Chapter 369: Chapter 229: Returning to Yujing City Again
"If it’s him, then we have a problem."
Hui Hengwu said grimly, "Black Robe is one of the Experts of Shape-Shifting in the Court Sacrificial Department. His strength has only just reached the Transformation realm, but the man is secretive, ruthless, and vicious."
"Yes, the main problem is that he’s stubborn and difficult to deal with. But don’t you worry. Since he’s the one who took your man, I’ll have a word with the Court Sacrificial Department and make him return him to you!"
Fang Yue felt a little more at ease after hearing Hui Hengwu’s words.
He knew that Hui Hengwu held a high position in the Observatory and also had connections to the Court Sacrificial Department. If Elder Hui stepped in to mediate, the matter could likely be resolved.
"Thank you, Elder Hui," Fang Yue said gratefully.
’He’s already doing me a huge favor by stepping in.’
’After all, Black Robe is a Tributor of the court and an Expert of Shape-Shifting. No ordinary person would risk offending such a master for my sake.’
’My own cultivation is only equivalent to the late stage of Qi Sensing. Even though my combat prowess is formidable enough to challenge an Innate Grandmaster, and most Innate Masters are no match for me...’
’...it’s still a far cry from the Transformation realm.’
’So, it’s obvious who holds more weight.’
’The fact that Hui Hengwu is willing to help is truly remarkable. He really considers me one of his own.’
After thanking him repeatedly, Fang Yue left Yujing City and returned to Wutu City.
He hadn’t been back in over a year. He wondered how his family was doing.
Fang Yue’s heart was filled with anticipation and a bit of nervousness. He had been away from Wutu City, away from his family, for more than a year.
During this time, he had experienced many life-and-death trials, and his strength had greatly improved, but he had never forgotten his roots and his family.
During his days away, he often thought of his parents’ kind faces, his younger sister’s innocent smile, and that small but warm and loving home.
In the dead of night, when moonlight streamed across his bed, he would silently pray for his family’s well-being.
Now, he finally had the chance to return to Wutu City, to that place that haunted his dreams.
’He wondered if his family still thought of him, if they were still there waiting for him.’
But his heart was filled with anticipation and hope.
When the silhouette of Wutu City gradually appeared in his line of sight, Fang Yue’s heartbeat involuntarily quickened.
He felt like a child again, eagerly rushing home after a long journey.
He took a deep breath to quell his excitement, then began walking toward Wutu City.
Each step felt heavier than usual, for he wasn’t just crossing a physical distance, but a chasm of time and emotion.
Finally, as the sun was setting, Fang Yue stood before his own front door.
An indescribable wave of emotion washed over him as he stared at the familiar wooden door.
He reached out and knocked gently on the door.
"Who is it?" A familiar voice came from inside. It was his mother’s.
"Mom, it’s me, Zhi’Er!" he shouted excitedly.
The door creaked open, and his mother appeared in the doorway. She looked a little older, but the loving gentleness in her eyes hadn’t faded one bit.
"Zhi’Er!" his mother cried out in surprise, then hugged him tightly. "My Zhi’Er, you’re finally back! I’ve missed you to death!"
Fang Yue’s eyes grew moist.
He hugged his mother back tightly, as if to pour all the longing and guilt of the past year into this embrace.
"Mom, I’m home," he said, his voice choked with emotion.
At this moment, he had finally returned home, returned to that place full of love and warmth.
He knew that no matter where he went, no matter what storms and challenges he faced, this place would always be his harbor and his home.
"Mom, I’m sorry for making you worry," Fang Yue said guiltily. "I’ve been a terrible son, staying away for so long without visiting."
"As long as you’re back, that’s all that matters. As long as you’re back."
His mother smiled through her tears. "Oh, and that father of yours... He’s always home, never doing anything productive, but of course, on the one day our Zhi’Er comes back, he’s out and hasn’t returned yet. Never mind him. I’ll make you your favorite dishes."
A short while later, his father returned. He froze for a moment upon seeing Fang Yue, then broke into a wide, happy smile.
"Haha, Zhi’Er, you’re back! It’s so good to have you back!" his father said, laughing until his own eyes grew moist.
Soon, it was time for dinner.
"Mom, where are my brother and sister-in-law? And my little sister?"
’I didn’t see my brother, sister-in-law, or younger sister earlier. I just figured they were out on an errand, but they’re still not here for dinner.’
Fang Yue found it strange and immediately asked.
"Oh, about six months ago, your brother found some work in the city. He’s helping run a shop now," Ms. Chen said. "It’s a clothing store, and business is quite good, so your sister-in-law and your sister went to help out too. They don’t come home very often these days."
Fang Yue nodded at his mother’s explanation, feeling a wave of emotion.
He remembered that when he’d left Wutu City, his brother, Fang Cheng, hadn’t had any work, and his sister-in-law had been a homemaker.
He never thought so much could change at home in just over a year.
His brother had found a new livelihood, and his sister-in-law and younger sister had gone to the city to help. The whole family was working hard to make a living.
"Mom, I’ll go see them tomorrow, then," Fang Yue said.
"Good, you go see them tomorrow, and let them know you’re back," his mother said with a smile.
