Chapter 192: Birth
Chapter 192: Birth
“What a terrifying race. Compared to the Zerg, Devils can be considered kind. After all, Devils simply leave the world in ruin most of the time. Still, the world is alive and may recover.”
“On the other hand, not only do Zerg bring destruction, but they also want to devour the world itself…”, Liora couldn’t help but think.
After a couple of seconds, she shook her head and returned to reality. Her gaze focused on the mural in front of her once again. But this time, she placed even more value on the images.
Although the information regarding the Zerg had solved most of her doubts, there were still some questions that needed answers.
On the side, the blurry creature did not know that Liora had already recognized the woman’s identity and had even learned additional information regarding her and her race.
Seeing that she stayed before the wall for a few seconds, this person merely thought that she didn’t recognize the creature within the gap and didn’t understand what was going on.
“See that woman? She is the ’God’ that those stupid humans like to pray to. I like to refer to her as the Outsider. Two centuries ago, this woman arrived in our world and attacked it.”, it said, and continued:
“Fortunately, the world itself was able to withstand her attack. After a fierce confrontation, the world managed to exile her into its deepest space, sealing her completely.”
Saying this, this person pointed to the scene of the Zerg bestowing the Godheads to the excited humans.
“But through some means, that Outsider still found a method to communicate with reality. At the first opportunity, she gifted those damn traitors these things, allowing them to bring chaos in our world!”
For the first time, the creature displayed surprising amounts of emotion. It gnashed its teeth in anger, as if unable to contain its fury.
It seemed that not only did it loathe humans for the war they waged against beasts and the bloodshed they caused, but also because they betrayed their own world.
Hearing its words, Liora nodded her head to show that she understood. She then stepped forward and continued looking at the following murals.
The gap in the sky closed shortly after, and according to this creature’s explanation, the woman returned to her cage, powerless to infiltrate reality.
But having obtained the Godheads and having increased their combat power, the humans’ war on the beasts grew increasingly more violent.
They slaughtered them, devoured their flesh and blood to enhance their power, and took their cubs as captives, using them as resources for their advancement.
In just a few murals, the once sunny and lively forest had turned bloody. Its atmosphere had grown eerie and full of sharp murderous intent, while its size had grown many times smaller.
From completely covering the continent not long ago, it now covered less than half. The other half had been given to the humans, who chose to establish an Empire.
“Although there were many King of Knights beasts among us, we were still unable to keep up with the humans’ advance. Not only because of their natural advantages, but mainly because of that Outsider’s help…”
The creature had become calm once again.
It continued explaining everything to Liora in great detail, as if it were happy to do so. Perhaps it was the first time that it had someone to say these things, or perhaps it already regarded Liora as one of its own and was willing to share everything.
During its explanation, Liora grew increasingly knowledgeable about the events that took place at that time.
She walked forward, ready to look at the next mural, only to discover that this one was completely different.
Apart from the Zerg’s infiltration into reality, all the previous murals had been depicting the war between humans and beasts. But this one showed a group of beasts gathered in a dark underground cave.
Though it was only an image, Liora seemed to witness a meeting between them.
“We were at a massive disadvantage. If nothing changed, it was only a matter of time before we went completely extinct. Similarly, once the beasts disappeared and the humans ruled over the continent, that Outsider would break free.”
“It was during that time that one of us devised and suggested a grand plan.”, the creature said.
“If all the beasts that have become Kings of Knights band together and willingly sacrifice their own lives, a new creature can be created. It will be stronger than them, far more powerful, far more intelligent, and far more adaptable to the extraordinary circumstances.”
“Most importantly, that creature will carry on with their will! It will surely work hard and do everything in its power to help the beasts and this world survive!”
In the murals, some of the beasts agreed with the proposal while others opposed it. But in the end, the ones in agreement were more.
There was no hesitation from those who were opposed to the idea. They chose to follow the opinion of the majority.
Together, all the beasts sacrificed themselves and activated a strange ceremony.
Their bodies exploded, their flesh evaporated, while their souls were damned to never reincarnate.
But in their place, a new creature had been born.
It possessed a humanoid appearance and had certain characteristics of all the King of Knights beasts, while it was surrounded by bright lights that concealed its true identity.
Clearly, this being was the creature that had led Liora to this place and shown her these murals. But although this was an unexpected revelation, Liora was not shocked to learn this.
She knew that this was a low-level world after all. To give birth to a being so powerful, there were bound to be extraordinary circumstances.
The merging of a large number of powerful beasts was one of them, and was in fact one of the least surprising explanations.
The mural depicting the illusory silhouette’s birth was the final one of them. By now, Liora had reached the end of the corridor, arriving before an open stone gate.
However, she didn’t rush to step inside. Instead, she turned around and looked at the illusory being before asking:
“I am quite curious…”
