Chapter 135: Chapter 129: Blood Weapon

Tan Hu shook his head without the slightest hesitation. "Absolutely not. The person who can refine a blood artifact like that is no ordinary figure. I have no desire to go looking for death." He paused, then suddenly said, "However, if Steward Tong were here, it might be a different story."

Luan Jian frowned, waving a dismissive hand. "It’s just a single blood artifact. The Steward is still recuperating; we shouldn’t disturb him."

’Still recuperating?’

’Could Luo Fang really have injured him that badly?’

Tan Hu’s eyes glinted. A suspicion began to form in his mind, but he couldn’t be sure.

After a few moments of thought, Luan Jian instructed the short cultivator beside him, "You’re skilled in stealth. Stay here and monitor the Power Demon Sect. If they make a move, crush the Communication Mark at once."

"Yes." The short cultivator’s expression remained unchanged as he nodded.

"Let’s go."

Luan Jian glanced at the crevice in the canyon, then turned and strode away.

Tan Hu and the others followed him, departing as well.

The short cultivator surveyed his surroundings, then leaped lightly onto a massive tree. Forming a hand seal for a Technique, he sent out a nearly undetectable ripple of Spiritual Power as his body slowly merged into the tree trunk.

Inside the canyon.

The blood in the pool had dried up, and the dense, bloody mist swirling overhead was slowly dissipating.

Demonic beasts, their bodies corporeal and their auras vicious, floated in mid-air. Their savage gazes looked down upon the members of the Power Demon Sect, as if ready to pounce at any moment.

Seated cross-legged beneath the totem, Congli wore a solemn expression. He circulated his Qi Blood, sliced his palm open, and pressed it against the totem’s restrictive seal.

BUZZ...

The totem quivered, and a massive suction force suddenly erupted from it.

UGH...

Congli’s face instantly went pale, and he let out a muffled groan. The Qi Blood in his body surged into the totem like a river bursting its dam.

As his Qi Blood poured in, runes on the totem’s surface lit up one by one. The runes linked together, slowly revealing nine bright, complex seals.

The moment the seals lit up, the suction force emanating from them vanished.

Congli lowered his palm and took a deep breath. He focused on his connection to the Blood Soul Record, and with a mere thought...

ROAR...

The spiritual light of the seals flared violently as a long, low roar rang out.

As if summoned, the dark-red demonic beasts merged into the totem one by one, forming a single, twisted bestial shadow. When the final three massive demonic beasts had been absorbed, a surging pillar of bloody light shot toward the sky, and a monstrous, vicious pressure instantly erupted outward.

Zuo Ling and the large man in tattered armor were forced back a dozen steps, their breathing growing heavy.

RRRIP...

The Blood Soul Record tore itself away from the cylindrical totem, transforming in mid-air into a beige-colored scroll several zhang wide.

Congli’s expression shifted as he felt his connection to the artifact being worn away by its ferocious aura. He marshaled the Qi Blood in his body, opened his mouth, and spat a glob of essence blood onto the Blood Soul Record.

As the essence blood fused with it,

the Blood Soul Record’s aura slowly receded. It finally transformed into a scroll about a meter wide and fell into his hands.

Phew...

Congli breathed a sigh of relief. Despite his pale face, he couldn’t conceal his delight.

"Congratulations, Senior Brother, on successfully refining a high-grade blood artifact."

Zuo Ling and the large man in tattered armor stepped forward and clasped their fists.

Congli nodded and commanded, "Make your preparations. We leave in four hours!"

With that, he took out a pill and swallowed it, then began circulating his Cultivation Technique to replenish his lost Qi Blood.

"Yes."

Zuo Ling and the large man in tattered armor exchanged a look, clasped their fists, and assented.

Zuo Ling went to organize the Power Demon Sect disciples, while the large man resumed treating his wounds.

「Four hours passed quickly.」

Congli slowly opened his eyes. His gaze fell upon the more than one hundred disciples standing before him, and a savage grin spread across his face. He roared, "Our destination: the Cyan Yang Sect’s Spiritual Land!"

"Kill!"

The eyes of the Power Demon Sect disciples burned with fervor as they roared in unison.

A Spiritual Land was a juicy prize, and a Spiritual Land belonging to the Cyan Yang Sect was the juiciest of them all!

Congli nodded, satisfied. He waved his hand and bellowed, "Move out!"

The words had barely left his mouth when he leaped several zhang in a single bound. A few more leaps, and he was inside the canyon’s crevice.

Some of the others erupted with Qi Blood, striding to keep pace, while others used their own blood to conjure flying birds and beasts to ride.

Outside the canyon.

The short cultivator hidden within the tree felt the ground tremble. Before he had time to process it, he saw a bare-chested giant of a man, nearly three meters tall, leap out of the canyon crevice and head straight for the Ring Mountain Spiritual Land.

He was followed by a stream of powerfully built men, all leaping from the crevice and striding after him.

"They’re..."

The short cultivator snapped back to his senses, horrified. ’They’re going to attack the Spiritual Land?’

