Chapter 3860: Instigating

Alex was stunned for a long few seconds after hearing that.

"A God died? How?"

The Sky God shook her head in an exaggerated manner. "Who else could it be but those people?" she said. "Those damn Godbreakers."

"Godbreakers?" Alex asked. "The same people who previously killed the Body God?"

"Yes," the Sky God said. "We did not have actual confirmation back then on whether they had or not, but this time, there’s pretty damning evidence."

The Sky God looked overly worried about this, more than Alex would’ve expected her to be. He could understand how this was an issue, but surely it was not so much of an issue that she needed to be so upset.

"How do we know it was them?" Alex asked with great curiosity.

"The Godbreakers killed him right in front of the Music God," Newheaven said. "They had apparently crippled him and all, but hadn’t killed him. When the Music God showed up, they killed him and left his body behind before teleporting away."

Alex couldn’t help but raise his eyebrows in surprise. He couldn’t see why they would do this, but whatever their actual reason was, they had acted on it and killed him.

"Isn’t the Movement God supposed to be quick? Even he got caught?" Alex asked.

"More like he got caught off guard, or at least that’s what I’m guessing," the Sky God said.

Alex could imagine something similar happening as well. "Where was this? Do we know?" he asked.

"In the Divine Sanctuary Realm, near the teleportation formation that leads to the Spirit Blossom Realm," the Sky God said. "You don’t need to know too much. I just thought you should be aware since you now go around claiming to be a God, and they may just come after you."

Alex didn’t want to believe that was the case, but what did he know?

"Thank you for the warning, senior," he said afterward.

Bladedance walked up to him and gestured for him to leave now. Alex didn’t say anything and simply bowed toward the Sky God and Divination God before walking away. As he walked, he couldn’t help but wonder what other Gods the Godbreakers were going after.

And more than that, the Godbreakers had to have a reason to go after the Gods. What reason could it be?

"There is a Voidgate that leads to the Divine Sanctuary Realm from the Celestial’s Cradle. The Music God lives in the Fiend’s Sanctuary, so he just took a single teleportation to the other realm and went directly over there," Bladedance said.

Alex nodded slowly. "I knew about this, but thank you for telling me that. Is there a reason I should know this?"

Bladedance raised an eyebrow. "I thought you were curious why he was there. Were you not?"

"No," Alex answered. "I was more curious about why the Godbreakers attacked the Movement God. They attacked the Body God first, right? Then I believe they went after the Spear God and the Defense God too. And now the Movement God."

"That... is part of the issue that is bugging Newheaven at the moment," Bladedance said.

"Which part?" Alex asked.

"Their alignments."

Alex narrowed his eyes. "I don’t understand. What alignment?"

Bladedance looked around for a moment before speaking again. "Currently, the council of Gods is separated into three groups. One group advocates for war, the other opposes it. The final group abstains from choosing either side. I don’t know what the Defense God thinks, but the Spear God has been quite open about his views on the war. Though he hasn’t fully accepted it, everyone around here knows all he needs is a nudge at most."

"And the other two Gods?" Alex asked, though he could already foresee the answer he was going to get.

"Both of them were pro-war," Bladedance said. "Both the Body God and the Movement God have advocated for war quite loudly over the past couple of millennia, or so I’ve heard."

Alex lowered his head in thought. "Since the Sky God is against the war, what is happening currently works in her favor."

"But..." Bladedance started.

"But..." Alex continued as he reached his own conclusion. "If only people who are pro-war keep getting attacked, all eyes will fall on the opposition. And the one at the head of that opposition is the Sky God."

Bladedance nodded. "That is a major part of why Newheaven is so worried. She fears that the Godbreakers are actively trying to lower her in her opponents’ eyes. She is barely holding the Gods together as it is. If it gets any worse, there will be a fissure, and I do not know what will happen should a fissure form among the Gods."

Alex drew in a sharp breath as he too wondered the same. How would a divided human world stand?

Perhaps the only solace he could take from this fact was that the Demons, though a collective, would not use this opportunity to wage another war. Shumi would search for peace no matter what, and if her influence extended as much as he thought it did, the idea would stop before it could take hold.

The only thing to worry about would be whatever form of civil war that would create.

Alex could only pray that nothing of that sort happened.

"Someone is playing a dangerous game, and I’m going to kill them the moment I find out who," Bladedance said after they had walked some distance away.

Alex nodded along.

After walking back to Bladedance’s courtyard, Alex was finally reminded of the promise he had made to Sunflare earlier.

Bladedance didn’t mind helping them with it, so she asked for the three to gather in her courtyard. Some time later, all three bald men in their yellow robes stood inside Bladedance’s courtyard, once again waiting for the opportunity to see their God.

Inside his Soul Space, Alex made sure that the formation was once again active and that Ray had formed the barrier around the tree. Once everything was settled, he took them in one by one.
