Chapter 2783: Chapter 2759: The Mysterious Elder
Chapter 2759: Mysterious Elder
One day, suddenly, a person and two beasts arrived at a village, a village larger in scale than those they had encountered before. As Lin Feng stepped into the village, he felt something different. The architecture style was unique; other villages were built with stone or wood, yet here the houses were constructed on tall trees. It reminded him of the strange old man’s residence on Shuangcheng Island in the Southern Region.
The person and two beasts continued to walk deeper into the village, noticing that the entire place was built this way—large holes were dug in the sturdy tree trunks to build houses, which was truly peculiar. The closer Lin Feng got to the center, the stronger he felt the presence of an imposing aura. This puzzled him even more; along the way, most villagers he had met were God’s Citizens with only a few Divine Beings. Yet now he felt a force similar to his own, the Force of Merit, a presence usually associated with the Divine Emperor. How could there be a Divine Emperor in such a remote wilderness?
"You have finally arrived, come in!" a voice floated down from the air. Lin Feng was certain it was speaking to him, but he was surprised. Could this Divine Emperor sense him or perhaps knew in advance he’d come? Thinking of this, he felt a bit of danger. If it were a Divine Emperor, carrying Tangyuan and Xiao Jiu would be inconvenient, so he put them away.
Alone, Lin Feng circled around a giant tree ahead and witnessed a scene that left him in awe...
In the open space, an elder with graying hair lay on a rocking chair, leisurely swaying as he rested with closed eyes in a relaxed manner. Beside the elder was a wooden tea table with a teapot from which faint mist rose. There was nothing strange about this, but what shocked Lin Feng was the electric fan behind the elder!
That’s right, it was an electric fan!
Lin Feng confirmed again, utterly stunned by the sight. This was something found only on Earth, definitely never seen in the Myriad Heavens Divine Realm. What was going on?
The elder opened his eyes, smiled at Lin Feng, and said, "What’s so strange? Didn’t you often use it when you were below?"
Upon hearing this, Lin Feng was even more perplexed. Did this mean the elder knew he was an Ascender? He quietly and respectfully asked, "Senior, did you come from Earth?"
The breeze from the fan blew on, but in the entire Myriad Heavens Divine Realm, there was no electricity. How the fan operated baffled him. Could it be powered by some crystal stone inside the fan?
These thoughts filled Lin Feng’s mind with even more doubts. Electric fans were a modern invention, yet this elder seemed very old. Cultivators age very slowly, and this elder must have lived countless years. In such circumstances, there could be only two possibilities: either the elder had recently returned from Earth, or a recent Ascender brought the fan and was taken by the elder. He quickly dismissed the latter thought—he’d been watching the Ascension Hall closely and hadn’t seen any Ascenders. Thus, only one possibility remained: the elder could still return to Earth.
"Why are you just standing there? Have some tea." The elder beckoned with his finger, and a chair made of a wooden stump flew to Lin Feng’s side.
Upon sitting, Lin Feng politely poured tea for the elder and asked, "Senior, have we met before?"
Thinking the elder might know ways to reach the Lower Realm, Lin Feng grew excited. He recalled the elder’s words, "You have finally arrived," wanting badly to understand their meaning. Could the elder have known he would come here all along? It was truly puzzling.
"We are meeting for the first time." The elder said calmly, having awaited this day for countless years.
"Then how do you know me?" Lin Feng was even more bewildered. He was sure he’d never seen the elder before and couldn’t think of any connection.
The elder laughed and said, "Of course I know you. I knew you hundreds of years ago."
These words left Lin Feng dazed; he’d only lived for thirty-odd years. How could the elder have known him centuries ago? He exclaimed in disbelief, "How is that possible!"
Seeing Lin Feng’s reaction, the elder understood his curiosity and patiently explained: "Hundreds of years ago, I cast a prophecy, foretelling you as well as the impending calamity in the Myriad Heavens Divine Realm. And the only one who can save us is you."
What?
Hearing this, Lin Feng was utterly stunned. Was he to save the Myriad Heavens Divine Realm? That was a massive burden, and he didn’t believe he currently had the power to do it. Despite his rapid and unimaginable growth, far beyond normal expectations, the Myriad Heavens Divine Realm was immensely powerful.
Suddenly, he recalled that in the Lower Realm, a white-haired old man had found him via prophecy, as did Geomancer Qianjue. Now this elder before him did the same. Three individuals predicted his arrival using prophecy. What kind of secret did he carry? He grew increasingly curious about the mystery of his fate, feeling that the truth was about to surface.
