Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 239: Unfortunate Gale Devil

Chapter 239: Unfortunate Gale Devil

The Inferno Valley stretched for countless miles.

Although it was considered a forbidden area and few people were willing to visit it, when the entire population of the Demon World was taken into account, these few people were already more than enough.

Every day, tens of thousands of Devils would venture into the Inferno Valley.

Some of them were forced to by the circumstances, others wished to try their luck and seek a way to improve their strength to deal with their enemies, while there were even some people who entered this place unintentionally.

Among these people, though, there happened to be one who satisfied most of these three conditions.

Bang!

A loud crashing noise echoed as an object streaked through the sky and slammed on the ground, forming a pit upon its landing location.

Due to its high speed during the fall, the pit the object formed was both deep and large.

Yet, as the flames raging around the valley surged, they completely covered this place and began restoring the damage.

It didn’t take long. Only a few seconds later, the earth had recovered completely.

As it did, the object responsible for the destruction was revealed.

Surprisingly, it was not a falling item or even a comet, but rather an unknown creature.

With a humanoid shape but a body completely composed of wind elements, he looked like a puppet made of wind at best and a puff of air at worst.

“Damn it! The teleportation array must have malfunctioned! Instead of teleporting me to a safe place, it left me hanging in the sky.”, he cursed in a low voice.

“If it were not for me reacting quickly and activating my ability, such a fall would have killed me on the spot.”, he complained.

Breathing a sigh of relief, he patted his body, cleaning himself of the remains of the scattered earth.

Then, he rose to his feet and observed his surroundings.

The large number of gathered fire elements and the blazing flames immediately caught his attention.

The thing that interested him the most, though, was the extreme temperatures that made it impossible for most creatures to survive.

Although the Gale Devil had reached the peak of the Lesser Devil stage, he couldn’t help but feel a strong sense of threat.

Fire overcame wind after all.

As a being created of wind elements, the blazing flames of this valley directly “countered” him.

“Did I just leave a dangerous place just to enter another?”, the Gale Devil couldn’t help but mutter.

Subconsciously, he recalled the place of inheritance he had just exited.

“Didn’t the elders of the family claim that taking the test was absolutely safe? What is going on? Why did I end up here?”, he wondered.

Despite his doubts, though, his movements were not slow. He reached into the bag that was hanging on the left side of his waist and took a green lamp out.

With a thought of his, the lamp suddenly lit up.

A rather surprising thing soon occurred.

Facing the dimly lit lamp, the raging elements in the surroundings were suppressed and stopped rioting, while the temperature around the Gale Devil dropped rapidly.

“Fortunately, I obtained this thing from that place. Otherwise, it would have been dangerous.”, the Gale Devil patted his chest and expressed his relief.

Then, he held the lamp tightly and was about to take a tour of this place, planning to find a way to return home.

But just then, his movements halted.

When he raised his head and was about to take a step forward, he discovered that hundreds of creatures had unknowingly appeared and formed a circle around him, as if they were ready to besiege him.

These creatures were all made of flames that resembled those of the valley, while the eyes behind their squirming faces flashed with a crimson color, like a predator looking at its prey.

Immediately, the Gale Devil couldn’t help but shudder, while his heartbeat sped up.

Being surrounded by hundreds of unknown creatures was already terrifying enough.

But worst of all was the way in which they were staring at him.

Murderous intent, bloodthirstiness, and most of all, hunger—these were the emotions that the Gale Devil could see hidden within their eyes.

And without exception, the emotions were all directed at him.

For a moment, the Gale Devil had the illusion that these beings would directly pounce on him the very next second and tear him apart before devouring his remains.

He instinctively had the urge to shut his eyes and wait for incoming death.

However, as he forced himself to keep them open, he discovered something intriguing.

Although these creatures were surrounding him tightly, they didn’t choose to attack him. Instead, they stared at him intently from a distance, as if something was stopping them from approaching him.

Wanting to give it a try, the Gale Devil took a step to the side.

But before his foot could even so much as land on the ground, many traces of murderous intent shot in his direction as several consciousnesses locked onto his figure.

The Gale Devil could be certain that if he took another step, many attacks would be launched in his direction.

Sensing this, he immediately stopped his actions and took his foot back. The sharp murderous intent instantly dissolved.

Unfortunately, this didn’t make the Gale Devil’s situation any better.

He was still trapped in this place, still surrounded by these unknown beings made purely out of fire.

Just when he was trying to think of a way to get out of his current predicament, he noticed a sudden movement among the unknown creatures.

First, a few of them turned around and stared behind their backs, while only a few seconds later, the others also followed them and looked in that general direction.

The Gale Devil couldn’t understand: what was it that interested these bloodthirsty creatures so much?

It was unknown if this was a good or a bad thing, but he soon found out the reason.

A tiny black dot flashed on the horizon and grew closer at an incredible speed.

Accompanying it were many revolving flames, as well as a rising temperature that even the green lamp could hardly dispel.

When this “black dot” landed, its appearance was unveiled.

It looked roughly the same as the creatures around the Gale Devil, except that its stature was many times bigger, while the same was true for its strength.

Most importantly, the Gale Devil didn’t know if it was an illusion, but he sensed a different kind of gaze within the pair of fiery eyes staring in his direction.

For a moment, he felt as if his entire being had become see-through, as every last bit of his secrets was revealed to the other person.
