Chapter 300: Chapter 300: No More Acting, Showdown

"Sister Yue Yao, what’s wrong? Are you okay?"

Yun Sheng immediately put on a show of anxious concern, her voice brimming with worry. She reached out as if to help her up, but her movements were highly strained. "Sister Yue Yao, can you stand up by yourself? I... I’m having a hard time over here and can’t help you. I’m sorry." Her tone was urgent and apologetic, as if she truly blamed herself for being unable to assist.

Lin Yueyao had hit her head hard. Her vision darkened in waves as a dull ache throbbed at her temple. Hearing Yun Sheng’s "thoughtful" words, the irritation in her heart flared up like a fire doused in gasoline. Leaning against the wall, she gasped for air and glared at Yun Sheng, her eyes filled with resentment and fury—though she quickly suppressed it.

"Just now... didn’t you feel a different kind of spiritual power?" Lin Yueyao gritted her teeth, keeping her voice very low. Her gaze was locked onto Yun Sheng, refusing to miss even the slightest change in her expression.

Yun Sheng blinked, looking utterly bewildered and confused. "What different spiritual power? What is Sister Yue Yao talking about? I didn’t feel anything at all." She paused, then added, "But Sister Yue Yao, what exactly happened to you just now? Even if you were attacked by Lin Hao’s spiritual power when you came in, you had already moved to the side. How could you not even stand steady?"

Yun Sheng delivered the most cutting words in the most innocent tone imaginable.

Lin Yueyao’s face paled, then turned ashen. It had only been a feeling just now; the surveillance cameras wouldn’t have captured anything, and the spiritual power monitoring equipment likely wouldn’t show any anomalies either. Continuing to press the issue would only make her look like she was being unreasonable and shirking responsibility. Biting her lip, she dug her nails into her palms and kept her voice suppressed. "It’s nothing. I was just careless. I lost my focus for a moment and lost my footing."

Yun Sheng let out an "Oh" and nodded lightly, her tone carrying a touch of "understanding" consideration. "Then you should be careful, Sister Yue Yao. I might not be able to look out for you in a moment. Lin Hao’s spiritual power is gradually stabilizing. It shouldn’t be long before he’s fine..." After saying this, she lowered her head and continued guiding Lin Hao.

Lin Hao’s spiritual power grew increasingly stable. The violent, turbulent aura gradually subsided, making the atmosphere in the entire room much more comfortable than before. Even the jumping lines on the monitors leveled out. Lin Yueyao watched all this, a trace of complex emotion flashing through her eyes. She never expected that Yun Sheng could actually stabilize Lin Hao. She was a B-level Guide who didn’t even have a spiritual body! How could she accomplish something that even an S-class Guide like her couldn’t do?

"Yun Sheng, your spiritual power truly is special. Xiao Hao’s condition is so severe that even I couldn’t guide him. I didn’t expect you to actually succeed." Lin Yueyao’s voice carried a hint of surprise and admiration, as if she were offering genuine praise, yet the look in her eyes remained freezing cold. These words weren’t just for Yun Sheng; they were primarily meant for the people watching from the observation room.

Yun Sheng’s gaze darkened slightly, but her face maintained that same innocent and clueless expression. She looked up and cast a glance at Lin Yueyao. "Sister Yue Yao, I don’t think my spiritual power is special. After all, I didn’t really do anything, and Lin Hao’s spiritual power just stabilized on its own." She tilted her head as if in deep thought, then suddenly paused, looking hesitant. "Speaking of which, could it be that earlier, you..." Yun Sheng deliberately stopped there, swallowing the rest of her sentence. She made it seem as though she couldn’t bear to say it, or perhaps didn’t know if she should.

In the observation room, everyone’s eyes were glued to the surveillance screens.

An older doctor pushed his glasses up and whispered to his colleague, "The spiritual power monitoring screen indeed shows no abnormal fluctuations from Miss Yun’s spiritual power, nor from Young Master Lin’s. Just like she said, it seems she really didn’t do anything special."

Another doctor nodded in agreement. "Yes, Young Master Lin’s spiritual power appears to be slowly calming down on its own. Miss Yun only played a guiding role."

"Then why couldn’t Miss Yue Yao guide him successfully before? Isn’t she an S-class Guide?" someone murmured softly.

Because Lin Yueyao was an S-class Guide and her initial attempt to guide Lin Hao had failed, the hospital hadn’t dared to rashly bring in other guides to try. Lin Zhenye had also acted on her advice when he went to the Tower to request an SS Level Guide. But now that a B-level Guide without a spiritual body could manage it, people naturally began to suspect why an S-Class like Lin Yueyao had failed.

Off to the side, Lin Zhenye’s face darkened, his brows knitted tightly together. Even Su Wan, watching Lin Yueyao through the surveillance screen, looked at her with a strange expression.

Meanwhile, inside the emergency room, Lin Yueyao’s expression grew increasingly ugly. She caught the implication in Yun Sheng’s words—it was a blatant mockery of her incompetence! She clenched her fists tightly, then slowly released them.

"Sister, you’re being modest. I know Xiao Hao’s condition better than anyone, and not just anyone could stabilize him. The fact that you did proves your spiritual power is truly unique. Once Xiao Hao wakes up, I’ll definitely make him thank you properly." Even as anger roiled in her heart, Lin Yueyao maintained a facade of gratitude toward Yun Sheng, continuing to emphasize the uniqueness of her spiritual power.

Yun Sheng shot her a look, the corners of her lips curving up ever so slightly before quickly flattening out. "You’re making too much of it, Sister Yue Yao. Lin Hao is my younger brother too; saving him is only right."

She continued her guidance as she spoke. It wasn’t long before Lin Hao’s spiritual power stabilized completely, showing not a single trace of volatility.

Yun Sheng let out a long breath and wiped the sweat from her forehead, a hint of exhaustion crossing her face. "Sister Yue Yao, I’m going out to rest for a bit. Please keep an eye on things here." Turning around, she headed for the door.

Stepping out of the emergency room, Yun Sheng didn’t head toward the observation room; instead, she walked down the opposite end of the corridor. Rapid footsteps echoed behind her—it was Lin Yueyao. She practically chased after Yun Sheng, following her all the way to a corner of the hallway hidden from the cameras.

"Sister Yun Sheng, aren’t you going to see Mom and Dad? Where are you going to rest?" Her voice drifted from behind, sounding somewhat urgent yet deliberately hushed, as if she were suppressing something.

Yun Sheng halted and turned around. Seeing Lin Yueyao’s anxious demeanor, a cold gleam flashed in her eyes. She answered deliberately, "I’m tired. I want to go home and rest."

Lin Yueyao’s face instantly shifted, and she instinctively blurted out, "No!"

The moment the word left her mouth, she realized she had sounded too desperate and hastily softened her tone. "Sister Yun Sheng, you just finished guiding Xiao Hao. Your body is still weak, and it’s not safe to go back alone. Besides, Mom and Dad are still waiting in the observation room. You should at least go tell them so they know you’re alright and can put their minds at ease."

Lin Yueyao’s reasoning was perfectly sound, but the look in her eyes as she stared at Yun Sheng remained freezing cold.

Yun Sheng looked at her and suddenly gave a soft chuckle. The laugh was light, yet carried an indescribable nuance. "Lin Yueyao, there’s no one else here. You don’t have to keep acting. You chased after me because you’re afraid I’ll leave the hospital, aren’t you? Tell me, what exactly do you want to do?"
