Extra's Path: The Eternal Frost Monarch

Chapter 336: He definitely knows

  • Next Chapter

Another day.

Noah yawned as he walked toward his classroom, his hands casually tucked into his pockets. Just yesterday, he had ended up having a rather unexpected conversation with Viserra Augustus.

And what could he say about it? The conversation had started with Lyria and the misunderstanding surrounding their relationship.

Somehow, it had ended with Viserra asking him several questions about Damien. She hadn’t asked too many, but the questions themselves had been important.

For example, she had asked about the labyrinth incident, the very incident during which Noah had disappeared.

Of course, Noah hadn’t told her the whole truth.

From the way Viserra had reacted, Noah was fairly certain she hadn’t completely believed his explanation either.

She had also asked whether Damien was currently in a relationship, whether he liked anyone, what kind of personality he had, and even what sort of things he enjoyed.

At the time, Noah had simply answered carefully. But afterward, one question had remained stuck in his mind.

’Does she have a crush on Damien?’ Noah shook his head. ’No. That’s not possible.’

Viserra was the First Princess of the empire.

Damien was a commoner who had risen to become the top-ranked first-year student. There were certainly worse possibilities, but Noah couldn’t imagine that being the reason.

Besides, Viserra had explicitly told him that he could tell Damien about her questions if he wanted.

’Then there has to be another reason.’

Noah frowned slightly.

’What could she possibly want with Damien?’

He hadn’t been able to figure it out.

"NOAH!"

A loud voice suddenly broke through his thoughts. Noah blinked and turned around.

Damien was approaching him with his usual enormous grin. The moment he caught up, Damien raised a hand.

"Wassup, man?"

"Nothing much."

Noah glanced at him. "You’re early today."

Damien looked offended. "I’m early every day."

"Yeah, yeah..." Noah gave him a skeptical look. "One minute before the first class starts. That’s your definition of early?"

Damien laughed. "But today I’m more than ten minutes early."

"That’s actually unusual."

"I woke up earlier than usual today." Damien stretched his arms behind his head before suddenly remembering something.

"Oh, right. Master told me something yesterday."

"Hmm?"

Noah looked at him. "What did Instructor Morgana tell you?"

"She didn’t tell me much."

Damien’s grin widened. "She just said we’d get to hear something interesting tomorrow."

He shrugged."So let’s see what she has to say."

Noah’s curiosity immediately increased. "Of course. Now I’m curious too."

"Me too."

The two continued walking together. By the time they reached the classroom, several students were already inside.

The room was filled with the usual morning atmosphere.

Some students were chatting in small groups, while others were reviewing their notes. A few were leaning against their desks, talking about training from the previous day, while several students were still half-asleep and resting their heads on their arms.

The scrape of chairs against the floor mixed with the low hum of conversations.

Noah entered and immediately headed toward his usual seat. He chose the chair beside Lyria.

Damien sat beside him.

Lyria glanced at Noah with her beautiful pink eyes. For a brief moment, their eyes met. Then she quietly looked forward again.

Noah smiled faintly at her cute reaction.

The classroom gradually filled. One student after another entered until almost every seat was occupied.

The chatter continued for another minute.

The classroom door opened. Instructor Morgana walked inside.

The moment the students saw her, the noise began to die down.

Morgana walked to the front of the classroom with her usual calm expression and placed a few documents on the desk.

She looked across the room. "Good morning, everyone."

"""Good morning, Instructor Morgana!!!"""

The students responded almost simultaneously.

Morgana nodded. "Before we begin today’s lesson, I would like to make an announcement."

The remaining whispers immediately disappeared.

Several students straightened in their seats. An announcement from an instructor usually meant something important.

Morgana folded her hands in front of herself. "It’s regarding your second unit test next month."

A few students immediately relaxed. "Next month?"

"We still have plenty of time."

"Wait, another test already?"

Quiet murmurs spread through the classroom.

Morgana waited for a few seconds before continuing.

"Yes. You still have plenty of time. The test will be held after the middle of next month."

Several students visibly relaxed.

"However, I thought it would be better to inform you in advance so that you can prepare accordingly."

She paused.

"And unlike the first semester, this examination will not involve a practical battle or a virtual reality match."

The classroom became noticeably quieter.

Morgana continued. "This time, there will be a written examination only."

A collective groan immediately swept through the room. "What?!"

"A written exam?"

"That’s worse!"

"I’d rather fight monsters!"

A few students laughed, while others dramatically dropped their heads onto their desks.

Noah couldn’t help but smile.

Morgana remained completely unfazed.

"Considering everything that has happened over the last few months, the academy has decided that it would be more appropriate to exercise greater caution."

She looked over the students.

"So, for this particular examination, you will only need to study."

One student raised his fist.

"That’s not comforting, Instructor!"

A few students laughed again.

Morgana sighed lightly.

"I was not finished."

The laughter immediately died down. "But the more interesting announcement comes after that."

The students became attentive again.

Morgana picked up one of the documents from her desk.

"After considerable discussion among the academy staff, we have decided to resume our usual field trips."

A wave of excitement immediately spread through the classroom.

"Field trip?"

"Really?"

"Where are we going?"

"Please don’t tell me it’s dungeon!"

"Anywhere but a dungeon!"

Morgana waited for the noise to settle before continuing.

"This time, however, we have chosen a rather special destination."

The room gradually quieted.

"Rather than visiting another location within the Aurellian Empire..."

She paused deliberately.

"...your next field trip will take you to another country."

The classroom exploded.

"Another country?!"

"Seriously?!"

"Which one?"

"Is that even allowed?"

Noah’s eyebrows rose. Even he hadn’t expected that.

Morgana finally revealed the destination.

"The country we have selected is the Elven Kingdom of Elythraen."

A few students gasped. Others immediately began whispering excitedly among themselves.

"The Elven Kingdom..."

"I’ve always wanted to see elven nation!"

"Do you think we’ll meet the royal family?"

Morgana raised one hand, bringing the room back under control.

"You will be visiting the capital city."

She spoke clearly.

"Lunathiel."

The name alone caused another wave of excited murmurs. The capital of Elythraen. The heart of the elven kingdom. A place most students had only ever read about in history books.

Morgana continued.

"And before anyone asks, yes, the Queen will be present in the capital during your visit."

The room became unusually quiet.

"The Queen herself?"

"Well her home is there idiots."

"So we can see world tree?!"

Morgana gave them a small smile.

"Naturally, the royal family will have strong security measures in place. You will not need to worry about your safety."

That was supposed to reassure them. Instead, the students became even more excited.

Noah, however, wasn’t excited at all. His expression had gone completely blank.

’Fuck this.’

His instincts were screaming at him.

’Another incident is going to happen.’

He leaned back slightly in his chair and stared ahead. He had spent the past few weeks wondering when something troublesome would finally happen.

Now he had his answer.

’I actually thought the academy would avoid sending us anywhere outside the city after everything that happened. And no matter how much academy tries to keep students safe, it will be useless since that’s what story of game needed.’

And also now they weren’t merely leaving the city. They were leaving the empire.

And they were going straight to the capital of another kingdom.

Noah’s expression darkened.

One particular person immediately came to mind.

’Ken.’

His eyes narrowed.

’There’s no way this is a coincidence.’

Ken Takeane had already given Marina an Everbloom Draught. He had asked her to arrange a meeting with the Elven Queen.

And now, somehow, Noah’s class was being sent directly to Lunathiel.

’Ken knows something that going to happen.’

Noah’s fingers slowly tightened.

’Something is going to happen in Lunathiel.’

He stared at the front of the classroom while the excited voices of his classmates continued around him.
