The black markings across Ignia's body deepened as waves of heat poured from his scales. His crimson eyes blazed while he threw back his head and roared.

Then he surged toward Natsu and Mercphobia at terrifying speed, molten lava following in his wake.

Every volcano Ignia passed suddenly erupted. Scalding magma poured down the mountainsides and met the melting snow with a violent hiss, sending clouds of white steam billowing into the air.

He was Ignia, the Fire Dragon God.

Happy was already feeling like he was being cooked alive.

"It suddenly got way too hot..."

"I'll stop you, Ignia!"

Mercphobia raised his head and roared.

Rain immediately began pouring from the sky.

Memories surfaced in his mind—his life with Karameel and the people of Ermina, all the conversations and ordinary days they had shared, and more recently, the sight of himself sitting around a table with Raizel, Selene, and Elefseria, laughing as though there had never been any divide between dragons and humans.

Mercphobia's voice carried a trace of emotion.

"There was a time when I looked upon humans as insects too. But after living among them, I realized I was wrong."

"Humans and dragons are both simply living beings. In that regard, there is no difference between us."

Rain hammered against the mountains. Thunder rolled through the sky, and lightning flashed across the dark clouds.

Water soaked Mercphobia's scales and fur, but nothing could hide the sapphire-like determination in his eyes.

"I will never again stand by and watch a dragon tear apart a city while children cry in the ruins!"

"Mercphobia-sama..."

Far from the fighting, Karameel stood behind Mavis and stared toward the distant battlefields, where storms, explosions, and flashes of lightning illuminated the mountains.

She prayed silently for Mercphobia.

And for everyone else.

Mavis flashed her a cheerful peace sign and winked.

"Don't worry. We're definitely going to win!"

Ignia roared in contempt.

"RIDICULOUS!!!"

On one side of the battlefield, torrential rain poured from the heavens.

On the other, volcanoes erupted.

Walls of fire faced towering waves.

Flames confronted the sea.

...

Far above them, Helios's expression had become increasingly grave.

Aldoron's sudden death had caught him completely by surprise.

"To think... Four hundred years ago, humanity produced the Mother of Dragon Slayers, and now it has produced people capable of this."

Four centuries earlier, the balance in the war between humans and dragons had begun to shift the moment Dragon Slayer Magic appeared.

Raizel gave him an irritated look.

"There are plenty of things you never expected."

"If you dragons had minded your own business, none of us would have bothered with you either. But it's too late for that now."

Helios snorted.

"Ignia is right. Dragons were born to fight. Why should we seek peace? Why should dragons live according to the wishes of humans?"

"Because four hundred years ago, humans and dragons agreed to coexist," Raizel replied. "Humans possess emotions, wills, and bonds just as dragons do."

Helios roared furiously.

"We do not recognize a pact signed by disgraces who betrayed dragonkind!"

Raizel raised Ambrosius and aimed the spear directly at him.

"That's fine."

His voice remained perfectly calm.

"I don't need your approval."

"And now it's time for you to die."

Helios gave a cold snort.

His body began radiating heat like a furnace before he opened his jaws and unleashed a pillar of fire so intense that it felt like staring directly into the sun.

The specialized wings behind Examon X detached.

Caledfwlch.

Constructed entirely from Digizoid, the wings moved in front of Raizel and transformed into a massive shield.

Raizel caught it with his left hand and raised it.

Helios's blazing roar crashed against Caledfwlch.

The torrent of fire split around the enormous shield and scattered in every direction.

Helios continued breathing fire for an entire minute.

The heavens themselves seemed to tremble beneath the heat.

Only when he finally stopped did he prepare to mock Raizel.

Then his expression froze.

His eyes widened in disbelief.

"It... did nothing?!"

Caledfwlch gleamed beneath the sunlight.

Its surface was completely pristine.

Not even a scorch mark remained.

The shield separated again and returned to Examon X's back.

Helios's shock quickly twisted into anger and fear.

"No... Impossible! I am the strongest!"

His body suddenly expanded.

The injuries covering his scales began healing at astonishing speed.

His claws and fangs gleamed coldly, and his already colossal frame grew even larger until it seemed capable of blotting out the sky.

The pressure radiating from him surged dramatically.

For a moment, Helios looked as though he possessed enough power to destroy the world around him.

He and Raizel silently faced one another high above the clouds.

Helios finally smiled.

"Thank you for your arrogance."

"My condition has now returned to its peak."

Raizel looked at him without the slightest concern.

"That's it?"

Helios had undeniably become stronger.

His body was even larger than Acnologia's had been.

But the pressure he exerted still fell short of the Black Dragon.

Helios's eyes filled with fury.

He roared so violently that the sky shook.

"I'll show you whether that's all I have!"

He opened his jaws again.

Heat distorted the air as flames illuminated the heavens red.

Raizel beat his wings and shifted sideways, avoiding the initial blast.

Helios immediately turned his head and swept the fire across the sky.

Examon X's enormous body moved through the heavens like a crimson comet.

Raizel leveled Ambrosius.

An azure dragon-shaped surge erupted from the spearhead and slammed directly into Helios while he was still breathing fire.

BOOM!

The explosion interrupted his roar.

Black smoke swallowed his body.

Raizel accelerated again.

He plunged straight into the smoke with Ambrosius in hand, Magic Power coating the massive spear as its surface reflected the surrounding flames.

Then he lowered his body and rammed directly into Helios.

BANG!

The collision drove the air from the Sun Dragon God's lungs and hurled him uncontrollably out of the smoke.

Helios recovered quickly enough to spread his wings and force himself back into the air.

"Cough!"

Blood spilled from his mouth.

...

Irene's battle against Dogramag was also approaching its end.

In her crimson dragon form, Irene flew high above the mountains, her red fur streaming in the wind.

Dogramag controlled countless gigantic boulders and launched them toward her from every direction.

Irene's eyes glowed red.

"Enchant: Meteor Swarm!"

Crimson Magic Power spread across the incoming rocks.

Flames ignited over every boulder.

The sky filled with burning stones like an enormous meteor shower.

August, Wendy, and the others who had already finished their own battles looked up.

Countless flaming boulders streaked across the heavens—

then reversed course and crashed into Dogramag instead.

One after another, the meteors hammered into the Earth Dragon God.

A particularly heavy impact slammed into his back.

Dogramag's enormous body collapsed.

The ground shook violently beneath him.

Then Irene raised her head.

Her crimson eyes blazed.

"Master Enchant: Deus Sema!!!"

High above the atmosphere, an enormous meteor appeared.

Its surface burned with brilliant flames as it tore through the sky.

Irene's Master Enchant had seized the celestial body and dragged it down toward the battlefield.

The meteor blazed like a falling star, trailing fire and dazzling light as it descended with unstoppable force.

Then it struck Dogramag.

BOOOOOOM!!!

A colossal mushroom cloud erupted into the sky.

Shockwaves swept across the Vidolon Mountains.

Even Mavis and Karameel, positioned farthest from the battlefield, felt the ground shake violently beneath their feet.