The elder noticed Lin Feng’s confusion and spoke to him: "I can’t fully foretell your destiny, but I can predict the future trajectory of the Myriad Heavens Divine Realm."
The reason Lin Feng was special to him was because he couldn’t foresee Lin Feng’s fate. He could divine everyone’s destiny but couldn’t see Lin Feng’s path. The prophecy showed only Lin Feng could save the Myriad Heavens Divine Realm, and only the young man before him could shoulder such a burden.
Lin Feng gazed at the elder, unsure of what to ask amidst the sudden weight on his shoulders, disconcerted. He only wanted to establish the Ascenders’ Sect so they wouldn’t suffer anymore, never intending to save the Myriad Heavens Divine Realm. He then said, "Senior, why are you so certain I’m the one?"
The elder laughed and then asked, "How is Ma Biaohu doing now?"
Upon hearing Ma Biaohu’s name, Lin Feng instantly understood. This elder was the one who sent Ma Biaohu to the Myriad Heavens Divine Realm and must know how to return to Earth. He never expected to encounter him here and excitedly inquired, "Senior, are you Ma Biaohu’s master?"
"Not a master, just gave him a lift." The elder waved his hand, took a sip of tea, and said.
"Ma Biaohu is doing well. Thank you for sending him to the Myriad Heavens Divine Cult; he has helped me greatly." Lin Feng thanked the elder and further asked, "Senior, I want to return to Earth. Is there a way?"
He knew the elder must have a way to return to Earth. Otherwise, Ma Biaohu wouldn’t have ascended, and this fan was brought from there. Evidently, the elder had returned in recent years.
"You can’t go back now." The elder softly replied, his tone carrying a hint of regret.
"Why?" Lin Feng felt a pang of disappointment at this answer. If the elder couldn’t return, he wouldn’t find any way to go back.
The elder looked at Lin Feng and said, "Alas, my lifespan is nearing its end. To go back and forth isn’t easy; I’d have to sacrifice thousands of years of life, and if I go now, I fear I may not return."
Lin Feng listened and felt helpless. He never imagined returning to Earth would demand such a sacrifice of life. Yet, he must save the Holy Wind Sect, regardless of the cost, and he asked the elder, "Senior, can you teach me the way to go back?"
Shaking his head, the elder told Lin Feng, "It’s not the time now, but I know what you’re worried about. In the short term, there won’t be any issues there because the focus of the Demon Clan is now on the Myriad Heavens Divine Realm."
Lin Feng looked at the elder, sincerely admiring these geomancers who could foresee everything, even guessing his current thoughts. But since the elder assured him, he felt reassured. As long as there was no immediate threat to Earth, he didn’t need to hurry back. Trusting the elder, he continued to ask, "Senior, did you predict all these matters?"
The elder smiled calmly and replied, "Some of it came from prophecy, and some from reality because I went to the Demon Domain."
Lin Feng was taken aback; he hadn’t expected the elder had visited the Demon Domain. Thinking of the Burial Ground City at Blood Ridge Demon Banyan, he guessed the elder might have been there. Then he asked, "Senior, have you been to Frost Highland?"
"No," the elder answered.
"Then how did you get to the Demon Domain?" Lin Feng asked incredulously. If he could learn how the elder traveled there, perhaps he could learn how the elder returned to Earth. He suddenly recalled the words left by Blood Fiend Demon Venerable at Blood Ridge Demon Banyan that the Demon Clan would surely dominate the Myriad Heavens Divine Realm, indicating the elder’s words were true.
The elder looked at Lin Feng, knowing his sharp mind was eager to uncover the way back to Earth, but all he did was for Lin Feng’s benefit. It wasn’t time for him to return yet. So he deliberately changed the subject: "After predicting the calamity of the Myriad Heavens Divine Realm, I went to the Demon Domain to investigate. I stealthily ventured deep into a continent of the Demon Clan, learned of their intent to invade the Myriad Heavens Divine Realm, and soon after you heard of the great battle."
Recalling that scene, it still vividly played in his mind. He’d been through the war, skilled in prophecy but lacking in combat prowess. To protect him, other Divine Emperors concealed him, which he regretted—unable to fight alongside them, they perished while he survived.
The consequence brought endless self-reproach; he hid himself here, never leaving for millions of years.
Lin Feng saw the elder’s eyes, sensing he was lost in memory, but remained uncertain and asked: "Why didn’t you stop them back then?"
