Chapter 265: Ch-265: Devil Invasion (02)
Jack paused for a second and moved from the training area, intending to head towards the living quarters of the Executioners.
He looked around and even went inside their room, but no one was present, and he felt a sense of unease. That intensified when he went to the banquet room where everyone normally gathered and hosted feasts. The moment he neared the area, he could smell the scent of blood, and his expression changed.
"Damn it," he cursed and hurriedly ran towards the room, and what greeted him left him completely stupefied. His pupils dilated as he saw that there was a small pile of corpses, and Jack recognized many of them as Executioners.
Bang
" Damn, who did this?" Veins popped out on Jack’s forehead as he looked at the carnage in front of him, as if he still had trouble believing this was real, and stomped on the ground hard, which caused it to crack.
" Ugh, Prince Jack..." Jack’s eyes immediately snapped towards the pile of corpses and saw that an Executioner was still alive, just barely clinging to his life.
" Hey, don’t move. I will get help," Jack said, but the Executioner shook his head and said sadly, " No use, Prince. I can feel my life slipping away."
Hearing this, Jack’s jaw clenched, and he asked in an angry voice, " Tell me who did this."
The Executioner’s face contorted in anger as he said in a weak voice, but full of rage, " It was Prince Mark. He colluded with other Executioners and poisoned our food. We did not check, as we did not think they would betray us... They headed towards the prison..."
Thud
The Executioner dropped dead after saying this.
Jack was completely frozen in shock by what he heard. He could not believe his uncle Mark would stab them in the back and clenched his fist and cursed, " Just what is happening?"
Then his face turned grim, and he muttered, " I hope I am wrong, Uncle."
He then turned around and started running towards the royal prison, which housed the most dangerous and high-profile criminals.

Royal Prison
" Damn, I am too late," Jack cursed as he saw corpses lying on the ground, and then suddenly felt a chill run down his spine, but before he could react—
" Ahhh!" Jack screamed in pain as he felt his arm getting severed. After a few minutes, he looked up, and his pupils contracted as he shouted when he recognized a former captive, " Silent Reaper!!!"
" Ho, ho, I am still famous after so many years. I have not seen you before. You must be a new addition," the Silent Reaper said as he sized up Jack.
" How did you escape?" Jack said with certain dread, as he could already feel he was going to hate the answer.
" Haha, it was a royal member," the Silent Reaper said as Jack closed his eyes in pain.

Flashback
A few hours ago, Royal Prison.
Every cell contained the most vicious criminal in the entire kingdom, and for security, their whole bodies were frozen solid in ice.
" Haha, finally! Is it time? I can’t believe it. A royal family would betray their own family. I, Skeleton Reaper, will be free today..." one of the captives laughed as the ice near his head had already cracked. At first, when Mark came, he thought he was joking, but now, seeing the crack, he completely believed it.
Crack. Crack.
"Hehe, heheh." The Silent Reaper giggled with a sinister laugh that rang out as the ice holding the most vicious criminal began to crack.
After a few minutes, the ice completely shattered, and the first figure to emerge was a demon with hideous scars on its body.
Tap. Tap.
The sound of footsteps started closing in, and the grin on the demon’s face widened. "First prey."
"What was that loud sound?" a guard stationed to oversee the lowest floor said as he rushed toward the cell after hearing the sound of the ice shattering.
"What... how come—" As soon as the guard appeared, his eyes widened in disbelief when he saw someone had escaped from their bindings. This was the first time it had happened in the history of the prison, as no one—especially from the lowest floor—had ever managed to escape their restraints.
"This is bad, really bad," the guard thought with a pale face as he looked at the ice sculpture that was on the verge of breaking.
" Damn, even the Silent Reaper’s restraints are loosening." Just hearing the name Silent Reaper sent a chill down everyone’s spine. He was Tier 5, just like the King and Queen, and was the number one assassin during the reign of Alaric’s father. He had been sealed here after being defeated by Alaric’s father.
"Hey." He felt a chill run down his spine when he heard the voice and looked at the commander, his body turning cold when he saw the sinister smile on his face.
’I need to escape,’ he thought without hesitation and turned to flee and inform the others. As soon as he turned his back toward them, he felt a sharp pain, and the world turned upside down. His head was directly severed by a blade made of wind.
Crack. Crack.
"Finally free."
"Damn, my body is stiff."
"The last time I moved my body was a year ago."
"A year? I’ve been locked up here for five years for that failure. Stop complaining."
"I can’t wait to destroy this city."
The men who had finally escaped all sighed, stretched their bodies, and wore wicked smiles on their faces.
"Hey, stop fooling around. Let’s go," the commander said.
"Hmph, so you’re the commander of the mission, but are you even worthy? It would be better if I led the mission. I’ve never even seen you before; you look new. Let a veteran lead the mission," said a bulky man with strands of white hair among them.
"Heh." The commander snorted as he released his mana and asked, "Convinced?"
As he spoke, many of them fell to their knees and hurriedly said, "Convinced, convinced."
Strength was the voice of the demon race, not loyalty or seniority.
"Good. Quickly get ready. We need to get out and start," the commander said with a snort, as the others quickly got up and followed closely behind.
"What—everyone, the prisoners escaped! Quickly—" Another guard who had arrived, seeing his companion still standing there, widened his eyes upon seeing the prisoners out of their bindings and managed to shout before his head was severed.
This sound alerted the guards, and hundreds of footsteps were heard moving toward them.
"Looks like we can’t sneak out." The commander clicked his tongue, but there was a hint of excitement as he got to shed blood after such a long time in prison.
As soon as they started climbing the stairs, numerous guards poured toward them like ants attracted to sugar.
"Damn, how did they get out?"
"Hurry, attack them!"
The guards charged toward them. The commander, on the other hand, did not react. He kept walking and said, "You all deal with them. It’s beneath me to deal with insects."
"Jie jie, of course," the subordinates laughed maliciously as they charged toward the guards.
Bang. Bang.
The Silent Reaper commander calmly walked past them without looking back.
On the way to the exit, there were a few guards still stationed there while most had gone downstairs. He casually swiped his hand, and the guards’ heads rolled across the floor.
As he stood before the exit, he waited patiently for the portal to appear.
Buzz.
A shimmering red portal appeared in front of them.
"Let’s go," the Silent Reaper said as he and the others stepped through the portal.
"Did you get the item?" Mark, the mastermind, said with barely contained excitement as he saw a group of people wearing Executioner uniforms waiting for him. He was currently hiding outside the city.
"Yes, L-leader," one of the hooded figures took a few steps forward and said in a trembling voice.
Mark raised an eyebrow as he brought out a pulsating heart emitting black smoke from his storage ring. The heart throbbed with black veins, and dark mist seeped from the black lines.
"This is the heart of a Primordial Devil" Mark said as he took the heart.
"If I may be bold, Vice Leader, what is the use of this heart, Leader?" the subordinate asked in a curious voice.
"I do know but..." Mark said indifferently. He pulled his gaze away from the heart and then narrowed his eyes at the person who asked the question. " you should not ask so many questions."
"Yes, yes," one of the subordinates hurriedly said, bowing his head.
"Hmph." Mark snorted in disdain, looking at how timid they were.
Flashback End
"Get ready to die. For your grandfather’s debt, I will make you pay," the Silent Reaper said with a manic grin and raised his sword to land the killing blow.
