Chapter 362: Chapter 226: Eerie Demon Fiend (2)
Fang Yue and Lin Wan’Er followed the direction Xiaohong was pointing and saw a hidden compartment in the corner of the wall, which seemed to contain something.
Fang Yue cautiously walked over and reached out to open the compartment. A thick, foul, bloody stench assaulted his nostrils. The compartment held a dripping, bloody heart!
"This is..." Lin Wan’Er covered her mouth, staring at the heart in horror.
Fang Yue’s brows knitted together as he picked up the heart to examine it closely. It seemed to be faintly beating, and it radiated an unsettling energy.
"This is a human heart," Fang Yue said gravely. "It seems there really is something wrong with this village."
He placed the heart back in the compartment, his resolve to uncover the village’s secret hardening.
Just then, something unexpected happened!
A Black Shadow suddenly shot out from the corner, pouncing toward Fang Yue. Its speed was astonishing, and it appeared before him in an instant.
Fang Yue reacted in a flash. He thrust out his palm, and a massive surge of Primordial Qi erupted, blasting the Black Shadow away.
The Black Shadow crashed to the ground with a piercing shriek. Seizing the opportunity, Fang Yue charged forward, ready to annihilate it completely.
However, just as he moved, the Black Shadow dissolved into a wisp of dark smoke and seeped into the wall behind it.
Fang Yue’s gaze sharpened. Moving like a flash of lightning, he was instantly before the wall. He placed his palm against the surface, and a torrent of powerful Primordial Qi surged from his body, attempting to force the Black Shadow out.
The wall trembled slightly before revealing a deep, dark cavern.
His eyes like torches, Fang Yue stared into the gloomy cavern as a strong sense of unease washed over him.
He knew the Black Shadow was hiding within the cavern, and that this was likely the source of the village’s secrets.
"You two wait out here. I’m going in to take a look," Fang Yue said, turning back to Lin Wan’Er and Xiaohong.
Though frightened, Lin Wan’Er and Xiaohong knew they couldn’t get in Fang Yue’s way. They nodded in agreement. "Alright. Be careful."
Fang Yue took a deep breath, composed himself, and then cautiously stepped into the cavern.
The cavern was pitch-black, so dark you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face.
He found that the cavern walls were smooth as glass and that the passage twisted and turned, seemingly without end.
Fang Yue remained on high alert, knowing that something must be hidden here. He advanced along the passage, his senses sharp.
Suddenly, an eerie, spine-chilling sound echoed from up ahead. Fang Yue quickened his pace and soon arrived at its source.
A massive chamber opened up before him, filled with strange sacrificial offerings and totems.
Within this chamber, more than thirty people lay scattered in disarray.
They were men and women, old and young, and clearly the residents of the village. Fang Yue was sure of it because, among them, he spotted the old man from before!
The villagers weren’t dead, but from their appearance, they had clearly been subjected to some kind of Evil Technique that had drained them of their life force.
Fang Yue’s heart was anything but calm as he took in the scene.
Although the villagers were still breathing, their faces were paper-white and their eyes vacant, as if their souls had departed. Their bodies were withered and emaciated, as though every drop of vitality had been siphoned away.
’What kind of Evil Technique is this? It’s utterly vicious!’ Fang Yue thought.
Here, however, Fang Yue was also able to sense that peculiar Primordial Qi.
Fang Yue scanned his surroundings, searching for any trace of the person who had cast this Evil Technique.
However, aside from the villagers, there was no one else in the chamber.
Fang Yue’s brows furrowed, a flicker of doubt in his mind.
’Could the one who cast the Evil Technique have already left?’
Just then, something unexpected happened!
A black mist began to rise slowly.
Fang Yue’s gaze sharpened; he immediately sensed that there was something unnatural about the black mist.
He rapidly circulated the Primordial Qi in his body, forming a protective barrier around himself as he watched the black mist warily.
The black mist gradually coalesced, finally forming into a sinister, terrifying Black Shadow. It let out a bizarre, grating cackle, a sharp and piercing sound that was utterly spine-chilling.
"What foul creature are you, that you dare wreak such havoc here!" Fang Yue roared, simultaneously releasing a powerful wave of Primordial Qi in an attempt to intimidate it.
However, the Black Shadow seemed unfazed by the wave of Primoral Qi. Instead, it let out an even more brazen cackle. "Heh heh heh, another sacrifice delivered right to my door! Your body is truly perfect. How wonderful!!!"
The Black Shadow’s cackle echoed through the cavern, chilling him to the bone. Fang Yue stared intently at the creature, a powerful sense of vigilance and hostility rising within him.
He knew this Black Shadow was the culprit behind the village’s strange phenomena—the same malevolent entity that had plundered the villagers’ life force.
"I don’t care what kind of Demon Fiend or monster you are. Running into me today is the end of your luck!" Fang Yue said coldly, already channeling the Primordial Qi in his body as he prepared to fight the Black Shadow.
The Black Shadow seemed in no hurry to attack. It chuckled sinisterly. "You’ve got a big mouth, kid. But do you really think you can stand against me with your meager strength? How naive!"
As it spoke, the Black Shadow thrust out a withered arm, reaching for Fang Yue. Black mist swirled around the limb, radiating a powerful, evil aura.
Fang Yue dared not be careless. He instantly channeled the Primordial Qi in his body to launch a counterattack.
Primordial Qi enveloped his body. Fang Yue then launched his attack on the Black Shadow. His Qi and blood surged, and a searing heatwave instantly erupted from him.
