Chapter 784: Chapter 673: Revelation of the Lord
The carriage was filled with an almost stagnant silence, broken only by the low, rhythmic hum of the engine and the occasional slight jolt when the car ran over the uneven road.
Feng Mu leaned against the back seat, his face turned towards the window, lost in his thoughts as he stared outside in a daze.
The driver was Jiang Li, focusing intently on the road ahead, with a black line stretching out from the top of his head, like a bizarre antenna piercing straight through the car’s roof, pointing skyward.
After a while, Feng Mu quietly retracted his gaze, feeling a profound sense of helplessness wash over him.
At this point, he neither knew what these black lines truly were nor could he do anything about them.
Staring at them for too long seemed only to increase the psychological burden and a vague sense of nausea, seemingly serving no real purpose.
Feng Mu sighed helplessly, inevitably inhaling some of the black air into his nose.
"I just finished the Bone Marrow Cleansing, and now I’m polluted again."
Feng Mu’s heart sank slightly.
Although no prompts or warnings had popped up on the system panel in his mind, he could clearly feel a subtle heaviness settling in his body.
Inside, his body seemed to have a faint, barely noticeable sense of stagnation, like the most precise instrument having a grain of sand blown into it.
It seemed like just a single grain of sand, harmless in appearance, but he kept breathing—sooner or later, the sand would accumulate more and more!
"As long as the Lower City remains shrouded in black air, I will inevitably continue to be polluted.
At this rate, it won’t take long for the black air to accumulate in my body, the five organs and six bowels will be eroded once more, senses will be clouded again, and I might return to a living dead state..."
Thinking this far, Feng Mu’s expression involuntarily became slightly solemn, and for the first time, he developed the desire to change the Lower City.
In the past, no matter how dark and dirty the Lower City was, Feng Mu didn’t care much—it was nothing more than embracing the darkness.
But if it was this kind of tangible "darkness," then forget it.
It wasn’t that he suddenly changed his disposition or harbored some noble ideal of saving the people from their plight.
Feng Mu wasn’t that great; his motivations were much purer and more selfish. He simply wanted to give his "living environment" a thorough cleaning.
But this thought was merely a vague notion that had just been born.
He hadn’t yet figured out how to do it or how to clean it.
"I can use the Bone Marrow Cleansing Pill to cleanse myself, but there’s no way to use it to clean the world, so how on earth should I do this?
If only these people, these buildings, everything in the Lower City could self-clean like smart appliances..."
Just as this wild thought flashed through his mind—
An extremely fuzzy, static-like auditory hallucination, akin to a distorted old radio broadcast, unexpectedly invaded his mind.
Feng Mu was startled and instinctively held his breath, drawing all his consciousness inward to try to catch this strange "hallucination."
As he listened, he gradually discerned that someone was praying to him, pleading for guidance.
"The ’auditory hallucination’ mentioned in the Deputy’s Blessing skill introduction?"
Feng Mu immediately realized.
Understanding the source, he almost instinctively attempted to link his consciousness to the direction from which the prayer was coming.
There was no manual or guide; it felt like an innate ability. The moment the thought formed, the link was established.
In an instant, the voices in his mind became incredibly clear—not just a vague hallucination but distinct words, allowing even the trembling, anger, and deeply hidden helplessness in the speaker’s voice to be discerned.
Not only that...
Feng Mu was surprised to find that his "perspective" also seemed to switch accordingly.
He felt as if he had silently "hacked" into the consciousness of the praying person, quietly opening the person’s camera (eyes) without their awareness.
Thus, he was no longer just "hearing."
He "saw."
What unfolded before his "eyes" was a somewhat shaky first-person 480p scene.
An old wooden table with a bowl of leftover synthetic porridge on top, and across from it sat a middle-aged man with a weight of life’s burdens imprinted between his brows.
It looked like a conversation at the dinner table between father and son, a scene he knew all too well.
In fact, according to the skill introduction, at his current Deputy’s Blessing lv2, Feng Mu should not have the ability of "vision sharing," only to stay at the level of "listening" to prayers.
But it’s because he secretly formed a Nascent Soul.
This was an invisible benefit brought by the Nascent Soul, though Feng Mu himself was unaware of it and merely assumed it was an effect of the skill itself.
Feng Mu quietly "watched" all this, experiencing through Chen Fengrui’s eyes and ears the other party’s anger, the suppressed flames, and the strong gratitude and prayer for him.
Feng Mu still felt a bit puzzled:
"Strange, the Deputy I let roam freely is so fervent about me. Could this be the potential ’Saint’ that the skill introduction mentioned?!!"
Feng Mu’s thoughts were stirred as he listened to the father’s response and suddenly, in a moment of inspiration, he had a spark of an idea for cleansing...no, cleaning the world...
Listening to the father’s answer, Chen Fengrui had never thought the answer would be so "unbelievable."
He didn’t want to believe this truth, especially now that he had also become someone who had gained Strength.
