Chapter 2906: Surrounded upon Arrival
Chapter 2906: Surrounded upon Arrival
Pearl felt nervous.
Going to the Land of the Blessed Sun had always been a plan of his, but he had never believed that he would be going there this soon. But then, it wasn’t soon, was it?
While it had only been 300 or so years since he left with Alex for the Immortal world, over 1500 years had passed in the outside world. At this point, Pearl fully understood that his grandfather and the others would have left back to this world already.
And while it hadn’t been truly a long time, especially from the perspective of an Immortal, he longed to meet them.
As nervous as he was, he was excited as well.
“I’ll use the talisman,” Pearl said. “Are we ready?”
Alex looked toward Bladedance and the old man. “Do you two wish to stay outside? Or should I take you into my Soul Space?”
“I’m not hiding,” Bladedance said.
“It is a new world,” the old man said with an excited smile on his face. “I’ve waited so many years to see it. I cannot remain inside while there are new places to be seen.”
Alex couldn’t help but smile hearing the glee in the old man’s voice. “Then I hope the both of you are ready for your tribulation. You too, Pearl. I fear you might have to face an Inner Demon since you broke through to the Immortal Origin realm while you were in my Soul Space.”
Pearl nodded.
“If everyone is ready, I will begin then,” Pearl said and activated the talisman.
The moment it activated, the Heavens came to a stir. The sky broke into the glimmering light of silver rays that spun into a maelstrom in the sky. As the silver vortex coalesced, it descended upon them.
Alex quickly made sure it was targeting all of them.
Pearl was at the center of it, so he would teleport. Whisker right next to him wasn’t missed either.
Bladedance could already sense the aura upon her, and the old man felt it too.
Alex could also feel the teleportation aura landing upon him, so he felt relieved that all five of them were being teleported away.
As the maelstrom descended, Alex saw something out of the corner of his eye. He turned to look at what it was, but he saw nothing there.
At the same time, he thought he heard something, but he couldn’t make out the words. He was confused for a moment, but after not discovering anything, he could only believe that it was his imagination.
He didn’t have the time to think of anything else as the very next moment, the vortex swallowed them all and they were teleported away.
One moment, they were standing atop the green mountaintop, staring down at a beautiful lake, and the very next moment, they arrived at another mountaintop, this time staring down at a world filled with forests and houses all around.
What else there was, none of them had the luxury to see. For the moment they arrived, they were immediately surrounded by beasts in all directions.
Alex saw dozens of beasts around them, each at least in the Immortal realm.
The beasts were of various races as well. Tiger, snake, gecko, turtle, peacock, fox, wolf, lizard, serpents, etc., stood all around them, each seemingly fully prepared to battle.
With a flash of light, four other beasts arrived. This time, they weren’t as simple as the beasts before.
To their left was a White Tiger, to their right an Azure Dragon. Before them was the Black Tortoise, both halves, and behind, a Vermillion Bird, landing ever so gently.
“What is this?” the White Tiger spoke first. “Humans? Through here?”
“They used the talisman, but it is half a millennia too late,” the Vermillion Bird said.
“How did they use it in the first place?” the Tortoise asked. “I do not see anyone that could have used the talisman. Did the cat do it?”
“Do not worry, we will find out soon enough,” the Azure Dragon said. “They clearly used our talisman. Since there is no one among them that is one of our kin, we will interrogate them.”
“The talisman can be used by any four of us,” the White Tiger said. “The cat surely holds our bloodline. We will be taking over.”
“Then you won’t mind explaining how they came across our talisman, will you?” the Azure Dragon asked.
The two beasts immediately began squabbling, with neither backing down.
“Pearl, call your grandfather,” Alex said through their bond.
“I already did,” Pearl said.
“Let us leave,” Bladedance said with a slightly annoyed look on her face and walked down from the platform. Alex and the rest followed.
“Human, remain where you are,” the Azure Dragon shouted. “Or else we will—”
Bladedance’s eyes turned to the beast and immediately the dragon’s words seized in its throat. “Or else what?” she asked, now fully turning toward him.
The Azure Dragon stepped back, its four limbs trembling ever so slightly.
“Do you wish to continue threatening me?” Bladedance asked. “If you want to, you better get someone stronger. A measly divine beast isn’t going to cut it.”
Every single beast in the area froze in surprise as they too could feel Bladedance’s strong Intent.
Almost as soon as her Intent surfaced, it retreated into her as well. Bladedance looked to the sky for a brief moment before looking away.
The space around them fluctuated and another Azure Dragon appeared. This time, the beast was massive, flying high in the sky, its cultivation base much higher than any of the beasts in the surrounding area.
The Azure Dragon flew down, and as it did, it shrunk in size, until it was no more than 5 meters long. It landed before Alex and the group, its eyes focusing on Bladedance.
“I do not remember human faces all that well,” the newcomer said. “But if I’m not mistaken, you are one of the gods of the Humans, aren’t you? The Sword God, I believe.”
