Endless Extraction in a Game-Like World

Chapter 462: Emerging from the Cocoon

  • Next Chapter

Caelus felt the cocoon shake as the golden construct filled his vision again. This time he was close enough to see something moving deep inside it.

A small piece of light floated between its turning parts. The moment he noticed it, the scene changed and the familiar paradise appeared around him.

Six children ran through the grass below. However he was watching them from far above this time and an enormous hand reached down as one waved toward him.

Caelus tried to move his own hand and felt the movement match. His eyes widened as he looked down at a body filled with stars.

He was seeing the paradise through the Supreme One’s eyes.

Then the golden sky broke apart and everything changed. The vast figure lay motionless while pieces of its body drifted through the darkness.

Then a construct appeared beside those remains and drew a piece of them into itself. Caelus felt his Origin power surge as the light entered its center.

He watched it gather around that piece until the shape of two people began forming. Within that unfinished figure he recognized the very power he now carried.

Caelus’s breath caught as the figure took shape within the light. He was watching the birth of the First Ender of Origin.

The Axiom Origin had used part of the Supreme One to create him. Those memories of the paradise had come with it and passed down through Origin’s power until they reached Caelus.

He stared at the fading figure as the children’s laughter reached him again. All those times he had been thrown into that field, he had been seeing memories left by the being who watched over them.

"So that’s why I kept seeing that place."

Caelus had thought the visions were trying to tell him something about the six children. He hadn’t realized the one watching them was just as important.

The scene dissolved into golden light and flowed toward him. Immediately after that his body began expanding inside the cocoon.

Stars spread through his chest while his arms pushed against its walls. The power he had struggled to hold now moved through him without meeting any resistance.

Then something beyond the cocoon answered his presence. Caelus felt it reach through him and knew the multiverse had acknowledged his existence.

[Ding! You have become a Primordial.]

[Your authority over Origin has reached the Primordial level.]

His senses rushed outward and revealed the currents moving through the chaos. Beyond them he could see universes that had once been too distant for him to even sense.

Caelus drew in a breath as his old Power Index disappeared from the system panel.

[Power: 1.]

[Ding! You have a powerful gaze. Your gaze can instantly turn someone into a Lesser God.]

[You have gained the power to traverse infinity and go through the currents of the multiverse.]

These notices came from the Akashic Records rather than the Origin Network. Caelus understood that as they appeared, but knowing their source didn’t make the words any less shocking.

He could make someone a god with a glance?

His gaze dropped toward his hands as he felt the strength within them. The number was only one because he had reached an entirely different scale of power.

Meanwhile his Origin authority spread beyond his body. The space surrounding the cocoon became so clear that he could feel exactly where to touch it to make it obey.

Caelus reached forward and the cocoon split beneath his fingers.

CRACK!

Light poured through the opening as he stepped out. Then he stopped because he was standing between two enormous hands.

He followed them upward and saw white hair stretching across the chaos. Behind it was a face he knew better than anyone else’s.

"Sylvia? When did you become a Primordial?!"

She smiled as he stared at the stars moving through her body. Her power felt like his own newly awakened strength and he couldn’t find a trace of the weakness she had carried before they separated.

"While you were making me wait out here, hubby."

Her hands opened as his growing body rose from them. Whole galaxies shone through his arms and he struggled to believe that the enormous figure he could feel was his own.

He reached toward Sylvia and she caught his hand as their power spread through the surrounding chaos. Then they both returned to their familiar forms.

He immediately pulled her into his arms. For a moment he forgot the notifications and the countless worlds waiting beyond them.

"You really became one too." He laughed as she held him tighter.

"You sound like you didn’t think I could."

"I knew you would get stronger, but I wasn’t expecting to wake up in your hands."

Sylvia chuckled against his chest and then kissed him. Caelus kept his arms around her as she began telling him about the Supreme One’s remains beneath Earth.

"They were the planet’s core, so the Hollow King had to make a replacement while I took them. He thought I would probably become a Half-Primordial."

Earth’s core had been the Supreme One’s remains? Caelus remembered the strange feeling beneath the planet and finally understood what he had failed to uncover.

"You should have seen his face when he realized I was gaining acknowledgment." Sylvia smiled as she recalled it.

Caelus grinned at the thought. The man who had made them feel so small now had two Primordials to deal with.

They had both reached a level where they could finally face the dangers chasing them. He wanted to stay there with her a little longer, but Sylvia’s next words quickly took away that comfort.

"There’s more you need to know about the Heavenly Lord. The one the Hollow King killed was only his clone."

Caelus’s smile faded as she explained the rescue in the God Domain. Fate and the other Enders were safe in the Hollow Realm along with Phanes and the imprisoned faction leaders.

She also told him that the Heavenly Lord had taken his parents from the Abyss. Caelus’s grip tightened until she quickly added that Phanes had no proof they were dead.

"Then I’ll get the truth out of that bastard myself."

"The Heavenly Lord wants them to fight so their stolen power will return to the Axiom Origin. He’s trying to restore it and take control of it."

Caelus looked at her as the meaning sank in. That bastard had been trying to use Sylvia and Freya to rebuild the very thing behind all their powers.
