Eternal Life by Nurturing Monsters and Plants
Chapter 127 - 124: Human Soul
Chapter 127: Chapter 124: Human Soul
Before long, the man and the pig arrived at the ridge of the fields.
The surface of the Spirit Field was wreathed in flowing, cloud-like Spiritual Mist. Under the sunlight, the white, jade-like Jade Ganoderma Fruits sparkled with a crystalline light.
Li Changsheng shifted his thoughts.
BUZZ...
Insects flew out one by one from the Spiritual Mist, gathering into a swarm that hovered above his head.
Four of the Five Poisons, having advanced to mid-grade, crawled to his feet under the lead of the Ghost-faced Scorpion and lay motionless.
Li Changsheng checked their cultivation progress. After devouring large amounts of Blood Food over the past few days, the insect swarm had improved greatly, and the Four Poison Beasts had also made significant progress.
In particular, Big Bro and Little Bro were rapidly approaching the cultivation level of High-Grade Spirit Insects.
After his inspection, Li Changsheng walked over to the edge of the second Tier Two Mid-grade Spirit Field.
He took a jade box from his storage bag and opened it. Inside were pitch-black Earth Spirit Root seeds the size of longans, emitting an earthy scent. Then, he took out a small pouch woven from gold silk from his storage bag. It contained the Spiritual Objects needed to cultivate the Earth Spirit Roots.
Carrying the jade box and the gold silk pouch, Li Changsheng stepped into the Spirit Field. He dug a small pit, opened the pouch, grabbed a small pinch of fine powder, and sprinkled it into the hole.
The powder was ground from a Tier Two Low-Grade Spiritual Object known as Earth Crystal, containing a vast amount of earth-attribute Spiritual Qi. After sprinkling it evenly, Li Changsheng picked up an Earth Spirit Root seed and buried it in the pit. Without pausing, he planted ten Earth Spirit Roots in a row.
"Compared to the rather delicate Jade Ganoderma Fruit, Earth Spirit Roots are quite easy to plant..." Li Changsheng sighed in his heart. He pressed his hand against the Spirit Field, closed his eyes, and concentrated.
As the Three-leaf Mark between his eyebrows flashed with spiritual light, a streak of emerald green flowed from his palm.
In a trance-like moment, a meridian map emerged in his mind. It was centered around a fist-sized Spiritual Vortex and radiated outward to cover about an acre of land. Ten dull yellow specks of light hovered above it.
With a shift of his thoughts, life-giving spiritual energy surged along the Spirit Field’s meridian network and into the ten Earth Spirit Root seeds. After a dozen breaths, the dull yellow specks extended tendrils that intertwined with the Spirit Field’s meridians, establishing a mutually sustaining relationship with the Spiritual Vortex.
Li Changsheng opened his eyes.
At his feet, ten verdant, two-leafed seedlings had broken through the soil, looking incredibly delightful.
Li Changsheng stared intently at them.
[Target: Earth Spirit Root Seedling]
[Tier One Low-Grade: 1%]
[Medicinal Effect: Strengthens the body and cultivates foundational essence.]
[Status: Healthy.]
"So, what is the cultivation method then?"
Li Changsheng focused his gaze on the [Tier One Low-Grade: 1%] line, and in the next instant, a stream of information flooded into his mind.
[Concealed Spiritual Upgrade: Infuse with Earth Crystal powder and a massive amount of life-giving spiritual energy to accelerate ripening—"None"]
The cultivation method provided by his Golden Finger was identical to the one recorded in the jade slip.
Li Changsheng wasn’t disappointed. He dismissed the interface and stepped forward.
He dug a pit, sprinkled the Earth Crystal powder, and placed an Earth Spirit Root seed. Repeating this process, it took just half a day for the entire acre of the Spirit Field to be fully planted.
Standing at the edge of the Spirit Field, Li Changsheng stretched his back and looked down. Within the faint Spiritual Mist, the jade-green, two-leafed sprouts flickered in and out of sight, looking truly beautiful.
After resting for a moment, he fed Xiaohua two handfuls of Spirit Rice.
Li Changsheng walked over to the third Spirit Field. With a flip of his hand, he brought out a jade box and a rune-inscribed jade jar. The faint sound of sloshing liquid echoed inside the jade jar, though he didn’t know what it was.
He casually opened the jade box. Accompanied by a pungent, metallic stench of blood, seeds resembling bloodshot human pupils—Thousand Silk Pupils seeds—came into view.
Even though he had looked at them several times already, Li Changsheng’s heartbeat still quickened slightly as he gazed at the pupil-like seeds that seemed to be staring right back at him.
"Are these human... or?" Thoughts churned endlessly in his mind. "I’m just a farmer..."
After hesitating for a few breaths, Li Changsheng banished the distracting thoughts from his mind and circulated his Spiritual Power to activate the runes on the jade jar.
CLICK...
The lid of the jade jar loosened, and a cloying, sweet aroma wafted out from the gap. Smelling too much of it brought on a sudden wave of nausea.
Li Changsheng frowned. He circulated his Spiritual Power to block his sense of smell and reached out to open the lid. Inside was half a jar of thick, clear liquid. He had no idea what it was.
Fearing it might be dangerous, Li Changsheng didn’t dare taste it.
Without delay, he stepped into the Spirit Field and dug a small pit. Tilting the jar in his hand, thick streams of liquid fell into the hole. He didn’t stop until there was enough to submerge a Thousand Silk Pupils seed.
Strangely, the liquid neither dispersed nor sank into the soil; it sat in the pit like a single, crystalline drop of water.
Li Changsheng marveled at it for a moment. Covering his palm with Spiritual Power, he picked up a Thousand Silk Pupils seed, placed it into the liquid bead, and covered it with dirt. Then, he set the remaining seeds and the jade jar aside.
Li Changsheng pressed his hand against the ground. With a shift of his thoughts, an emerald stream of light immediately emanated from his palm.
GULP...
For a brief moment, a swallowing sound seemed to echo in his ears. In the meridian map floating in his mind, a scarlet speck of light frantically sprouted dense tendrils, entangling itself with the Spirit Field’s meridians.
Unlike the Jade Ganoderma Fruit and the Earth Spirit Root, which established a mutually sustaining relationship, this was more like plundering. It devoured the Spiritual Qi surging from the Spiritual Vortex with wild abandon. It didn’t even need his guidance; the Thousand Silk Pupils connected itself to the Spiritual Qi meridian network and greedily gulped down the incoming energy.
Li Changsheng severed his connection with the Spirit Field and opened his eyes.
Before him was a pale white eyeball, about three inches tall, guarded by dozens—if not hundreds—of entirely blood-red root-like threads.
In its center was a long, narrow slit surrounded by tiny blue veins, making it look as though it could blink open at any moment.
"What in the world is this..."
Li Changsheng pondered for a moment, his gaze fixed on it.
[Target: Thousand Silk Pupils]
[Tier One Low-Grade: 1%]
[Medicinal Effect: Nourishes the spirit and soul.]
[Status: Healthy.]
Li Changsheng didn’t look at its grade. Instead, he focused his gaze on its name. The next instant, a stream of information rushed into his mind.
