Extreme Almightiest Young Master
Chapter 2782 - 2758: Accumulating Merit
Chapter 2782: Chapter 2758: Accumulating Merit
How could he not want to heal them? But everyone in the village had contracted this mysterious illness, who else would treat them? Moreover, they were just a small village without the money to seek treatment in a big city. As the village chief, he felt he had failed the villagers because he lacked the ability to save them.
"You don’t need to know who I am. I can save you, but first, you must answer my question," Lin Feng said confidently as he looked at the old man.
Upon hearing Lin Feng say he could treat him, a glimmer of hope flashed in the old man’s eyes. Regardless of whether what this person said was true, he had no other choice but to grasp at straws. Could there be a worse outcome? So he nodded, signaling Lin Feng to ask his question.
"What about the others in the village?" Lin Feng asked.
"Everyone has caught this mysterious illness. Some of the elderly and children couldn’t hold on and have died," the old man said with a long sigh, ashamed. He really didn’t know what had angered the divine beings to bring such bad luck to the whole village, and he didn’t know where to find a cure.
After hearing this, Lin Feng couldn’t help but feel a wave of pity and then continued to ask, "Have you eaten anything unusual?"
This poison wasn’t caused by inhaling toxic fumes; the villagers must have inadvertently eaten something. But it doesn’t make sense that everyone in the village could have eaten the same poisonous food. What was wrong?
Upon hearing Lin Feng’s question, the old man seemed to have an epiphany and said, "I don’t know when it started, but a well appeared behind the village. Villagers used to have to fetch water from neighboring villages, but with the well, everyone was happy not to bother anymore. You reminded me: since drinking the well water, people in the village have successively felt something wrong. Could it be that there’s something wrong with the well water?"
"Where is the well? I need to take a look," Lin Feng said.
The old man pointed weakly towards the east and said, "At the far east."
Lin Feng didn’t hesitate for a moment and ran towards the direction the old man had indicated. Soon, he saw a well on an open piece of land. However, as Lin Feng looked around, he felt an unusual strangeness. Then he extended his Divine Sense, discovering that the village had no water source at all, and the water from neighboring villages couldn’t have been diverted here. What’s the deal with this seemingly out-of-nowhere well? Also, he couldn’t help but feel helpless about the villagers’ ignorance. Did they really dare to drink from a well without investigating its origin?
Thinking about this, Lin Feng slowly moved to the front of the well and looked down. But he found that there was invisible, transparent Demon Energy which became stronger as he got closer. He felt that there must be a Demon Beast in the well, and this Demon Energy was emitted by it.
Nevertheless, Lin Feng neither entered the well nor intended to act. Instead, he lifted a several-zhang-high boulder with his Yuangang and pressed it onto the well, blocking it but allowing thin strands of air to pass through. Then he closed his eyes and set a Barrier on the well. The Formation he laid would prevent the Demon Beast from escaping. He didn’t kill the Demon Beast because he didn’t want to engage in wanton killing; as long as it wouldn’t come out to harm people, it was fine.
After finishing everything, Lin Feng returned to the old man’s room. Seeing the state of the old man, he took out an Elixir from his storage and had the old man consume it. In just a moment, the old man’s complexion returned to a healthy hue, and he appeared rejuvenated.
Seeing such a change, the old man was immediately overjoyed and couldn’t stop smiling. He truly thought he was doomed to die this time. He promptly stood up, knelt down, and almost cried, saying to Lin Feng, "Thank you, Benefactor, thank you, Benefactor."
"Please, rise," Lin Feng said, supporting the old man. "Elder, how many more villagers are poisoned?"
Thinking for a moment, the old man said, "Over twenty people."
Upon hearing this, Lin Feng immediately took out a bottle of Elixir from his storage and handed it to the old man, saying, "Quickly distribute this to everyone; saving lives is urgent."
The old man never expected Lin Feng to be so generous; it was simply like the Living Bodhisattva reincarnated. He then knelt upon the ground again to thank Lin Feng.
As the old man was about to leave the house, Lin Feng called him back, saying, "In the future, you must never consume things of unknown origin."
"Mm, understood, thank you, Benefactor," the old man said and then ran out. He had to quickly distribute the medicine to the villagers. This time, salvation was at hand, and he felt incredibly fortunate to have such a Savior to rescue them.
Watching the old man leave, Lin Feng, accompanied by Tangyuan and Xiao Jiu, departed. As they exited the village, countless golden particles floated towards them, gradually converging onto Lin Feng’s body...
After leaving the village, the one-man, two-beast group continued heading west. Tangyuan was puzzled about why Lin Feng had left so quietly and asked, "Boss, why did we leave quietly? They haven’t even thanked us yet."
