Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking

Chapter 838: Mid-Stage Heavenly Venerate (Happy New Year!)

Chapter 838: Mid-Stage Heavenly Venerate (Happy New Year!)

The hype of the tournament faded quickly, especially compared to the previous one.

Afterwards, life returned to its normal state. Nothing changed too much for the Rising Sun Domain either. Although their initial display wasn’t too strong, it wasn’t too bad either.

That alone painted them in a good light, which definitely increased the flow of tourists. Nothing that couldn’t be handled, though.

Cedric remained behind the scenes as the macro-manager. He had long freed himself of the small and unnecessary burdens since he built his own council. He could now sit back for the most part and enjoy the fruits of his labor.

Of course, he wasn’t that idle. Just because his territory was now running well, it doesn’t mean that there was nothing else for him to do.

His cultivation becomes his real focus at this point. That, and spending time with his family, obviously. But it’s mainly his cultivation since his family did just fine even with his prolonged absence. They’ve gotten used to it at this point.

In the past 500 years, Cedric only made a small advancement in his life evolution, and that’s going from the initial stage of the Heavenly Venerate Realm to the mid-stage.

Although this was but a small step, in truth, it was a massive increase in his actual strength.

The deeper one went in the evolutionary line, the wider the gap on each major realm and minor stage became.

An initial-stage Heavenly Venerate Realm couldn’t possibly hope to defeat a mid-stage Heavenly Venerate in terms of raw power. They might survive in a clash if the former’s law insights were richer compared to the latter, but that’s about it—only survival. They’re not winning that fight.

The disparity just gets wider the further one goes.

But this rule applies for common geniuses who have reached this level. Cedric wasn’t one of them. He’s a unique existence no matter who you ask.

Not only was he confident about defeating an evolver that was a minor stage stronger than him, but he could even play with somebody a major realm stronger than him.

Cedric, at his current strength level, did not fear the Bug Empress at all—the very existence that terrified humans and other species out there. If she dared to show up, he could thoroughly embarrass her to the point of tears.

This wasn’t blind confidence. It was a real consensus based on what he could do and what the enemy had displayed so far.

With how confident he was, others might think that he had already comprehended a complete Origin Law…but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

He hasn’t. Not even a single one, yet.

Why? Because it’s not the time just yet.

His clone at the Origin Heaven Continent hasn’t yet gone to the Core Inheritance Zone to see what a complete Origin Law looks like. Meaning that the ten days that he was bestowed to do so haven’t been used just yet.

And staying at the outer area of the inheritance zone will not allow him to comprehend a complete origin law. It could get him close, yes, but never close enough for him to actually comprehend everything at once.

It’s deliberately designed that way because if it isn’t, then what’s the point of the Origin Heaven Tablets?

However, this doesn’t mean that Cedric made no progress. That couldn’t be further from the truth because, in all honesty, he has made a lot of progress.

To say that he might be the only human at the modern Heavenly Star Chaos Realm that is as close to being compared to the Supreme Will wouldn’t be an understatement.

The amount of law essences he comprehended during these past 500 years was just too much.

Remember, each law essence fragment is considered as a complete Heavenly Law in itself. Even if they fall under the same category, they’re still extremely powerful on their own.

The best part? Using two fragments of the same law at the same time isn’t just a simple ’1+1=2’ in power. Their power isn’t additive; it’s amplified. The more fragments of the same law he uses, the stronger their output becomes.

Just so you know, Cedric was only a quarter of the way through comprehending, or gaining the recognition of, both Fire and Sword Laws. As for his rarer concept laws, for the majority, he’s halfway through them.

We’re talking about 30 law essence fragments here, at minimum. And Cedric was far from being done.

This is where his real confidence comes from. Because who in the modern era of Heavenly Star could compare to him? In fact, who in the five known Chaos Realms could compare to him?

Nobody, obviously. Even the Bug Empress herself doesn’t qualify.

Except for the humans who were trapped in the Origin Heaven Continent, nobody else in the Primitive Universe could easily compare to him.

But even with all of this power, Cedric wasn’t one to charge ahead and start conquering the world as if they owed him everything.

He was never that person, and never will be.

Cedric was more than happy with the current status quo. He is left alone to do as he pleases. He is close to where his family and people were. Everything was peaceful, serene, and harmonious.

He’s exactly where he wanted to be. There’s no need for anything to change. Everything’s fine as is.

**

Cedric wasn’t the only one who enjoyed the current peace of the Chaos Realm.

The Human Sovereigns themselves thoroughly enjoyed it too, in their own way, of course.

At some point, Gibson returned to the drawing board. He had a healthy balance of work and rest.

The good news is that the first prototype of the ’Empress Killer’ was created about 250-ish years ago. The bad news is that this is just that—a prototype.

It couldn’t even be tested yet because, strangely enough, the Bug Empress never thought about visiting during the past 500 years. Not even her true children came, or her husband for that matter.

After Pelle’s failure, all they did was send more nests to the frontlines to keep up appearances. Nothing drastic happened after that.

Gibson needs more data to create better prototypes and finalize the real thing. Alas, without her showing up, he simply couldn’t just tell if it’s going to be enough or not.

Still, he wasn’t discouraged. Knowing her, she wouldn’t be able to resist. At some point, she’d return. And once she did, he’d be ready.

For now, Gibson was just going to have to be satisfied with what he had and continue brainstorming for improvements as he goes, even though he knew progress would slow down to a crawl.

Urek continues his pranking ways. He would sometimes go out of Heavenly Star, search for bugs to prank, and have a good laugh at it.

His pranks are rather sinister with them as his targets. He concocts the most horrible ways to make their lives miserable. And the best part? He was never caught or suspected by them, not even once.

They blamed the strangeness of the void outside the known Chaos Realms instead, which was very hilarious to him for some reason.

Nothing much could he said about Berk.

The dude practically lived with his ’children’ while his clones handled his usual responsibilities. He would have been more than happy to disappear entirely from everybody’s cognition if it was only allowed, because all he really wanted was to accompany his kids.

Alas, he couldn’t do that just yet.

But beyond their usual antics, the three of them had a clone meditating about law essences too. Although their entire focus wasn’t on it, that doesn’t mean there was no progress. There is, just a little bit, though. Nothing too crazy compared to Nick and Pat.

Speaking of them…

Nicholas and Patricia were so close. They are, like, only a couple of law essences short of completing their entire collection.

The minimum law essences needed for Nick’s Destruction Laws were 60. Same with Patricia’s Soul Laws. Again, this is just the minimum; neither of them knew the exact amount just yet.

But to complete the minimum, at least, Nick only needed to comprehend at least 5 more law essences, while Pat still needs 6.

They’ve been working extra hard during the past 500 years. Barely taking rest in between. Riding the momentum as far as it could take them.

Each time they came out for a short break, they’d look tired, disheveled, and messy with bloodshot eyes. However, the brightness of their determination and sheer power radiated out of them.

And just like Cedric, they too were no longer afraid of the Bug Empress. If anything, they think that she should be afraid of them, because they have certainly surpassed her at this point.

And all it took was for that one spark. Someone to point them in the right direction. The rest was handled through their own skills and determination.

But yes, both of them are close. So close they could almost taste it. And they certainly can’t stop now.

One way or another, sooner or later, they will gain the recognition of their respective Origin Laws.

And once that day arrives, the Bug Empress’s days are numbered.
