety percent, but a portion of the poison remains stubbornly lodged deep within his damaged internal organs, impossible to remove. If a peak-condition Luo Pei had gone to intercept the Evolution Bird Group, there’s no way he would have let a single Evolutionary Ape-eating Eagle escape.

Luo Pei feared that his physical strength would continue to decline under the influence of the residual poison, which was why he was in such a hurry to train a Top Level Sniper to replace him. Xiaqing was a Three Systems High Level Superpower User with keen senses, determination, and Strength. She was the best candidate Luo Pei could get his hands on and trust at the moment.

"Brother Luo, don’t worry. If we still can’t gather the medicine for the antidote by November, I’ll go find Zhang San and ask him to come with me to the Red City Headquarters." Xie Yu laid out his plan to put Luo Pei at ease. "Red City is bound to have the medicine."

’It’s not worth it,’ Luo Pei thought. ’It’s not like my condition will definitely worsen.’

But before Luo Pei could speak, Xie Yu changed the subject. "While you two were intercepting the Evolution Bird Group, I had a meal with Tang Zhengsu and Tang Zheng. It’s now basically confirmed that the pair of Green Light Pangolins from the auction are in the hands of the Su Feng Team."

The scale armor of a Green Light Pangolin was one of the ingredients in the prescription Zhang San had written for Luo Pei’s residual poison. When Xie Yu heard that Green Light Pangolins were being auctioned at the Red Three Base’s Tamed Beast auction, he rushed to attend. However, he ultimately made the rational decision to give up when his opponent’s bid became too high.

For the past month, Xie Yu had been tracking the whereabouts of this pair of pangolins. The Su Feng Team, who would least want to see Luo Pei recover, was naturally at the top of Xie Yu’s list of suspects. ℯℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

So, when Tang Zheng invited Xie Yu for tea, he didn’t refuse. He deliberately chose a time when he was likely to run into Tang Zhengsu.

The classification method for human brain domain evolution is different from other Evolutionary Abilities.

Based on the degree of brain domain evolution, Brain Domain Evolvers are divided into three levels—Level 1, 2, and 3—rather than the ten-level system used for other Evolutionary Abilities. Therefore, a Level 3 Brain Domain Evolution qualifies one as a High Level Evolver.

Furthermore, Brain Domain Evolvers are also divided into five classes based on the area of brain domain evolution: intelligence, Observation, Memory, Thinking Power, and Emotion Capturing Ability. Among Brain Domain Evolvers, only a very small number have simultaneous evolution in three or more classes.

Xie Yu was a Level 3 Fourth-class of Brain Domain Evolver, with only his Memory remaining un-evolved. He could capture vast amounts of information from a subject’s movements, conversation, and subtle changes in expression. After just one meal with Tang Zhengsu, a man who loved to fight and wasn’t much of a thinker, Xie Yu had learned pretty much everything he wanted to know.

Luo Pei sighed. "Five million. The Su Feng Team really is willing to spend."

"If the auctioneers weren’t lying, five million isn’t that high. They’d make it all back just by finding a single pocket of Yi Stones." The Iron Rooster, Yang Jin, smiled shrewdly. "Send people to keep a close eye on Su Feng. We need to get our hands on those two pangolins as soon as possible. The small one for medicine, and the big one to take to the Evolution Forest to find Yi Stones."

"Alright." After agreeing, Xie Yu asked, "Ah Jin, is there something special about the spinach juice from the Third Territory?"

If it wasn’t special, Yang Jin wouldn’t have proposed trading with Xiaqing for it next month.

Yang Jin replied, "Liangzi, a Level 6 Hearing Evolver, is still lying down, feeling unwell even after taking medicine. Zhang San isn’t in the territory, and Xiaqing, a Level 7 Evolver with even more sensitive hearing, had no specific medicine for her symptoms. Yet, she’s already up and about."

Xie Yu understood. "So you think her spinach juice is even better at treating injuries from ultrasound attacks than medicine and Special Level Nutrient Liquid?"

Luo Pei agreed with Yang Jin’s assessment. "It’s possible. The water quality there is excellent."

Yang Jin ground his cigarette butt into the ashtray. "Whether it is or not, we’ll know once we trade for some and try it. Even if it isn’t, we won’t be at a loss."

"True." Xie Yu was just as shrewd in his calculations as Yang Jin. "After she harvests this crop of spinach seeds, we need to trade for a batch of seeds to plant for ourselves, no matter the price. Brother Luo, do you think that’s possible?"

Luo Pei knew Xiaqing quite well. "Xiaqing has already traded with Zhang San. If we propose a trade after this harvest, she probably won’t object. She needs weapons and trustworthy people to protect her territory."

Back in the Third Territory, Xiaqing hung up the phone, didn’t turn on her walkie-talkie, and went directly into a completely focused training mode.

’Luo Pei’s lesson was right. I’m a Level 9 Visual Evolver, holding one of the best sniper rifles in the country, but my mentality and skill don’t live up to my Level 9 Visual Evolution Ability and Top Level sniper rifle.’

’If I were just a little better, I could have killed the Evolutionary Ape-eating Eagle in one shot. Then I wouldn’t have lost my poultry, and Sheep Leader and my SVIP guest wouldn’t have been sickened and injured by the ultrasound.’

’Training requires complete concentration. Training while listening to idle chatter on the Lord channel and thinking about farming... being so half-hearted is worse than not training at all.’

After three hours of focused training, Xiaqing showered, lay down on her bed, and only then began to think about what to do the next day.

’Hu Zifeng didn’t say we were teaming up to continue the swamp-clearing mission tomorrow, so I’ll stay in the territory. First, I’ll get the cellar organized.’

The next morning, as usual, Xiaqing was woken by the chirping of the chicks and the thudding sound of them pecking at their cage. A few days ago, she’d found the noise a little annoying, but today, she was just happy to hear it.

It meant her little chicks had recovered from the ultrasound attack and had gotten their energy back.

Xiaqing went downstairs and found Sheep Leader chewing its cud with half-closed eyes, looking to be in good spirits as well. Xiaqing herself also felt much better than she had the day before.

’That spinach juice is practically a healing potion!’

Xiaqing turned on the light in the tool shed and checked on the poultry in their cages. Just as she was about to head down to the cellar to get to work, she heard a noise from the courtyard.

The Wolf Group hadn’t been knocked out by the ultrasound. They had jumped into her courtyard right on schedule, carrying their prey. But the prey they brought today was different from the last few days—it was a pair of pangolins, one large and one small.

’There are things like this in the nearby Evolution Mountain Forest? How did the Wolf Group even catch them?’

Xiaqing looked at the Head Wolf in disbelief. She found the proud wolf watching her with narrowed eyes, so Xiaqing immediately let loose a torrent of praise. "My Queen, you can even catch pangolins! You’re truly amazing! You are the most powerful Evolutionary Wolf on Blue Star, the wolf who is ushering in a new era for all of wolvenkind on Blue Star, the beautiful wolf standing at the apex of the Pyramid..."

After discovering that the Head Wolf also enjoyed over-the-top flattery, Xiaqing made sure to offer a few lines every time. After all, it was just a matter of moving her lips, and it didn’t spend points.

Only after listening did the Head Wolf pick up the smaller pangolin and place it before Xiaqing.