How could Lin Feng not know what was going on in Tangyuan’s mind? It must be thinking about eating meat again. He then gave Tangyuan a flick on the head and said, "You’re truly a foodie. Haven’t you heard about doing good deeds without seeking recognition?"
Tangyuan pouted at Lin Feng and then turned its head away, ignoring him. It hadn’t eaten meat properly for months. Was the boss going to make it and Xiao Jiu accompany him again to do good deeds and eat vegetarian? Last time it drove them crazy. Seems like reaching the Divine Emperor wasn’t that easy.
Suddenly, the trees nearby rustled, and two burly men with long knives burst out from the bushes.
Seeing the two in front of him, Lin Feng didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. These two were tall and strong, but their clothes didn’t fit at all, as if they had been robbed from someone else. They wore black scarves on their heads and held their knives awkwardly. Lin Feng didn’t speak, just watched them with interest, curious to see what they were up to.
"Ro-Ro-Robbery! Hand over the Yuan Stones! Quick," stuttered one of the burly men, pointing his knife at Lin Feng. They were lucky to bump into someone who seemed defenseless and well-dressed, likely carrying plenty of Yuan Stones.
"Right! Shut up, or we’ll kill you!" the slightly chubby man echoed. The two brothers specifically robbed people on this road, and the clothes were won just yesterday. Unfortunately, the person was so poor they only had clothes and no Yuan Stones. The thought made them angry.
Tangyuan and Xiao Jiu exchanged a glance and smiled helplessly. These two looked like fools for daring to mess with their boss. They didn’t know how they would die.
Lin Feng found it amusing and chuckled, then said, "Are you two beginners?"
Looking at how these two held their knives, he sensed that they were just Divine Beings, only capable of intimidating villagers here. He hadn’t encountered something this funny in a long time, so he decided to play along.
"Pretty boy, wha-what-what are you saying! Stop talking, give us money, or we-we’ll take o-other things!" the stuttering thief said, noticing Lin Feng wasn’t afraid of them at all, which made him anxious and more scattered in speech. Yet, he found it strange that Lin Feng showed no sign of cultivation. With just a child and a Little Beast beside him, why wasn’t he afraid? He then whispered to the slightly chubby thief, "Big brother, a-are we not f-f-fierce enough?"
Upon hearing this, Tangyuan and Xiao Jiu couldn’t help but burst out laughing. They had never seen robbers this dumb, and they were amazed that such people could even become bandits.
The slightly chubby thief saw Tangyuan and Xiao Jiu mocking them and immediately swung his knife. The knife, void of any Blade Gang, glimmered a dull gray light as it slowly swung towards Xiao Jiu...
Witnessing this, Lin Feng slightly moved his finger, and the Golden Yuan Gang on his body turned into a thread of gold, which he flicked out. The moment it touched the knife, the blade shattered into two.
"Oh no! Big brother, what happened?" the stuttering thief panicked when his brother’s knife broke, looking around to find no one else present. Just who was acting, as Lin Feng stood there without moving, which was quite strange.
The slightly chubby thief realized something was wrong, but since they had already made a move, they couldn’t just leave empty-handed. He was indeed much smarter than the stuttering thief and threatened harshly, "Don’t force our hand. We only want wealth, not to kill. Be wise and hand over the Yuan Stones quickly."
Lin Feng felt he had played enough, exchanged a look with Xiao Jiu, indicating these two weren’t worth the effort. Scaring them a bit was enough.
Xiao Jiu understood Lin Feng’s signal and instantly transformed into a black Giant Dragon spiraling in the air.
"Ah! Ah! Demon Beast..." the stuttering thief was petrified, dropping to the ground. They weren’t high-ranking, and this small village had barely seen any powerful Demon Beasts. Encountering a Great Demon was rare, and now there was a Dragon Clan member, practically scaring them out of their wits.
The slightly chubby thief also broke out in a cold sweat upon seeing Xiao Jiu’s true form. He hadn’t expected the child to transform into such a massive creature and had never seen such a Demon Beast. But he was rational and deduced that Lin Feng didn’t mean to kill them, for if Lin Feng had intended harm, he’d have acted long ago.
With this realization, he looked at Lin Feng in terror, then at Xiao Jiu, before pulling the seated stuttering thief up and fleeing in panic...
The stuttering thief shouted in fragments as he ran, "He-help! Help!"
Watching their embarrassing retreat, Xiao Jiu reverted to human form, and along with Little Tangyuan, fell to the ground laughing uncontrollably. Lin Feng also let out a light laugh...
Then, the three of them continued their journey. Along the way, they passed several villages where Lin Feng helped the villagers in need, even gifting them Elixirs. Throughout the journey, his Force of Merit continually grew, and he sensed changes in both body and spirit.
