Chapter 2163: Buy Enough Time

Chapter 2163: Buy Enough Time

-----

And it kept coming from everywhere, the ground collapsed and fell apart to reveal hundreds of massive, skyscraper-sized tentacle-like roots, spreading everywhere, crushing and demolishing the golems.

"GAAAAHH! This is ridiculous! How come...?! Damn it! Now, combine!"

Oberon wasted no time, the surviving golems all flew into the skies alongside his own, assembling together into a massive Magitech titan of bronze color, releasing blue mana steam everywhere.

"You might have destroyed the formation, but we’ve gathered just enough Mana!" Stone roared, rushing down. "I’ll buy time for the main body and kill you all with my own hands if I must!"

"Don’t make me laugh!" Alma fully recovered, Root healing her instantly with his divine magic, as she swung knife once more, a cross-shaped slash of pure compressed mana was unleashed, channeling the power of emptiness and void through the endless compression of mana to the point space was distorted and broken apart.

"{Void Cross}!"

The attack hit the massive golem, as a forcefield protected it, absorbing the Mana and quickly dispersing the entire technique entirely.

"Did you think the array is gone? It has simply become part of this body!"

Stone flew towards Alma and company, as Root’s wood tried to catch him from underground, but the speed at which he could move such massive limbs and stretch them was much slower than how fast the golem could fly, as Stone evaded each attack and pummeled down with his massive machine down.

"Learn about the power of dwarven Magitech and become scrap!"

RUMBLE!

The golem’s foot released deadly flames from its propulsors, Stone’s aim was to not only crush them but burn them alongside Root with a deadly Dynamite Flare Crystal-fueled propulsors, a powerful stone that contains one of this world’s deadliest flames, capable of burning without stopping.

All of these things were magic ores mined in the mountains of Svartalfheim, which may have little nature, but had resources like these to spare.

"RAAAAHHH!"

Root surged and became larger, opening his jaws and unleashing a devastating breath attack, which Stone defended against using his forcefield shield, however, it only worked a little, as Root’s breath attack managed to pierce through it and blow through one of the combined golem’s arms.

BOOOM!

"Nnggh...! Cannon!"

Stone roared, the golem quickly manifested several cannons out of magic power and steel, firing several beams and bombarding the area where Root was, his wood burning and turning into ashes rapidly.

Alma and the rest were quickly teleported away by Hermes, who was able to regain his strength and Mana and use his Unique Skill in time.

"Wait, what about Root?!" Alma panicked, looking from afar.

"Don’t worry about him, he’s enormous anyway!" Hermes said. "We have to deal with that bastard, and quickly! That damned golem is strong!"

RUMBLE!

The giant golem was distracted by Root, whose wood wrapped around the giant golem’s legs slowing it down. Root quickly opened his jaws once more, firing several breath attacks and bombarding the giant thing, whose forcefield defended it rather well.

"It’s time for some deforestation! Gahahaha!"

Stone laughed loudly like dwarves usually did. Even though he was Oberon’s soul fragment, he was born and raised as a dwarven within dwarven society, adapting to their customs to meld with them better. This was also one of the reasons why his soul fragments were so different, and why sometimes they chose to go against the main body’s will.

However, Stone was among the most loyal soul fragments, and he would carry out his duty even if it meant dying... even though he never planned to die anyway.

"Callon, do you think you can help me out?" Alma asked.

"Yes?" Callon wondered. "What can I even do? Even with our blessings, we are too outmatched..."

"No, my Mana can’t hit him directly, right? I just need a vessel!" said Alma. "Can’t you create something with your magic?!"

"I... can try!" her sister said. "Okay!"

Callon unleashed his power, a derivation of technomancy, as the stone beneath them trembled, rapidly assembling together into something large.

"What do you want me to do, sister?" Callon asked.

"A huge hammer will work!" Alma said. "Knife, go and become the core of the contrusction!"

"Fine!" Knife rushed in the middle, as he was encompassed by stone everywhere.

"Girls! Can you fight?" Alma asked.

"W-We’re fine..."

"Yeah, we can."

The twins had also been healed, barely stabilizing after some minutes, their psychic power surged, although it was weakened.

"We can’t do much though."

"We are so sorry, young lady..."

"It’s fine, channel your power into the hammer my brother’s making!" Alma said.

"O-Okay!"

"Compact it right?"

"Yeah!" Alma said, as she released her Mana, fueling the massive construction.

A vessel to her Mana!

"Alma, what the hell is this?!" Hermes wondered, looking into the skies.

"Won’t you trust your wife for once, Hermes? Do you have so little faith in me even after everything we’ve gone through? I thought you loved me..." Alma said, her eyes blazing with conviction."

"I...! Of course I do... sorry, I just... tell me what I should do," Hermes said, quickly realizing he shouldn’t be acting like this. "The only thing I can do is teleport and wield space, but my power is still rather limited..."

"It’s fine," said Alma. "You’ve practiced a lot, it’s strong... your Spatial Manipulation is just what we need. I doubt the bastard prepared for that. We’ve hardly shown him what you can actually do, so far, he thinks you can only teleport around."

"Alright...!" Hermes nodded.

As they talked, Root clashed against Stone’s golem, explosions of spiritual energy and flames erupting, as Root’s branches and roots burned rapidly one by one, he was forced to sacrifice parts of his body to keep Stone’s busy and in place.

"Hahaha! Do you plan to let me burn you completely, dragon?!" Stone laughed. "I have no idea what exactly you are, but you’re just a giant tree, right?! I’ll burn you to cinders!"

As more flames emerged from the body of the golem and encompassed Root’s body, rapidly burning him, his green eyes glanced at Alma, smiling as he slowly turned to cinders.

"I just have to buy time for a few more seconds... it’s not hard at all, Oberon!"
