Chapter 134 - 129: Blood Artifact
Chapter 134: Chapter 129: Blood Artifact
As time went on, the big man’s pace grew slower and slower. His aura had fallen to the Qi Cultivation Stage, and his body had visibly shrunk by a size.
If not for the terrifying, vicious aura emanating from him, his journey would not have been so smooth.
Just as he was passing through the dense forest, the sound of heavy footsteps suddenly came from the woods nearby.
The big man glanced over out of the corner of his eye, his face instantly turning even paler. He couldn’t help but curse inwardly.
He stirred what little blood-qi he had left, unleashing the murderous aura he had accumulated over years of slaughter, and pressed it down hard on the surrounding mountain forest.
The demon in the dense forest seemed to be suppressed by his imposing presence. A whimper was heard, and then there was silence.
The big man glanced behind him, then strode back into the dense forest.
Not long after he left, a black bear nearly ten feet tall suddenly rose from the bushes. Its amber eyes watched the big man’s retreating figure. It whimpered twice, then turned as if to leave.
WHOOSH... Just then, a pale green Wind Blade shot out from the dense forest, circled the black bear’s neck, and dissipated into a glimmer of spiritual light.
The black bear took two steps forward. The next instant, its massive head separated from its body and it collapsed heavily to the ground. A torrent of blood gushed out, splattering everywhere.
Then, several figures leaped out from the forest.
Among them were Tan Hu, Luan Jian, and the three captains of the Demon Hunting Corps...
"Heh..."
Tan Hu grinned and walked over to the bear’s corpse. Without any visible movement from him, his shadow twisted for a moment, and two red lights, as large as lanterns, suddenly flared within it.
CRUNCH...
The sound of ferocious tearing and devouring rang out.
In just a few breaths, all that was left of the massive black bear was a dried-out, bloodless hide.
The others watched this scene, their gazes flickering.
Luan Jian frowned and barked, "Let’s go!"
The group quickly followed, speeding off in the direction the big man had gone.
「A Cup of Tea’s Time later.」
In the forest not far from a narrow valley tucked between two low mountains, the group watched as the big man in tattered armor disappeared inside.
Once he was out of sight, Tan Hu closed his eyes and focused, his shadow twisting and churning beneath him.
GRRROWL...
Suddenly, a muffled, low roar echoed from within the shadow, and the three Demon Hunting Team captains all tensed up.
The next moment, a black, humanoid phantom climbed out of the shadow. Its form flickered for a few moments before it entered the narrow valley pass.
The two Power Demon Sect Cultivators stationed in the pass only felt a slight breeze brush past them, completely unaware that a phantom, like smoke or mist, had drifted over their heads.
The humanoid phantom soon reached the end of the passage.
Before it lay a straight, wide road, lined with simple houses.
At the end of the road, the big man in tattered armor was sitting cross-legged on the ground, with a tall, slender man standing beside him.
Not far from the two of them was a constantly churning crimson blood mist, obscuring what lay within.
The humanoid phantom hovered for a few breaths, then moved out of the pass.
However, before it could merge into the shadows of the houses,
ROAR...
A piercing beastly roar suddenly erupted from the blood mist, and a thick beam of blood-light shot out from it, blasting toward the humanoid phantom at the valley entrance.
Unable to dodge in time, the humanoid phantom had half of its body torn apart by the blood-light.
SCREECH...
A shrill scream rang out as the humanoid phantom violently dispersed, turning into a cloud of mist that tried to flee back into the passage.
However, before it could escape, another beam of blood-light descended upon it.
BOOM...
In that instant, without even a chance to resist, it was utterly annihilated by the blood-light.
"Hah..."
Within the blood mist, Congli, who was sitting cross-legged beneath a totem, sneered and slowly withdrew his arm, his gaze turning toward the mist.
There, in the dense blood mist, lurked dozens of dark-red demons. They were gulping down the surrounding mist, their bodies gradually solidifying from an illusory state.
Among them, three demons had the most tyrannical auras; the blood mist flowed into their mouths like rivers.
As the dark-red demons continued to devour the blood mist, the blood in the pool visibly receded. Their bodies became solid and real, and some even began to grow patches of dark-red scales on their skin.
’Soon...’
Congli’s gaze was fiery as he watched them.
At that moment, Power Demon Sect Cultivators emerged from the houses one by one, gathering at the edge of the central blood pool and waiting in silence.
「Outside the valley, in the forest.」
Tan Hu’s eyes snapped open, his expression a mixture of shock and uncertainty.
Luan Jian asked, "What’s the situation in the valley? How many Power Demon Sect members are there?"
Tan Hu thought for a moment before replying, "Judging by the houses, there are at least a hundred of them..."
He then added, his expression still full of shock, "According to the memories sent back by the Chong Ghost before it died, they seem to be refining some kind of blood artifact!"
"And judging by the scale of it, it’s at least a high-grade blood artifact..."
’A high-grade blood artifact?’
The three Demon Hunting Team captains’ expressions changed slightly.
Blood artifacts weren’t something ordinary Cultivators could refine. Compared to Magical Artifacts, they were far more dangerous and powerful.
But because they were difficult to refine and prone to backlash, very few Cultivators would attempt to create one.
Luan Jian frowned. "Do you know what kind of blood artifact it is?"
The three sects often had friction between them, and over time, they had naturally come to understand each other’s methods.
An ordinary offensive blood artifact would be one thing, but if it was one of those special, malicious types, they might suffer a great loss if they encountered it in the future.
Tan Hu thought for a moment, then shook his head. "I don’t know. The Chong Ghost only saw a ball of blood mist and the blood-light that shot out of it. It didn’t see its actual form."
’Blood mist, blood-light...’
There were many blood artifacts that could do that. It was impossible to guess which one it was.
Luan Jian pondered for a moment, then asked, "If we launch a surprise attack, can we destroy that blood artifact?"
