Chapter 200: The Reaction of the Founding Emperor
Chapter 200: The Reaction of the Founding Emperor
The Beast Emperor’s voice was filled with murderous intent and undisguised hatred.
It was apparent that he was planning to take his revenge on the Founding Emperor and resolve their personal feud once and for all.
Liora didn’t try to comfort the Beast Emperor. The two were merely in an alliance, and she was not planning to become its psychologist just yet.
Remaining silent, she continued watching the wave of attacking beasts with an indifferent expression.
Standing high in the sky and possessing the strength of a Lesser Devil, she had a panoramic view of everything that was happening.
Just like Eleanor believed, the total number of beasts pouring out of the wilderness was beyond common sense.
With a quick sweep of her consciousness, Liora estimated that there were tens of millions of beasts leaving the forest and attacking the Iron Armor Empire.
Most of them were just Knight Apprentices, but there were hundreds of thousands of True Knights, thousands of Great Knights, and hundreds of King of Knights beasts.
Although Liora had expected this beforehand, she was still caught off guard.
“I didn’t expect that the beast race had quietly recovered to this extent…”
“I’m afraid that even the upper echelons of the Empire would never have guessed that their enemy has gotten so powerful, completely unbeknownst to them.”
One had to know that the beasts had suffered a loss at the hands of the human race and that, after that, the King of Knights beasts had sacrificed themselves to give birth to the Beast Emperor.
But it was obvious that since then, their numbers had only gotten larger instead of dwindling.
“Is this the Beast Emperor’s confidence to attack the Empire? No. It should understand that numbers are mostly meaningless in front of strength.”
“Its source of confidence should be its personal strength, as well as its alliance with me…”, Liora muttered inwardly, wanting to see how the humans would respond.
She wasn’t kept waiting for long.
Unlike the previous riot, which took the Empire some time to react, the scale of this one was many times larger and obviously attracted more attention.
The upper echelons of humans immediately noticed the beasts’ movements.
And they chose to act quickly.
In Liora’s senses, many powerful auras surged throughout the Empire.
Some were located at the outskirts of the Empire, but most of them originated from the Empire’s capital, where the Royal Family and most of the nobles lived.
After a momentary pause during which they seemed to have communicated, all the owners of these auras began moving.
Before the beasts could arrive at the nearby human cities, the human Kings of Knights had already arrived to stop them.
Some were men, while others were women. Some looked old while others appeared to be young.
Despite their identity and external appearance, though, they all showed the same solemn expression when looking at the beasts.
“What happened? Why did those things go crazy again? Did something happen in the wilderness?”, one of them muttered, and subconsciously cast a glance at the capital, waiting for ’that person’ to take action or, at the very least, give them an order.
This person was not the only one. The other Kings of Knights had the exact same reaction.
Unfortunately, nothing came.
The imperial palace at the center of the capital remained silent, as if that person had not noticed what was going on.
Seeing this, the Kings of Knights’ faces turned even more serious.
Looking at the menacing beasts in front of them, they couldn’t help but have a faint guess regarding their purpose.
But no matter what, they could not back down. The Empire and their families stood behind them.
At the very least, they had to contain these beasts and prevent them from causing damage to the human land.
Liora noticed that these people exchanged a brief glance with each other before taking action in unison.
Some cast Knight skills from afar, which struck the wave of beasts and killed many of them, while others unsheathed their weapons and entered the wave in person.
Either way, they all worked hard to prevent the beast wave from marching onto the Iron Armor Empire’s hinterland.
“Tsk, tsk… Humans are still so stupid. Trying to do things that they should know are impossible.”, Liora heard the Beast Emperor’s mocking words before it waved its right hand.
Immediately, the Kings of Knights beasts followed its commands.
They showed a surprising amount of intelligence and gathered together before attacking the defending humans who were trying to stop their march.
The brief success that the humans achieved crumbled at once.
The number of the King of Knights beasts was far greater than that of humans.
Multiple beasts besieged a single person, making it difficult for them to contend, much less have the time to stop the riot.
The Beast Emperor was not satisfied with just this.
As if it were angry that the Founding Emperor did not come to face it, it chose to take its fury out on these powerless humans.
It raised its hand and then brought its palm down, striking at one of the Kings of Knights from afar.
Though the two were far apart and the Beast Emperor’s attack was casual, its strength was overwhelming.
The King of Knights human coughed a mouthful of blood and was sent flying, unable to sense who or what had attacked it.
Before this person could react, the beasts around them had pounced on them and torn their body apart, eating them alive.
“Hehehe! That’s good! Good!”, the maniacal laughter of the Beast Emperor echoed when it heard the painful screams, as if it were finally satisfied with the scene before it.
Then, it looked ready to strike once again.
But just when it had raised its hand and was about to bring it down, its laughter ceased all of a sudden.
In unison, both Liora and the Beast Emperor turned their attention to the capital. Or to be more accurate, to the imperial palace.
They could both sense that something was awakening deep within it.