The moment the thought occurred, he quickly pulled out a jade token and crushed it. A faint ripple of Spiritual Qi spread outward.

In mid-air, Zuo Ling, seated atop a dark-red falcon, watched a round bead tremble in his hand. The corners of his mouth slowly stretched into a grin.

「A Cup of Tea’s Time passed.」

The short cultivator emerged from the tree, his gaze sweeping the area. Just as he was about to leave, a mocking voice sounded in his ear,

"Still thinking of leaving?"

The short cultivator’s body went rigid. A jade-green protective barrier instantly covered him.

But before he could make another move, a sharp pain lanced through his head. The spiritual light covering his body shattered, the light in his eyes faded, and his body slammed onto the ground.

He never even knew where his killer was before his consciousness faded completely.

A hole pierced the center of his brow, trickles of blood oozing from the wound.

Zuo Ling landed lightly on the ground, sneering with disdain, "Nothing special after all."

A three-inch-long spike, deep red and smooth as jade, floated beside him.

It was called the Godfall Thorn, a vicious mid-tier blood artifact.

After looting the spoils, Zuo Ling used the Godfall Thorn to drain the short cultivator of all his Qi Blood and Spiritual Power. He then mounted the dark-red falcon and flew off in pursuit of Congli’s group.

「Meanwhile.」

Luan Jian, who was rushing through the mountain forest, came to an abrupt halt. He flipped his hand over, revealing two jade tokens. His expression changed drastically when he saw they were covered in cracks.

The two Demon Hunting Team captains behind him saw the tokens and their faces filled with horror. "Junior Brother Ji is dead!"

Luan Jian put the tokens away and waved his arm, shouting, "Hurry! The Power Demon Sect is coming."

No longer concerned about demonic beasts, the four of them erupted with Spiritual Power and raced toward the Ring Mountain Spiritual Land.

「By the time night fell.」

The four returned to the Ring Mountain Spiritual Land. Luan Jian took the other two captains straight to the Demon Hunting Corps’ headquarters, while Tan Hu flew toward the Ten Thousand Snake Lake Island.

Back at the Demon Hunting Corps headquarters,

Luan Jian had no time to explain to Mingzhuang. A powerful surge of Spiritual Power erupted from him as he roared, "Assemble."

The Demon Hunting Corps Cultivators in the headquarters heard the summons. Their expressions shifted, and they hurried toward the main hall.

As they gathered, Luan Jian quickly explained the situation to Mingzhuang.

Mingzhuang’s expression grew grim. "When will they arrive?"

"I don’t know, but they will be here within six hours at the most."

After speaking, Luan Jian took out a Sound Transmission Jade Token and whispered a few words into it.

But after a few moments, the jade token remained silent.

Disappointment flickered in Luan Jian’s eyes. He put the token away and, along with Mingzhuang, led the members of the Demon Hunting Corps toward the center of the Ring Mountain Spiritual Land.

The Ring Mountain Spiritual Land was surrounded by sheer cliffs, so they had no idea where the Power Demon Sect would attack from. Their only option was to wait in the center.

The Demon Hunting Corps’ movements attracted the attention of the Spiritual Land’s Spirit Farmers. Steward Ye of the Spirit Field Hall was soon informed. He went to the Demon Hunting Corps’ position, and after a few questions, he immediately began to organize the Spirit Farmers.

Meanwhile, Tan Hu’s streak of light landed in a small courtyard.

He saw Li Changsheng eating a meal in the courtyard.

Tan Hu strode forward and said urgently, "Junior Brother, pack your things. I’m taking you away from here for a while."

Hearing this, Li Changsheng’s expression changed. Without asking why, he put down his bowl and chopsticks and headed upstairs.

He put away Xiaobai, the Snake Saliva Spirit Tree, and the Insect Mother. Then, returning to the courtyard, he placed Xiaohua’s family of four and the insect swarm into his Spirit Beast Bag.

Just as he was about to enter the beast pen,

a furious roar echoed throughout the Ring Mountain Spiritual Land. "Tong Zuo! Where are you!"

"Charge!"

"Haha, so many acres of Spirit Fields! What a bountiful harvest this will be!"

"Don’t kill the Spirit Farmers! They’re worth a good number of Spirit Stones."

A series of roars echoed one after another.

Tan Hu’s expression changed instantly. He summoned a gale of wind that enveloped Li Changsheng, and they shot off toward the northern hills.

Upon reaching the edge of the Ring Mountain Spiritual Land, Tan Hu settled him in an inconspicuous cave. After hastily concealing the entrance, he departed in a rush.

Li Changsheng surveyed the small space, and with a mere thought,

BUZZ...

the insect swarm appeared inside the cave. They slowly flew to the entrance and clung to the walls. He then released the four poisonous beasts, hiding them beneath the dead branches and fallen leaves near the cave mouth.

Once that was done,

Li Changsheng sat on a rock, his gaze fixed on the entrance, chanting inwardly, ’Please, don’t let them find me...’
